PSP Tactics continues to be one of the worst tragedies in gaming. Such a sadness that people continue to buy this. If the spell slowdown and out of sync sound effects aren't enough to send people running, maybe it's our own fault. Maybe SE knew.

It's far from ideal but still better than the original.
That shit is annoying, but it is still a superior game to the original PSX version.
It's worth it for the Alex O Smith translation.
Thanks for the video. I was curious what was the best way to play the games on my Vita.I found this video that compares loading times of the PS1 version of Chrono Trigger from PS3 to Vita. PS3 has 7 second load screen while the Vita does it in 4.4 seconds with Disc Load Speed set to Fast. I already own it on DS, but considered buying it just to have it on my Vita. Apparently, it was on sale previously for $3.50, so I'll just wait for that sale again.
Anyone have any personal experience re: load time for Chrono Trigger and FF V and VI on Vita? I saw a video on YT that showed CT loading ~40% faster on Vita, but personal experience would be welcomed
Is it possible to install X and X-2 separately after buying both? I only have a 4 GB Vita card.
That's what's so frustrating- there are improvements that make it so tempting, but it isn't the better version. The translation is window dressing, which is better than the original for sure- but the original actually functions correctly!
So tempted to get X/X-2. $20 is such a good deal.
But I'm probably gonna wait until Black Friday to try and pick up the physical version for that price.
Ugh, I basically want them all (I - IX). $54.91 for all that is probably a great deal but hard for me to pull the trigger. Finishing up FFXHD on Vita right now. I've never played any but VII and VIII (which I never finished) and Vita RPGs are all I really have the ability and want to play right now.
I've only played the PSP version, and if no one told me there was slowdown I wouldn't have noticed. It does move slower when casting spells and all, but it seems more a stylistic choice to cinematically show the spell's effect than anything else. I'm wondering how the game is actually meant to play now.
You're gonna want to get FFIX, just do it and thank me later...
wait so what are the absolutely atrocities I should avoid?
Planning to get:
FFV
FFVI
FFVII
FFVIII
FFX/X-2
For $40 total. I already own FF Origins and FFIX.
But it'll have to be Friday (payday). This sale will still be going then, I assume?

FF9
not even kidding.
Assumption correct, good sir. Until the next store update.

I can't really comment since I never played the original, but the PSP version is fantastic. Bought it on the PSP, double-dipped for the PSN version for my Vita later.
PSP has the better translation and cinematics.
WoTL if you have (e)CFW. The slowdowns are patchable.
They're not really atrocities so much that the loading times on them are annoying as they're non existant in their original SNES versions.
what about FFV - does it suffer from similar issues?

Yes you can install them separately. They're around 3.3 gigs each iirc.
You probably want to upgrade that Vita memory stick to 32/64gb especially if you're a Playstation Plus user, I only had to buy 3 games for the Vita(P4G, FFX/X-2HD, Lumines), and I got a ton of quality games just by being subscribed to Playstation Plus.
FF 8 or 9? I won't have much time to play it, but I'll be honest, I just want an easy FF game to play through. Which one should I get? Never played either before.
Hmmm, how's the difficulty of 9?this isn't even a question
9 is one of the best in the series
8 is probably the worst (13 may take that crown in retrospect)

Instead of berating you for having a terrible opinion, i'll note that you either love or hate Final Fantasy 8. There is no in between. Personally, it's my favorite Final Fantasy and it's not particularly close.
