Map looks extremely boring, 1 city, 1 military base, 1 lake, few tiny villages. City in south and other stuff in north, there should be multiple cities so that you could drive between them.

They always said one big city. The map doesnt look boring at all. It seems like it has something of everything.

There's only been one 3D GTA with more than one city, so by your logic they were all boring apart from San Andreas. In fact almost every modern-set open world game has a boring map by those standards.

There will be plenty of things to drive between. Some of those towns are pretty big; almost as big as a San Andreas city. And then you have the countryside itself, the ton of little locations dotted about and the large amount of activities within... it's not like the game gives you no incentive to leave Los Santos.

Just seeing that desert and the highway I just know there is going to be a thought popping up in my head somewhere that says ''Screw it, I am going off-road and making sharp U-turns''

The kid inside of me is getting all excited. That has not happened since GTA: SA.

On my facebook timeline there are some douches who downloaded the leaked version

Pretty sure that image is from one of the trailers... I think they just 'shopped a HUD over the top and stuck a PS3 controller in the shot to "prove" they are playing it.

No, but it's an official screenshot released for one of the previews.
It's on the game's official page.

The people that think the city is small are probably thinking the grid streets are the only streets. They're the major streets. Each grey square is an entire block, if you look closely there's a shitload of more, smaller streets.

I think those are actually alleyways and whatnot, kinda like in GTAIV.

Is anyone else following this thread on Reddit? I was completely on board with the calculations until he posted GTAIV and RDR's maps as well. It's insane. Like GTAV's airport is about the size of a third of Red Dead's Mexico. And it pretty much looks as though you can fit most of GTAIV into V's Mount Chiliad. There's no way this is legit, right?

On the other hand I'm aware RDR feels bigger than it is because of the transport available, and similarly IV only feels small when you take to the skies.

80km² (50km² land)
36km² for SA

Skyrim Tamriel Worldspace: 3808 x 3008 [ 119 x 94 TES4 size cells ] = 6.9km x 5.4km = 37.6 sq km = 14.5 sq miles
Oblivion Cyrodiil Worldspace: 4288 x 4128 [ 134 x 129 TES4 size cells ] = 7.7km x 7.4km = 57 sq km = 22 sq miles
Morrowind Vvardenfell World: 2688 x 2816 [ 84 x 88 TES4 size cells ] = 4.8km x 5km = 24 sq km = 9.3 sq miles
Fallout3 Wasteland Worldspace: 6304x6400 [ 197 x 200 TES4 size cells ] = 11.3km x 11.5km = 130 sq km = 50 sq miles
Fallout3 New Vegas WastelandNV: 4096x4128 [ 128 x 129 TES4 size cells ] = 7.3km x 7.4km = 54 sq km = 21 sq miles

Sure GTAV will be the most richer map

How can you tell the game is boring from looking at the map? Do you know how much wild shit we can do in this boring map of yours? I'm assuming you're referring to the game since I can't see how a map can be boring. It's a map...

No he's misread the scale, it says 2000ft not 2250ft. And even after that, I think he must have made more mistakes, there's a better comparison out there somewhere.

Ah, threads like these are always good for a laugh

like early on

"These maps can't be to scale! Look at the roads! That city looks small because of the roads!"

(is looking at six lane avenues and doesn't realize it)

If you draw a road on a map it's never to scale or you wouldn't see the roads.

There's a casino building next to the Vinewood Park Racetrack, you'd think it'd be possible to enter it.

Cool. Didn´t notice the sign. Too bad we won´t get the whole LV area. But it seems like a big possibility that we get the casinos given the screenshot.
