Unfortunately I fully expect the GOP, or at least Trump, to frame this as an attack on the Republican party as a whole and will somehow find a way to blame the Democrats rather than the idiot who actually shot them. I believe politicians are going to wait to respond on next steps until they learn more about the shooter. He sounds like he was packing serious fire power which I assume makes him pro-gun. People are complex for example I'm very Left leaning but pro-gun and pro-gun reform, but I wasn't raised in an environment where ARs are seen as the type of gun one would have for protection.

I'm implying that if the attacker is motivated it doesn't mean he is aligned Left. Whether or not he is the situation is unfortunate but I don't think politicians are going to discuss the incident before they receive enough information.
