I will never get the imouto obsession. People who like that obviously have never had little sisters or are complete sickos. Oh wait.

I'm not usually one to get embarrassed by trashy animu like this, but I got red from all the stupidity in this. It was not particularly pervy or anything like that, but focusing on Kureha made for an incredibly cheesy episode that even included a Happy Birthday song. It's a side of harem animu that I find even more self-indulgent that the actual fetishism.
Is it even called an Oedipus when you are talking about girls and their dads?
Electra complex.

Just signed up for a Crunchyroll account. What should I watch? I've been out of the anime loop for a while.

Completed shows:

Chihayafuru
Gankutsuou
Gintama
Hanasaku Iroha
Hourou Musuko - Wandering Son
Level E
My Ordinary Life
Natsume Yujin-cho
Time of Eve
Usagi Drop

Currently airing shows:

Fate/Zero
Kids on the Slope
Mysterious Girlfriend X
Poyopoyo
Space Brothers
Tsuritama

These would be my top recommendations.

Rick's Brea- I mean, Shining Hearts 1

Meet Rick

He's just your average, everyday baker. Of course, in this world's universe that means he's the toast of the town, and he naturally works with three beautiful young ladies who most likely wish for him to put buns in their ovens.

Their little business has been on a roll lately; it's established early on that they're really raking in the dough.

But owning your own bread show is hard work, with no time to loaf around, and thus our heroes must go on a long and arduous journey to the farm of dreadfully generic ingredients. Fortunately, nothing goes awrye and they make it to the farm successfully.

Unfortunately, plot point x dictates that they take a detour to the ELVEN FOREST OF FOREBODING MINOR HAZARDS. That is where they meet... this thing.

Its injuries may seem daunting, but for our intrepid heroes, fixing it is a piece of cake.

However, when they return the creature to edge of the forest, they meet this crusty old fellow.

It seems he is the one person in the world who is not enchanted by the pungent aroma of Rick's bread. After a tense and thrilling showdown in which the elf and one of Rick's haremettes exchange slightly terse words, our heroes escape unscathed.

Really? I guess you've like never read a single book with Elves in it.

Before they can return home, however, the Elf's little sister shows up.

After stuffing herself with Rick's bread, she provides us with expository setup dialogue for future events. Red moon, a storm is coming, blah blah blah. Our heroes finally return home with their baking ingredients to wrap up the show.

While I think the concept of a slice-of-life show based on baking bread in a fantasy world has the potential to be interesting simply because it goes against the grain, the script simply doesn't rise to the occasion. None of the characters in the show have any appreciable character traits; Rick's haremettes all have personalities as flat as a pancake, with no substantial way to differentiate between them other than appearance. And if the stale and generic setting wasn't bad enough, it also appears that they are setting up some kind of half-baked dramatic arc as well.

Of course, if this bland and wafer-thin story was sandwiched between good direction and interesting sound design, it could still be watchable. But there are only maybe two or three interesting shots in the entire episode, such as this one where there just happens to be an out-of-focus castle in the background:

It's not much, but I'll settle for crumbs at this point.

There is one exception, of course, to this exceedingly bland presentation, and it's what you've all been waiting for: excessive amounts of bread porn.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I thought "Kids on the Slope" and "Space Brothers" looked interesting :)

Edit: Going to check out the other suggestions as well, of course.

Just signed up for a Crunchyroll account. What should I watch? I've been out of the anime loop for a while.
There's a number of things I need to catch up on myself, but looking through CR's current list my favorites that I've seen are:

Waiting in the Summer / Ano Natsu de Matteru
Bodacious Space Pirates (currently running)
Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere (2nd season starts this summer I believe)
Code Geass (CR lacks the second half though)
Nurse Witch Komugi-chan
Queen's Blade
Saki
School Days
Soranowoto
Suzumiya Haruhi
Yuruyuri

I haven't seen much from this season yet so my list doesn't have any of those on it.

