if you read between the lines it really shines through that no one in the white house has any real respect for trump. they try to shield him away from the outside world and the powerful players in the white house actually make the policy decisions. It is quite remarkable.

Something like half are bots, plus people who don't like him follow him as well, just to track the insane stuff he says.

So not really a measure of popularity, but this guy is so sleazy that it's not surprising he'd try to use it as a marker.
