Well, for me it took three tries. First two times my account was rejected after six month consideration. I don't know what was different this time, but I was approved after maybe a month. I don't know if you're really grasping that the information provided to us is part of proprietary datasets that NPD clients have to pay thousands of dollars for access to.

They're not supposed to be leaked. But some people are willing to take on the risk to provide us with data to inform discussion. Or at least they were until today.

There's legitimate rationale for trying to obfuscate the provision of information and slow the spread of that information based on the realistic situation, not some high-minded, idealized and frankly somewhat naive view of what "the forum should be."

It actually is "shady". Because its proprietary data from a business who makes money from the sale of collected retail data.

There's a reason why Creamsugar uses such bullshit game names, adjusted numbers, and pie charts to leak stuff to us. It is so that it is more difficult to track him and the source of the leaks down.

Same goes for other leakers with proprietary and confidential data like CBOAT. They're not being wacky to be funny, they do what they do so to obfuscate traces to the them and the source as much as possible.

Leaks are a bonus to us gaffers and the leaker should have complete control on how we receive said leaks. For us its a bit of fun and some informed discussion, for the leakers it's possibly their jobs.