That's all right. Like I said, I haven't really seen anything recently :)

... Are you joking, or do you actually LIKE the "teacher-student relationship" thing the first episode spent so much time on? Because that's what I meant there, mostly.
Haha, I actually haven't seen the show yet so I can't say, but frequently I find that kind of thing amusing.

Mirai Nikki 26 END

ANIMATED FLOATING BABIES
yeeesssssssssssssssssssssss

I was worried they were going to do an anime original ending but thankfully they decided to animate this incredible trainwreck instead. I...it's beautiful *wipes tears*.

I really have to treat myself to some high quality yuri when I make it through this.

Was there really a lot of this? I dropped Strawberry Panic at around episode 5 because it felt like Oh-the-bell-interrupted-us-just-as-our-lips-were-centimeters-close Panic.

Yes, there is a lot of kissing in Strawberry Panic if you keep on watching!

Salt in the wound!

Maria-sama ga Miteru 13 Season 1 END

Such a classy show. While it wasn't a full on yuri show, there was Sei (<3) and subtext here and there for those with Yuri goggles to be satisfied. I was fine with Yumi, though Sachiko kinda irked me until the later episodes when her and Yumi began to understand one another. Besides Sei, another character I really liked was Rei. Having her design to be masculine yet her hobbies and interests feminine was a really nice idea.

Episode 11 is still my favorite. Soooo good. Hair sex. Finger sex. Best sex.

I was kinda surprised Suguru didn't show up at all after that one appearance, but I'm guessing he'll be returning in the 2nd or 3rd season?

Would definitely recommend this for those who are interested. Going to continue onward and start season 2 tomorrow.

After watching the episode, I know I did.

Also, how did the boat get there?

I'm glad you ended up enjoying it, now it's time to watch Strawberry Panic!

Stop trying to trick people into watching Strawberry Panic. lol

(Although I suppose there is blatant yuri in it. :p)

Anyone know any good light fantasy animes?

Also looking for any anime that is like E7 in either scale or tone.

Are you looking for stuff that's light-hearted and fantasy, or serious stuff that is fantasy but doesn't have a ton of strong fantasy elements?

Edit: I see I'm not the only one who's confused!

The "yuri" in Marimite is overblown. Its basically just a bunch of girls being friends. There is 1 gay dude and 1 lesbian in the entire show!

You've got to be kidding me. Do I even have a reason to watch Marimite now?
:p

Subtext sucks, it's a way for the writers to have their cake and eat it too.

I can always count on Femmeworth to state the truth. Brofist.

So I just started watchin' Fractale and I desperately want all the characters to sound Irish. I'm so hung up on it. Dat ED, man. Dat ED.

my condolences as well.

What's exactly light fantasy? Maybe Twelve Kingdoms?

Suspense.

I'd probably compare it more to Death Note than Monster, but people compare those two, so by the transitive property, Mirai Nikki is like Monster!

Never really used Crunchyroll, but Nico Nico is pretty good.

Well, that's good, because I really liked Death Note, too :p

Is there any practical benefit to having a premium membership with Nico Nico?

Crunchyroll is by far the best out of the streaming sites. I stopped using Nico Nico due to the poor video quality of their streams.

Yeah, that was part of the draw of Crunchyroll: HD. I mean, a lot of it isn't available in HD, but it's nice to see some QA.

What does light mean?

Scrapped Princess is a good fantasy anime. It was made when BONES was good.

Lol I apologize I should have been more clear. I meant light-hearted and fantasy based. Also already seen Scrapped Princess. Here is my MAL list to save some time.

It seems like I've hit most of the major productions but there might be some I'm unaware.

I think new episodes of ongoing shows might be available sooner, but I'm not sure.

Check out Petite Princess Yucie. It's better than most people expect based on the premise and art. If you're looking for something kinda sorta like E7, I would say the closest in terms of art and tone would probably be Mars Daybreak.
