I looked at the FAQ on the official site, and I see no mention.

I'd assume if the demo has no upload option, then it can't be transfered.

Okay thanks, I had heard that progress could be transferred from the demo to the full version on the same system so I thought it might work cross system as well. I'll have to look for an upload option when I start it up.

Well, after 53 hours of Sora no Kiseki The 3rd and thus 200 hours of the Sora no Kiseki series in total, I've finished the trilogy. SC does a tremendous job of resolving the cliffhanger lingering at the end of FC, but the true power of Kiseki shines throughout The 3rd. Sure, you can easily discard it as an easy spin-off that recycles assets, but at least admit it that it's a gem of an RPG regardless. This series, with The 3rd in particular, totally made a sentimental wreck out of me. The final scenes are also extremely powerful and memorable. In sum, The 3rd left an incredible strong impression and I really, really hope that XSEED can find a way to get The 3rd localised, because both the game and the fans totally deserve it.

Craving for more, I jumped into Zero no Kiseki Evolution and I'm at the second chapter, around 25 hours in. I still have to get used to the cast (Tio and Randy are great), but Crossbell itself is fantastic. The capital is enormous and the surrounding areas are stunning - I even got a peek at Calvard from one of the towers on the borderline!

If the demo has the cross-save option, it's possible. If not, I don't think there is a way other than playing the demo yet again on that other system.

Man, the doors in 3rd are so long. Been on
Chloe's first door for three days now ^^;

Enjoying it though.

I completed Shiroki Majo. It's an interesting game in terms of where the Kiseki came from and how much Sora FC feels like echo's of the first Gagharv game, but the old fashioned RPG charm ends with the battle system. I can't think of a single JRPG with a battle system worse than this one.

Trying to do Kiseki de Pon in the 3rd and failing miserably. I just can't read fast enough. T_T
Looks like I will have to memorize all the questions/answers by heart. @_@

Finished it! Oh my god, I can't believe I managed to finish the whole trilogy. Over three hundred hours... after this I fear no JRPG!

Oh and apparently
Renne's
door on psp has half of its scene missing for some reason. I saw that scene on youtube some time ago and it wasn't in the game. But you can see it in a walk-through of HD version on PS3. Strange.

Has Falcom ever said whether they have an endgame in mind? Or are they going to milk this series forever while it's still selling without an overall conclusion entry?

^^;

So 2004-2014, 7 canon games to get to the halfway point of the series? 2024/2025 - when we get a final ending?

I better keep up my health if I want to live to get a satisfying end to this all! On the plus side, gives plenty of time to catch up.

Having only played the Sora trilogy, and planning on playing Zero/Ao next year, was hoping after Sen maybe the next Kiseki game would be the final one or 2nd to final one. Oh well.

The 3rd

Working through Chapter 5:

Cool game, reminds me of why I really liked Grandia Xtreme. If you've got a good battle system, dungeon crawlers w/cutscenes and lots of boss fights can be the best paced and most satisfying jrpgs. Love micro-managing my team with all the options to create a killer team and then just kick ass against tough bosses.

Only thing is I have SO.MANY.CHARACTERS it's so hard making 2 person teams (since 2 are required) out of like a dozen characters I want to use. Kind of want more chapters where you have to split into teams again so I can use everyone.

One thing that's annoying is from what I can tell there's no way to see a description for what a characters Craft attacks do outside of battle in the menus? Makes it a bit hard when picking teams if you're looking for specific Craft attacks (like characters with DEF down debuff Craft).

Also it's kind of hilarious how Falcom have a great combo of well written characters that usually aren't stereotypes AND have a great battle system....yet they have no idea how to pace these games ^^; FC/SC pacing is really bad because of the quests (which are usually great!) killing any pacing and the progression style, meanwhile 3rd
has a great dungeon crawler & great side stories but doesn't even try to pace them together and just lets the player choose their own pacing.
. I'm really hoping at some point during Zero/Ao/Sen/Sen II they've started to figure out how to mesh the story telling with the gameplay in a way that creates a very enjoyable paced rpg.

The Crossbell games are waaaaay better paced, especially Ao is a pretty wild ride all the way through. I basically devoured those games compared to the Sora trilogy where it certainly feels like Falcom was still figuring out how to do a wordy JRPG. Sen goes back to being FC 2.0 with its pacing but the sequel is much better in this regard.

