Some NieR: Automata Players Upset After Discovering Trash Item Called “NIN64”

Actually, level of fucks given: They're patching it out.

It is after all quite a nice thing that the good people of this forum know better than to trash the Yokotaro68.

Nice also that SE would choose to honor those insightful & exquisitely sensitive souls who would likewise, even after all these years, still choose to salvage the Nintendo 64 from the trash heap.

Get these poor nerdy souls a safe space from the mean jokes at some hardware's expense.

Rename it to something that could be considered Switch related and let the headlines fly.

Currently a massive thread on it on esuteru (1441 posts). All publicity is good publicity, right?

I don't understand why anyone would think this was insulting the console...? If it's fished up from the bottom of the ocean or something then it probably is broken/trash

Yoko Taro just shot himself in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it.

The For Honor OT title, which I initially thought was terrible, makes sense to me now. I completely forgot about this.

On topic. Must be nice to have so few worries in life you have to reach like this.

I mean, I love the N64, and will fight anyone who diss the N64, but even I found this such a dumb thing to be mad about it.

Jeeshhhh.

The man put out Drakengard...DRAKENGARD!

His games are the ultimate in trolling. Random potshots at overrated consoles are nothing compared to the fuckery he usually puts players through.

Considering that the game takes place thousands upon thousands of years into the future, this is kind of a backhanded compliment. Loved the N64 but don't see how this is offensive to some people?

It's the fun little easter eggs like these that add a ton of character to a game. Hopeful to run into more when I play on NA release that don't get spoiled on the internet.

I had the thing lol

Yeah and a lot of people had NES too and now think there are only a handful of games that aren't unplayable.

I had the Wii since launch and until a year ago thought the system had only about a dozen good games. It's what happens when you draw conclusions from your own limited exposure to the games, when you only skim the surface and don't actually look into what's really good and recommended in a console's library.

You said there are only 5 outstanding games on N64... when there are at least 5 games that meet that criteris in individual categories: cartoon platformers, third-person/action-adventure, FPS, racing, shooters, action RPG, puzzle, sports/wrestling, 4-player party games.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
LEAVE NINTENDO ALONE!

Reminder that the N64 was outsold by the Sega Saturn in Japan.

It was a failure of a console from an Japanese point of view after coming from the all dominating NES and SNES.

The only things the N64 did right was to have four controller ports standard and also revolutionizing console 3D controls with the analog stick. Outside of that, it was the games that made the system great. Best party console of that generation. But ultimately the PS1 shined way harder overall.

Square just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honour and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase NeiR: Automata, nor will they purchase any of Square's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Square has alienated an entire market with this move.

Square, publicly apologize and cancel bringing this title to the West or you can kiss your business goodbye.
