you just blew my mind. it's literally the smallest thing possible? so small it cannot have length and width?

Holy goddamn SHIT!

Jackson, I will tell everyone about this game, which is something I don't generally do...this game MUST be known by the world's inhabitants.

I may buy it for my best friend and test it out on my sisters to see how they like it...I can't wait to buy the game and see the results!

It's hard to believe that the database would work that well, but the impressions definitely have me saying wow.

I need to rebuy a DS now.

Why the fuck would anyone even sell a DS. The mind boggles.

Wait a minute, I'm an idiot. I just realized I HAVE that issue of Nintendo Power; they were giving it away on the show floor. I'll update this post with anything interesting I find.

Updates:
- This article says there are 280 stages, not 220. Awesome.
- At one point, the creative lead on the game found a bug in which he placed two bunnies on the field, and they reproduced infinitely and eventually crashed the game. :D
- Another bug he found: an elephant picked up a bazooka with its trunk and started firing wildly. Oh my GOD. :lol :lol :lol That's a bug?! Leave it in!
- The currency system is in "Ollars". You can buy new levels, avatars, and music.
- FUCK YES ONLINE LEVEL SHARING CONFIRMED. Friend Codes and all, but what-the-fuck-ever.

Holy shit. Day fucking one.

I didn't know wtf this game was five minutes ago, and didn't care. Post 217 + some others posts = my new most anticipated DS title of the year. :lol Thank you GAF. :)

Post #217 did not disappoint. I would have gone with holy water, but still. That's amazing. This solidifies it as my most anticipated DS title.

Played Mario Bros. Played Elite Beat Agents. Tried to play Final Fantasy III... Played Pokemon. Sold on ebay.

Now I see a couple of Zelda games and Scribblenauts, which is potentially the coolest thing ever. I'm happy with my PSP that I barely touch just for Patapon, I assume Scribblenauts would be similar.

I might buy myself two copies of scribblenauts since I have 2 NDSes so I can take em with me to friends and mess around with the game together :D

Tsk tsk, you're missing out, man. The DS is essential in this fucked up generation we're in. It's the one constant you know is never going to let you down :lol

Online level sharing is amazing, but I guess I was foolish to think it would be easy access like LBP's. "Friend codes" is the only disappointing thing I have read about the game yet. Still a must buy for me.

Sort of
No, yeah--it is
, but I hope it has room for a LOT of friends--I want all you goddamn GAFfers! :D

I have nothing but reservations about this game. Lock's Quest was an incredibly good idea with meh execution. This is an incredibly incredible idea, but who knows about the final product. I've got complete faith that the "gimmick" will not be, that it'll be totally awesome and the coolest thing ever. The actual game though, I've got my doubts. I have the highest of hopes that beyond the item-creation process that is getting all the focus, this thing is incredibly well developed and thought out. It needs something like an Advance Wars amount of content.

Aww, that is one minor point...if it had something silly like a 32 or 64 friend limit it could be annoying for message boards. But hopefully they at least save some of the memory space for a huge friends list.

Don't get your hopes up, save space is being used for more important things (like the game itself :lol) It's unfortunate, but something had to give.

Blame the DS limitations when trying to cram everything in the universe into it. :p

Ouch. I'd trade some internet memes for being able to store a couple of custom levels or have a big friends list. I guess I can just add and delete people over and over if I need to. :p

I wonder how they made sure to get all of the words in? Did they just go through dictionary after dictionary?

Also, will historical figures be in?

Since challenging 5th Cell with new words gets them implemented...

Random words

1-up
Credits
Doppelgaenger
Endgame
Hoverboard
Hoverboots
Minigame
Mithral
Moldavite
Portable Hole
Raposa (from Drawn to Life)
Shadow Goo (ditto)
Snowshooter (ditto)

And:

Which is the Tobacco Mosaic Virus, Dahlemense Strain (from American Chemical Society's Chemical Abstracts). If you are doing obscure dinosaurs, you need to add this.

And basically all of the usable nouns from here (http://www.kokogiak.com/logolepsy) such as (among many others):

Abscissin - hormone which triggers the fall of autumn leaves in certain trees
Acapnotic - person who doesn't smoke

And I really want to see if zygote works, since that would be... bizarre.

I've gotta admit when I first heard about this game way back when on IGN I did think it sounded cool but was skeptical if it would actually turn out. Based on everything I've heard and read since then I am fully a believer now. I can not wait to get this game.

I really hope you guys market the crap out of this game because it doesn't deserve to be a sleeper hit that only the hardcore know about.

This game seems to deliver. Must be a big cart size; not so much for the visuals but for the sheer database work.

Guessing there is a letter limit. DS probably isn't up to dealing with 1kbit strings :lol

They said they were going through the specialist dictionaries for all the obscure dinosaurs (to the great pleasure of all the paleontologists among us I am sure), but since they've done that, what about the botanists, the entomologists, or the parasitologists? Will they go through the specialist dictionaries for all the myriad (obscure) plants and creatures people might want in this game? And diseases, as previously mentioned- there's a lot to cover, even if you do things like make all ant types spawn the same sprite etc.
This game is pure awesome though, no matter whether the above stuff gets included or not! +1 purchase

Also! I was wondering if nationalities might be excluded (being somewhat non-concrete). I suppose they'd have to spawn a stereotype of each nationality, which might be difficult, and there are a lot of different nationalities and peoples to represent... but I could imagine a LOT of fun with this. :D

The answer is Moses, you heathen.

Hey Jackson, why didnt you guys approach Nintendo to showcase this game at their conference? This would have definitely broaden awareness for the title, and brought alot of laughter and 'wows' to the press conference. It deserved to be put up on the big screen. What a missed opportunity...:-/

I don't think anybody is quite sure what the hell went on with Nintendo's conference. While stuff like Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M were nice surprises, there's some absolutely killer third party stuff that should have headlined. Silent Hill and Scribblenauts really should have been at the conference, if just to drum up publicity and show some really top tier titles on Nintendo systems.

Absolutely. If these were shown, Nintendo's conference would've been so much better.

You know, I cant believe I doubted the DS when it launched.:lol Developers are going to town on this platform.

How about Large Hadron Collider? If you summon it and turn it on, does it delete all your save data?

Nintendo didn't even show all of their own games at their conference. S&P2, that Monolith RPG, and that Arkanoid-like game that use M+ weren't there, not even in video reels.
