STAR TREK ONLINE: The |OT| of Going Where No Gamer Has Gone Before....

The original DS9 theme is probably my other favorite. I'm at Season 4 now though, and I don't like the new theme at all. Ruined it. I don't know what the hell they were thinking when they created the new theme...it's the worst Star Trek theme I can think of.

The DS9 season 4 theme hurts me. The opening details were great, but the strange back beat the song had... it was just a mistake. Broken. If the show ever gets fully remastered (I hope and pray, curse you 80-90s D1 tape masters!) I hope they remix that theme OUT.

The DS9 theme was supposed to be written by Jerry Goldsmith, who had to bow out at the last second due to scheduling conflicts. Dennis McCarthy filled in. Goldsmith did come back to write Voyager's theme, using some of the material he intended for DS9.

So far my favorite part about the game are the away team missions. Probably the most fun MMO combat I've played.

My rifle sorta sucks though. I can buy stuff, but it's only marginal improvements (2 dps at best) for 400 credits.

When do I get greens and blues? Also, can team members use BOP/BOE armor that I've already bound to myself? I'm wonderding because I want them to use my old stuff whenever I get new stuff.

Yeah they can use armor and stuff you have bound to your capatain, just means you cant trade it to other people.

I think your the first person who has said they like the away team missions! :lol

Yeah I recently got up to S4 in DS9. The original theme was amazing but they totally screwed it up.

I have yet to meet anyone that loves DS9 that prefers the post season 3 version of the DS9 theme over the original version.

I like some of the away team missions, like one where I had to deliver some ambassador to a Vulcan monastary that was under attack by Klingons - some are godawful though, one for instance had me beam down just to 'fix' six seismic reactors :/

I'm really enjoying the game so far, but the goddamn gold spamming is SO annoying. Is there any way to set the chat window to just display team chat? Because I keep missing what my teammates are saying because of fucking gold spammers.

If you go into the chat settings you can turn off the zone chat and just leave team/fleet chat up, I just right click their name as soon as they spam and report spam on them.

I went on to the official forums to mention that a gold seller had sent me a tell which was even more annoying, soon as I switched back to the game I received another 15 tells trying to sell me gold...

They made the same with ST: Enterprise. The original theme was really good, but in the third season they add it some drum&bass rithm, and increased the speed, and it was awful.

About ground missions... i died fighting a bunch of klingons, and i realised that i could still give orders to the rest of the crew, even dead. And it was even funnier than playing with your character. So maybe an optional "auto" mode that use AI in combat for your captain, and then you can focus in giving instructions to all the away team will work better.

Okay guys, tried to set up the House of Gaf on Qo'nos last night but could only muster three of us. Would anyone else be available from 20:00 to 24:00 GMT to make it?

Explain, as I never really watched Enterprise beyond the mid first season.

Edit: oh wait nm... it was some disease, wasn't it...
it is actually the EXACT same thing as shown in the game :p Funny as I played it this weekend and then happened to see the Enterprise episode basically explaining the same thing.

Fixed the crashes.. well, sort of. On ground missions if I set the general settings slider one notch over to the right from max I don't crash. I've double checked my framerates and CPU temperature doing this and they are virtually no different at all from the slider all the way to the left (max) but there is something in game that happens at max on ground missions that crashes on my 5770 and i5. It isn't always but on some it is more annoying than on others. on the Celes hidden base and the city on the edge of never where you have to fight the Gorn augments it probably crashed a dozen times on each. I figured out before to drop the game down to lowest settings but as said earlier, it's god damn ugly doing that. Dropping it just one notch it still looks decent (and not like I'm playing a PS1 game) and so far hasn't crashed on me once. Sure hope Cryptic fixes whatever that is that's crashing on the highest setting on various cards (apparently crashing on both Nvidia and Ati models)

Much closer to commander.

My biggest complains of the game, so far, is the lack of missions.

Yes, there are the exploration missions, but are quite underperformed, they give you very few experience, and they're all in the clusters.

The fact that any planet of the mapped zone is used only for a single mission (and most of them is a very short patrol mission, very similar to the exploration ones) is a great mistake. I reached a point where, if I do only the missions that they give me, i don't level enought to get more missions of my level, so I'm forced to level in exploration and enemy vessels.

