Star Wars: In Production [Rumors/SPOILERS for All Films Past, Present, & Future]

I admire the balls on Johnson to double down on the OT homages if the "walker battle on snow planet rebel base" thing pans out, especially after all of the complaints after TFA. We'll see how it plays out on screen but whew, that seems a bit on the nose.
He wrote the script before TFA was released. Not sure how easily he could have responded to TFA criticism.

As much as I love AT-ATs and snowspeeders, I hope that there isn't a snow scene in VIII. The last thing I need right now is more people complaining about the similarities between V and VIII and how Disney has no talent yada yada.

The planet has lava flows, I'm pretty sure it's a salt flat, not snow.

Saw some pretty cool artwork based off of MSW's character descriptions.

The thing is old Snoke wears more outfits than just that boring black robe and in The Last Jedi we get to see him looking very decadent. I think what he wears is probably insightful to his values and concerns as an evil being.

Snoke wears a gold silky robe with a very ornate pattern on it in The Last Jedi. In fact, I think you can pretty much see the robe on page 226 of The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. What is also interesting is his slippers are like “jester shoes” or “genie slippers.” They’re also gold because you have to match if you that far in with the gold robe. I think the robe and shoes are lined in red too so he’s stylin’. He has a very “blood and gold” vibe to him.

Another interesting detail is that Snoke wears a fancy ring on his left hand. Remember when I told you guys about those long puppet hands they made for him? Well his hands are decrepit and his pinky is sort of shriveling inward. But that doesn’t stop him from wearing a ring about the size of a “Ring Pop” if you remember the old candy. However, the stone in the ring is black and it could be a black Kyber Crystal according to the rumors around the ring. There will be more on that side of things later.

I don’t have a lot of details on his throne room but it is opulent. This guy cares about money. Back when he was a good looking young person, he was probably a playboy of sorts. Unlike the Sith, I think wealth means a lot to Supreme Leader Snoke based on his appearance. They based Snoke’s design on a marble aesthetic and I think his throne room has white marble and gold trim.

That Snoke stuff sounds pretty good.

I do wonder how much we "know" will actually be true.
These two sentences in combination with each other almost sound ominous, haha.

"His outfit there looks great! His outfit in the film will not be that."
Haha, yeah. I hope that Kylo illustration is not that far off from what he looks like, though.

Snoke's guards sound pretty crazy.

They have glossy red armor, shell plating, and matte red cloth elements for the capes and such. The old guards had that black visor that defined them but these new guys have a much different head shape. These new guards all have different helmets but they don't have visors to the best of my knowledge. The helmets are lot like the far out designs they came up with for Kylo Ren in Star Wars:

The interesting thing about the ”Praetorian Guards" is they all have different weapons. Pretty much all of the Ninja Turtles are represented. For instance, one has a staff but with two blades on each end. One uses nunchucks. One uses a sword and I think one has some kind of throwing weapon and knives.

This would be a bit disappointing if true. I was hoping we'd get more of the Knights.

I'm not entirely convinced the black knights that show up on Ahch-To are ”The Knights of Ren" anymore and I do wonder if they're related to the ”Praetorian Guards" or if they're lesser versions of these elite guards. It is weird that there are other melee based guys in knight type outfits and they're not the Knights of Ren. Maybe the Knights of Ren are simply Kylo's unit of elite warriors and aren't that special in the big scope of things?

You know who else had a lot of money and loved wealth?
Darth Plagueis the wise.

Big Star Wars started up the Plagueis meme in order to get the name back in people's heads leading up to the big reveal

That's how Snoke should have looked since the beginning....

On the other hand it kind of plays into my "Snoke is a sham" theory and having him be some kind of decadent who's duped Kylo with the trappings of wealth and power would be kind of awesome. It would also make the moment Kylo figures it out and destroys his masters abode and ultimately Snoke himself even more satisfying.

