Stardew Valley |OT| Resting Under a Harvest Moon [Up: now on PS4]

I can't handle the artifacts. The RNG is so annoying. I only need 5 more but the grind is too much.

I was hoping to get the platinum but I'm afraid I will have to give up.

I finally "beat the game" the other day by completing the community center. Spoilers(?)
Was pretty shocked to see that almost nothing happened. I was hoping for some kind of event or special item. All I got was a piece of mail thanking me.
After this is there really anything else to do? I've gone to the bottom of the mine and decked out my farm as much as I'm willing to. I'm kind of just doing the daily loop and getting bored now.

Are there any extra secrets or anything else I'm missing that I could be doing? I could start over I suppose, but I wanna play on Switch, whenever that happens.

Edit: Sorry if people see this bump expecting a Switch or multi-player update :p I'm there with you waiting patiently.

Have you been in
the casino?

yeah, after 200 hours I gave up still missing 5 artifacts. At least they could be not so rare, some of them, I mean.

This is on sale on UK PSN for £6.50 at the moment, so I bought it a few days ago. Also bought Rime and The Witness at the same time, although this game is so consuming I've not touched those two yet! Really like it so far; I've never played Harvest Moon but it's a very relaxing and almost therapeutic game, and the presentation is fantastic. I like that it has adventure aspects to it, and you're encouraged not just to manage your farm but also to explore the environment.

I've restarted my game about five times over now though! Looked at some 'getting started' videos on YouTube last night, and I restarted with the intention of using 300 wood to repair the bridge on the beach that leads to the rock pools, and focusing on getting the silo ASAP so I can then get a chicken coop. Only trouble is that to build the silo I need copper bars, and I'm not sure how the furnace to create them. According to the Wiki after I get copper ore for the first time I should get a visit from the blacksmith Clint the morning after who will give me the blueprints for the furnace, but that hasn't happened. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Got the Furnace. It seems you have to get the Copper Ore from the mine specifically before Clint gives you the recipe, even though I'd already got some from Geodes and even bought some directly from the blacksmith.

I now need 10 clay before I can build the silo though, which doesn't seem very forthcoming. Gonna keep plugging on.

Hoe worms whenever you see them.

Thanks. I have found worms maybe half a dozen times, but haven't really been looking for them. Will have to pay a bit more attention. Are they in locations other than the beach, because that's the only place I've seen them so far?
Hoe the dirt in the mines; the spots that look a little bit different from the normal ground texture. They start showing up around lvl 15 of the mines.

Edit: It's the brighter ground texture here:

It's also where Diglets will attack you.

Thanks; I found a lot of clay this way. Don't quite have the 10 I need for the silo yet, but at least I know where to go to get some easily.

There IS an event after you complete the community center.
Granted, it's a bit unintuitive, but you need to go back into the community center at least one day after completing it. Also, you unlock a special quest from the wizard by completing it.

So how the hell do you fish? I've tried about half a dozen times and I don't understand how it works. I know you obviously keep the green bar over the fish in order to catch it, but I don't understand what the vertical bar on the right does. I've tried pushing the analogue stick up or down but that didn't work, and I tried spinning the stick like the fishing reel but that didn't work either. Any input would be most appreciated!

I've only played PC but it should be the same on consoles.

Keeping the fish icon within the green bar causes the gauge on the right to increase, and when the fish is outside it it goes down; once the gauge is full the fish is caught, if it empties the fish gets away. That's all there is to it; hit whatever button you use to move the green bar until the gauge fills up. Keep in mind you can only pull the bar upwards, but it drifts down on it's own, so 'tapping' the button tends to work best rather than holding... and be careful because it also bounces off the bottom if it has momentum.

Retro explained it very well. If you play on PS4 you tap on square. I like fishing a lot in Stardew and even though in the beginning a lot of fish will get away it gets easier the more you do it because your fishing skill improves.

Thanks guys. I was concentrating so hard on trying to move the right bar that I didn't realise you only need to press square! I'm not really interested in doing fishing right now anyway, but I was trying to do the Spring tasks in the Community Centre.

Also, am I okay to keep stuff in chests without worrying about it going off? Even stuff like fish or eggs?

Yes you can store them in your chests without worrying about it.

I just bought this in the sale and played for an hour or so last night and have no idea what I'm doing.
I started hacking away at my garden and pretty quickly passed out.
The next day I became exhausted really quickly and my walk speed slowed down. Do I have no choice but to go to bed at this point? I don't have any food yet.

Should I check out some sort of beginners guide or just find my own way?
I don't have a lot of gaming time so I'd quite like to achieve as much as possible in one playthrough.

If you have limited time check a guide. There are some foraging items you can get that replenish your stamina. When your character pass out you will have less stamina the next day so I recommend paying atention to your stamina.

Yup I hate it too. I looked up the drop rate for some of the items and was like "really?"

I think shortly after that I got burnt out on it and stopped playing. I wish they would do something about that. Either make the items more common or increase the amount of worms per day.

Checking out beginner's guide is probably a good idea. Personally I don't want to look too much at guides because I want to discover things on my own and not think too much about my "performance", but if you want to achieve as much as possible in a short amount of time there's lots of good tips to look up.

But the basics is that you have limited energy (stamina) each day which will cause you to become really slow and eventually pass out if you don't stop using energy. There are foraging items that restore energy. Also, using your scythe to cut grass will not deplete energy so that's something you can do even when low on energy. Also make sure you go to bed before 2 AM as you will otherwise pass out and wake up with less energy for the next day.

I hate that this hasn't come to Switch yet. It would have been a great summer game for me and my summer is kind of over in two weeks. Ever Oasis and Splatoon 2 covered pretty well but still.

Edit: Going to buy it anyway whenever it comes. My most hyped Switch indie game with Thimbleweed park and Steamworld dig 2.

Oh okay nice!
I also saw the witch fly by and was very confused by that lol.

I'd like to buy clay from Robin early on and artifact loot crates from whoever later on, then I can remember to forget the hoe altogether when I go out and use up some useless millions.

I just started playing it last week, and after faffing around for a couple of hours I found it very beneficial to watch some YouTube vids to get tips on getting started and things you need to keep an eye out for (for instance, make sure you build a silo before buying chickens otherwise you'll lose money every day feeding them). The Eurogamer video might be a good place to start for a few tips without spoiling anything. It's only about 6 minutes long if I remember correctly.

Same here, only need two or three more items to finish the museum collection but I'm in year six and have grown tired of running around the map digging up worm spots endlessly.

I agree, it's crap, but there is a way around. If you name something the ID number of an item, it will appear in your inventory.

Details.

Oh damn I might need to try this later. I'm guessing it works on PS4 too?

It does, but can hard crash your PS4 quite offten, to the point you have to turn your system off through the power supply to get it to work again. So I wouldn't go crazy with it. I only use it if I need a item that has a low spawn rate or is a couple seasons away.

Does this still demolish the PS4 Pro? I like to check in every once in a while.

At this point I might as well keep it uninstalled and wait for the Switch version.

This is what I'm thinking. The fact they blame the PS4 firmware when their game is the only one that does it and don't seem to care is pretty ridiculous.

I mean, thats the only reason I'd use it for, just to get those dumb low drop rate items. thanks!

I put a ton of time into the game this month on my Pro and haven't had a single problem with it.