Also, that rule of "one planet - one mission" makes the zones completly empy of gameplay (because you can't even repeat them) when you "complete" that block. Taking in account that there are not "random encounters", they should reuse the systems for other missions, to avoid the emptyness.

They do, I've been to Station 114 three times now for three different missions, for example.

I like the ones where you have to board ships and stations. They're better designed than the planet ones.

Also, is the medical supplies mission bugged? I had to delivers some supplies to a planet, ten of them, but I couldn't really figure out what to do.

Really? I am full of missions (Lt. Commander 9 now) and even some leftovers fom Lt. 6 or so. I have no idea what to do because there is so much to choose from. Must be my slow-paced leveling then.

You may not have enough then, check the mission logs. You can buy those things from cargo ships - but they are pretty expensive.

I did that one, it bugged out for me because I had to leave the sector and return to Starbase 01 to buy medical supplies from the commodities vendor - when I returned to the planet I couldn't hail them to beam down the supplies. The solution is to enter the system and before heading into orbit of the planet bring up your journal and drop the quest, at that point it should reset and you'll get the original message from the planet asking for help, then when they ask for the supplies you should be able to beam them down.

Hah!

Should make the power drain of torpedoes much higher - that way you'd have a reason to only fire phasers until the shields were down.

Yep, I found them. But it's a small minority. Nearly all blocks are 80% planets being part of a single patrol mission, 18% planets being part of a story mission, 2% of planets being part of more than one mission.

Probably you played a lot of fleet actions or enemy vessels. I'm Lt Cm 7, played each mission once (and some cluster exploration twice), and I don't have any mission lower than Lt Cm 9 (well, yeah, i have some of them, but because they can be repeated or they're bugged).

Hm no I only did one fleet action, hate it ;) I did the exploration missions a few times though. I have to say I do not care how much XP I get for missions or explorations, this game is fun without "I need to level up!" in mind. I am just enjoying it and I have lots of money already. I will be able to buy two ships as a Commander :D

Do not ask me why, a friend of mine is having the same problem as you. He has no missions or money - so he joins me to have fun.

I like this game but I don't really enjoy any combat in it. I will end up playing for a bit, but until they spice that up or remove the tedium which I have so far encountered, I might take off.

Exactly. I'm playing it slowly, going for fun not XP. So far my Jem Hadar soldier of the Empire has served me well, in his unmodified starting Bird of Prey.

Anywhere I can see my PvP kill to death ratio?

Glad to see Klingons got a bit of love in this one, even if it is mostly for high levels. Almost at Lt Cdr...

I just bought this on a whim since I'm doing nothing with my life right now and really really don't want to get back into WoW (Plus I love Star Trek). I hope it doesn't suck too much but I really don't know what I'm getting myself into.

Almost done downloading via steam but is it just me or is the official site/forum completely devoid of any useful information like the differences between Tactical/Eng/Science, Escort/Cruiser/Science, Races etc...?

Are the TOS uniforms working as advertised now? Do they also work for BOFs?

I noticed yesterday that all special uniforms can be put on boffs now, I don't know if the mini skirts have made an appearance tho.

A bit gutted I can't play the borg content yet, still capatain 3 so quite a bit more to do before I can blow up some cubes :(

Anyone else got problems with the Doomsday Device mission? I finished all tasks but I can not finish it or hail starfleet.

Tried this yesterday night. Skirts are still a no-show. :(

Yesterday I was in the middle of a Klingon skirmish and I was blasted away like countless times in like 2/3 blasts ripping through my shields as if they weren't up at all.
Turns out it was some sort of Klingon warship 25+ level. I am just a mere Lieutenant rank 7. Worst thing was I kept rematerializing near the ship that killed me so I didn't have a chance to full impulse away long enough, nor did it give me a chance to warp out of the fight, I just kept dying over and over and over... I had to force quit the game.

I really enjoy the original version, but I actually like the Season 4 theme a little better. It may be a bias due to "The Way of the Warrior" being so freaking awesome.

I had something like this happen to me over in an Enemy Signal Contact in Sirius Sector Block, only it was a +19 Fighter hidden in a mass of normal ones. It made me humble, Iron Sheik style. ;p
