The Wii U situation has everyone paranoid about brand confusion but Sony's nomenclature is ingrained into the mainstream. I've never had to explain to someone what Playstation 4 is.

That´s already 2 hours, and if the lowest minutes counts taken PS3 will get 20 minutes Vita 15 minutes (very optimistic Vita prediction).

Anyhow, anyone who thinks that Sony conference will only about games without a lengthy show on social features/apps/media functions is out of their mind. Those will at least have 30 minutes at the conference. There´s no way Sony will allow MS to run away as a media hub box games all in one while PS4 is seen as an expensive new toy that play games.
Games were center at the announcement so E3 will be focused a lot on media features.

Sony will push multimedia because has movie and music branches and it will be very beneficial for them. A lot of people bought the PS3 because of BR. Sony has always pushed and will always push media functions with all of their devices. The one Sony policy is coming together by Kaz and extensive media functions will be in every Sony device.

Right, but they're not going to sell a ton of PS4s because of movies and music. No one is going to buy a $500 machine to play movies or listen to music. The PS4 must be sold first and foremost as a game console, if for nothing else to justify all of the expensive hardware that goes into it. Of course Sony and third parties will offer plenty of supporting features, but expect Sony's initial push to be heavily game focused, since they know that the early adopters who are going to support them while the console is new and still relatively expensive are the core gamers.

I somewhat agree to this. PSP2 would have made it more easier to market. Maybe Sony got scared after WiiU & Vita that they dropped the rumored name "Orbis" and went with "4"

Not sure about this, but I fully expect SOE to have a bigger presence on the PS4 than the PS3. Starting with PlanetSide 2, and maybe a revival of The Agency.

That factually wrong. Plenty of people bought the PS3 for its BR functionality. Media functionality is very appealing to none gamers, and that is a huge market.

Plenty of people bought a PS3 only for its blu-ray functionality when you couldn't get a blu-ray player for less than $400-500, and the PS3 was literally the best player on the market. I agree that media functionality is important for non-gamers, but you should recognize that consumers will be able to obtain all of the media functionality that is going to be present in these consoles via other devices that are a fraction of the price. The media functionality will be there as supporting features, but Sony isn't going to be marketing it as the primary reason to own the system until their price drops to a more competitive price relative to the other mass market devices that perform similar functions.

Agency was canned long ago. I really doubt they would revive it. PS2 I think will definitely make an appearance at E3. They've put so much work into on PC, constantly improving and listening to player feedback that it's polished enough to port to PS4. EQN on the other hand is most likely in very beginning stages. They will need to go through a hefty beta period on PC before it comes anywhere close to being ported to PS4.

That is still not correct. PS3 is Netflix largest user base. We will see come E3.

I don't think they'll go all black for game boxes. Sony probably wants some semblance of "affordability" to come to mind when you see the new boxes. All black screams "luxury" to most people and may cause an unfavorable disconnect to the image Sony was to portray. Black and blue, or clear and blue, seem to be more likely suggestions.

I'm not digging it. Yes, it looks slick. But the exact same as PS3 but with color changes.

I couldn't believe how lazy it was when first unveiled.

We waited so long for the next PS console, and we deserve better than it to seem like "PS3 generation part 2" thanks to the branding and logos.

Each PS console had it's own identity, and PS4 doesn't with the branding and first party games, all making it seem like PS3.5.
This generation has stagnated for too long and it's time for a new "era". I want to see that in the new consoles. No more continuation and dragging on the past. New beginning, a new generation.

Blue is the playstation color, just as green is the xbox color. Watch the ps meeting back in feb, every damn powerpoint slide is blue. The DS4 is always shown with a blue light, so I'm guessing the PS4 will be black with blue accents. The PS2 was also black with blue accents, and some games had blue discs.

All car games promo shots are always about the cars. They clearly want to show people how detailed the cars are.

I love this! Well done Takuya. Seriously, someone contact Sony and bring this to their attention. Casing color will probably depend on console color. If they go with white for the console, game casing will follow suite. If they go black, black game casing it is.

Full white or full black is what I prefer. Blue kinda looks cheap.

Just did a bit of googling at it was known Guerilla Games were working on a new IP way back in 2010. So the games should be quite far in development now, perhaps they will unveil it at Gamescom.

They had started working on a new IP back in 2010, but you have to take into account that the first couple of years probably involved a lot of prototyping and cancellations (see Dark Science).

Also there is nothing to suggest that their next game is an RPG so I don't see why you keep saying it is as if it was assured.