That Snoke stuff sounds really cool. I hope they make him really different to Sheev. Would be quite happy if he wasn't even a force user (though that would make finishing Kylo's training questionable)

Laura Dern’s character may be called Admiral Holdo in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. That is the name being used by people around the production to talk about her. The strangest part is she doesn’t look anything like an admiral in the classic sense. Admiral Holdo wears a long mauve regal gown with a short cape that hangs down in back with a concealed laser pistol. She has metallic braces around her wrists. Her pink hair is curled with a flapper vibe to it but it’s not incredibly short or anything. She’s kind of the antithesis of Leia’s new general look of a brown dress with her old A New Hope blaster pistol. Admiral Holdo looks very much like a design from the prequel era of Star Wars.
Admiral Holdo appears to be Poe Dameron’s nemesis in the film as he guides the remnants of the Resistance Fleet through the galaxy as they outrun The First Order fleet. Poe is primarly leading this fleet. But there is a moment where we will see that his black X-wing has been upgraded with some new engines making the ship even faster, so don’t worry if you want to see “one helluva pilot” doing his thing in The Last Jedi.

On a side note, there are Resistance BB units in the film too. However, these guys look very rusty and old. They are not evocative of Artoo-Detoo like BB-8 is. I want to say they’re almost steam punk in design. Their look is very brassy and beat up and they’re in contrast to the First Order BB units that are black with red hot vents on the side of the body. It all makes BB-8 all the more unique. However, it appears BB-8 will be with Finn and “Rose” for the majority of the film. We still aren’t sure if Poe will fly with one of the new brass Resistance BB droids or if BB-8 will return in time for a reunion flight with Poe.

If the rumors about Dern’s Admiral Holdo are true it sounds like we have a divided Resistance thanks to her inclusion. However it also sounds like the new Resistance ships she brings to the fleet are formidable. They’re sort of an abstract design but they have ball turrets on them just like the Clone Wars‘ Low Altitude Assault Transports from Attack of the Clones. Supposedly you can see the Resistance fighters in them as they blast TIEs and go up against Supreme Leader Snoke’s Mega Destroyer. These ships were called “Honey Droppers” during production and the codename for the Mega Destroyer was the “100 Acre Wood.”

Yeah, no kidding:

reddit summary of newest MSW podcast said:
There is a dedicated scene where Luke reunites with Chewbacca and R2D2, insiders have gotten "teary eyed" while describing this scene to Jason. This is the only reunion Luke will get in this trilogy.
There will be no reunion between Luke and Leia.
Luke doesn't seem to have a lightsaber for the movie (or at least most of it).
Rey will be trained by Luke similar to Yoda, but with a unique spin due to Luke's emotional state.
This movie does not sound like ESB 2.0
Luke's journey will be much more "mystical"
Luke has a compass of some type.
The birds that they once thought were Convorees are not actually Convorees, but only look like Convorees.
The birds are actually called "Porgs"
The birds are very soft white and grey and have a small amount of orange by their eyes, which are two completely black circles. They are both adorable and creepy and heavily inspired by Puffins.
The birds in the background of the final scene of TFA are not Porgs. Porgs do not have long tails.
There was a scene they were filming in Ireland (some video of them filming this scene is publicly available) in which their is a Porg nest. The baby Porgs are "fucking disgusting." They are featherless and gross.
There is a scene with Chewbacca alone on AHCH-TO and he "goes back to nature" and interacts with the Porgs in some way.
The Porgs are a significant feature of the film, not just a background creature.
Luke Skywalker does have a scene where he explains to Rey her connection to the force and why it is important. Jason does not know what exactly Luke says.
Laura Dern's Admiral Holdo has purple hair, prequel-like clothes, and a silver blaster.
Rian Johnson took the best visual aspects of all eras of Star Wars as influence for this movie.
The costumes are much better than in TFA.
Jason couldn't find any evidence of Leia getting injured or hospitalized in any way.
Leia has a black, angular, dress that looks mourning-esque.
There is no evidence that there is a funeral on Dubrovnik.
Leia's main outfit is a brown Resistance dress.
Leia has her classic pistol from the beginning of ANH.
Poe leads the Resistance fleet around the galaxy fleeing the FO (fleet is not as big as it sounds). Admiral Holdo brings some ships with her.
Finn and Rosie have BB-8 for their mission in which they're shipped in a cargo container at some point.
TFA was more of a remake, TLJ is a new Star Wars movie.
Snoke is opulent and wears a black Kyber crystal on his ring.
All of Jasons insiders don't know anything about the Knights of Ren. They possibly don't have a sequence in the film
The new mega Star Destroyer isn't pizza shaped, but more flying wing shaped. It is "colossal".
This ship is hunting the Resistance.
Kylo Ren has a hospital bed on this ship with an FX 7 style droid next to it. We could possibly see Kylo getting revitalized after TFA while also seeing Finn getting revitalized.
There's AT-ST's in the film that will walk alongside the AT-4X's on Crait.

