Eh now I know not to read your posts.
wow that's absolutely low from yoko taro. no need to drag other companies down in your game. certainly not buying this game now, especially with the switch launching soon. i'll be buying the product that doesn't have to insult competitors and can stand on its own as being a half baked mediocre product by its own merits.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Nier Automata digital or physical, nor will they purchase any of Yoko Taro's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Yoko Taro has alienated an entire market with this move.
Yoko Taro, publicly apologize and patch this out or you can kiss your business goodbye.

I consider myself someone who can be sympathetic to a point with people offended by trivial things, but this is so far beyond pathetic it's not remotely funny. I'm honestly shocked they'd bother to change it - it's such a minor detail, how many people could honestly have complained about it in the first place? Three?

It's times like these where I wish I had something, not necessarily a time machine but something where I could change a variable and then play it forward and see how the result changes. I think it would be very interesting to see how the reactions change when each console is run through this situation.

I own the Wii U, it had great games ruined by a stupid name and ugly console design and gimmick. The only hope is that the games will be ported to Switch so they can be played by the general public.

I love the idea of NIN64 being the code name for Quake 64, but also what would a NIN game be? In the late 90s it definitely would've been a messed up experience.
No one would be upset if they switched it to VBoy...
