Social conservative lawmakers fabricate gay sex story to hide heterosexual affair

Took some political manuvering to get things together but they did it.

Lansing — The Michigan House of Representatives ousted state Rep. Cindy Gamrat from office just after 4 a.m. Friday for misconduct involving her extramarital affair with Rep. Todd Courser — one hour after Courser abruptly resigned

Courser signed a resignation letter just as House Republicans appeared to have secured enough Democratic votes to remove him from office.

Twenty-seven Democrats had withheld their votes in protest of how the GOP majority had investigated and sought the ousters of the two freshmen Republicans.

"Our biggest concern was that the Republicans' effort to ram this through in just a week doesn't attempt to sweep this entire matter under the rug and prevent any further investigation into what occurred," said Greimel, D-Auburn Hills.

Democrats held out their votes for hours until Republican leaders agreed to pass another resolution calling for Attorney General Bill Schuette and the Michigan State Police to "investigate the behavior and conduct" of Courser for possible malfeasance in office.

The resolution calls for the House Business Office report to be forwarded to the state police.

Pretty bad that he thought a gay hook up was better than a straight hook up. Either way it's adultry no matter which hole you put your pole.

These people were idiots.

He would have succeeded if it werent for those meddling kids!

The faces of American political stupidity. Further proof that our leaders are moronic.

Nothing about this makes sense. Can someone who considers this an intelligent move explain it to me? I get the whole hiding the real story in the more sensational fake story thing, but when both stories involve extramarital affairs isn't it self-defeating? You want the revelation of the extra-marital affair to seem tame in comparison to...the extra-marital affair? Was he trying to do this for his co-cheater's benefit because it doesn't seem to benefit him in any way.

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
Why do Republicans care so much who politicians have sex with? What did this have to do with legislating?

Just as a quick update on this fabulous story that just keeps giving:

Last week Friday, prior to the vote to expel the lawmakers, Rep. Todd Courser resigned. An hour later Rep. Cindy Gamrat was expelled from her position via House vote by a margin of 91-12.

John Oliver also did a piece on the whole story on his Last Week Tonight show.

So everyone thought: Alright there will be special elections. This is basically over now. End of story.

Not so fast!!

Yesterday Gamrat said she would be re-running for the position she was just expelled from.

And this morning, Courser said he is re-running for the position he resigned from

And they will win. Affairs arent a big thing with voters anymore. You gotta be at Benghazi levels of 'scandal' to turn off your base.

maybe, especially since their districts are heavily GOP from what I've heard. Couldn't they still be charged with something though? It was more than just an affair, it was using state funding and/or resources to cover it up.

They are both Tea Party shit stains. Of course they're self centered to the point of cluelessness.

I think it's awesome watching this whole thing go down.