look, I'm not one to demand tons of fan service, I prefer original stuff, but no luke and leia scene?
this_is_bullshit_the_wire.gif

Same. I don't need warm/fuzzy fanservice overload. But no Han/Leia/Luke full blown reunion already sucks. But not even Luke/Leia? -_-

Damn Johnson/Disney/Kennedy/etc, bunch of edgelords

Mostly joking.. mostly... it's funny how they'll do what's in many ways almost a remake of ANH in 2015, but shy away from a reunion like this, or from Rey being Luke's daughter (maybe?) presumably because it'd be too obvious or something?

Luke has evolved past the use of a lightsaber, just like yoda or the emperor, they would never use lightsabers

So from the trailer we know those definitely weren't B-Wings on Crait.

Unless the resistance shows up at the last minute with upgraded B-Wings to take out the walkers...

Making Star Wars have something else on Luke's costume in the film. He has a necklace with what sounds like a red kyber crystal hanging from it.

During preproduction for Star Wars: The Last Jedi I heard rumors about Luke Skywalker having a Kyber crystal he was protecting and/or hiding. One version of the story basically went that Skywalker appeared to have pieces of Darth Vader’s lightsaber on him but they were obscured and you wouldn’t really notice unless you were into the lore. Those kinds of rumors are always fun, especially when they’re coming from credible avenues of information.

I have been told that in Star Wars: The Last Jedi our favorite Skywalker is wearing a pretty cool necklace that might connect to that rumor. The shape supposedly is sort of like that of a wooden dog whistle when seen from a distance. I know that’s a weird analogy but that’s what I was told. However, the interesting part is that when you look at the bottom of the necklace hanging around the neck of Luke Skywalker, you will see a red crystal protruding from the bottom of it.

Slightly off topic but I want to address this as it's really ticking me off.
The Daily Express is a UK Tabloid paper. Everyday it posts a snippet of a rumour or spoiler from a fansite or more reputable source, stretches the sentence into a few paragraphs and delivers some of the most blatant and irritating clickbate I have ever seen. It feels so tacky and naff, which is what I would expect from such a news source but it also seems weird to make a new article everyday about Star Wars. Everyday. It's just weird and targeted to such a specific audience. Not the mention the potential to (however unlikely) actually spoil the film.

Today's misspelled headline?

An actual newspaper, ladies and gentlemen.

They come up in my Star Wars browsing every day and it just rubs me the wrong way.

Our best look at the porgs so far from Lumberjack Nick.

If you haven't been following my investigations into the new creature, I'll fill you in. A porg is a creature from Star Wars: The Last Jedi that inhabits Ahch-To. They're a part of the ecosystem of the planet and are a sacred creature from the sound of things around the set last year. Luke Skywalker seems to care for the creatures and there is a connection between the creatures of the planet and the Force. There are moments where Chewbacca and Artoo-Detoo interact with them and care for them.

Some of the porgs have a small amount of additional coloring. I believe perhaps the male porgs have orange feathers on their head and the females do not. Here is a really solid look at a porg thanks to the art stylings of Lumberjack Nick as dictated by me:

I think that Finn and Rose will be the love story of this trilogy

Yeah, I expect that'll be the case.

The 'Space horse' that Finn and Rose ride on Canto Bight is called a falthier according to Making Star Wars.

In Star Wars: The Last Jedi I have learned that the horse we used to call “The Space Horse” is actually called a “falthier.” They’re race horses. As we’ve noted previously, Canto Bight has gambling and we used to call it “the casino planet.” Well, the falthiers are high-dollar “race horses” on the world. The beige/brown falthiers were glimpsed last summer during filming on location in Dubrovnik. The head of the horse is sort of like a cross between a tauntaun and and the luck dragon from The Neverending Story.
