I didn't really have time to grab the demo, so I just bought it. I viewed it as "donating $5 to the cause of space combat games in general", but it's sad that a game that fits in that rare category is then lack-lustre. I wonder why it's so rare/difficult to do well?

I don't know why. Saying its an indie dev isn't much anymore either. I found the lack of a third person camera to be a big dissappointment since the models look nice and that view would help with some of the issues I had with the controls. The genre is very poorly represented lately which is very very sad.

Everyone says MW2's multiplayer is broken yet people keep playing it for some reason.

The match-making is just really slow if you are alone. If you party up it seems to go a lot faster and a lot of people on PC (clans) seem to roll as a party.

Also, people really fucking enjoy COD.

It does, but it's not automatic. They have separate store pages for the base game and the DLC. When you buy the base game, your order receipt will come with a voucher code. You have to go back to the GMG site and add the DLC to your cart and then apply the voucher to reduce it's price from to 10$ to free. Then you 'buy' the DLC and get it as a separate order from the base game.

Max 2 and 1 are a nice gift but most everybody into this type of games most have played them already. The crap DLC incentive for preorders should stop, instead "pre order and get a discount for the game" should be the norm.