Zero and Ao are the best paced game in the series as each chapter has its own big conclusion and the plotting keeps the revelations and all that coming to keep you hooked.

Fhoenix

If you want to play a game about saving small animals and children, FC has ideal pacing) Honestly I found the build up in FC to be more impressive than the stories the game tells in SC and 3rd. Ancient artifacts of power and angst (also ancient artifacts fueled by angst) have been done to death. FC has somehow felt fresh with all the low-key small scale events. Also that twist ending!

Sen 1 and maybe even Sen II has pacing that feels like it's going in slow-motion. Zero and Ao are my favorites yet. And 3rd :)

Damn, sad to hear Sen no Kiseki is a slow entry. Other than the pacing is Sen a worthy main entry in the Kiseki series? Or is it going to be years down the road the Suikoden IV of the series? Was really looking forward to Sen because
The Empire
seems like an interesting location in the Sora series.

Sora is great outside the pacing stuff, and it sounds like the Zero/Ao entry is gonna be pretty awesome. Does the battle system keep improving each game -> Sen II? Because by The 3rd it's quite good with a lot of strategy.

Also fuck this fishing minigame! Going to have to youtube the final hidden door instead of seeing it myself all because I'm not spending hours retrying minigames that are luck based : I can't beat the first level of the fishing minigame :(
If you mean the tournament, it's not as much luck based as one could think. I remember playing it for 30 minutes until I googled a way to catch a fish each time (mash buttonsat random intervals) and a strategy for each level - you have to use certain fish to catch pther ones. Knowing all this I was able to do a perfect run.

LOL, it took me the night, experimenting with that goddamn

Victory Jack
was more effing annoying.

The
tournament
fishing system makes it so that:
1. every time you press circle on an empty "bait", the 'timer' will reset.
2. there is a set of time, starting from the timer reset, that there will never be a catch. Lemme call this time as 'rest time' for a better term.

So if you can find the rest time, you can keep pressing periodically right after that rest time finish. Eventually, there will be a catch.

By pressing periodically, you are reducing the window of time that a fish may appear (in this case - limiting it to right after the rest time).

Not surprisingly, Sen I and Sen II has maybe the most polished battle systems in this series to date. Some may think the simplified quartz system is too easy to abuse, but it sure makes it a lot more fun. Even though it's slow, it's a really good main entry indeed. Especially Sen I for me. And it has
mecha battles
, how can it not be good?

I'm confused. For fishing, you pick the rod & the bait, then wait and when the "!" appears you hit O to reel it in.

Are you saying that you're not supposed to hit O and instead to wait longer before hitting O?

Any links to how to do a "perfect" run and get past this tournament? I looked at a couple of Japanese wikis and they didn't have any strategy suggestions.

I used this guide to get past through this.
As for pressing O, the basic idea is that you have to time it perfectly, but for some reason mashing it in a random intervals yields much better results.

I'm only talking about the timing, as Hasemo already mentioned the important part on where to get the big fishes.

I dunno how Hasemo got a perfect run "randomly" mashing O. I spent 4+ hours doing that and always lost. T_T

Basically, this is an illustration of what I am trying to say.

teLyb7r.png

Unlike in SC, pressing circle won't make
Estelle
raise the rod/bait. Eventually, there'd be a "!" right where you press circle. If it goes on a while and no bites, you might have probably gotten the timing wrong.

I don't know how foolproof this is (never tried again after finally winning), but the "rest time" exists and I used it to my advantage.

Ok, so still kind of confused but from your post (the Japanese link above doesn't really talk about timing/rest time?) basically the idea is that you want to put off the "!" mark from appearing for a while because the longer it takes to appear, the best chance of a good catch.

So instead of "Cast ..... Wait 10 seconds.... "!" appears...immediately hit O to reel in"

You want to do "Cast...wait 5 seconds...hit O before "!" appears...wait 5 seconds...hit O before "!" appears...do this for a minute extending rest time to a minute and then finally let "!" appear and hit O to reel in and you'll get the benefit of 60 seconds of rest time affecting the fish catch instead of 10 seconds"

Is that it? Gonna turn the game on and try it now.

basically the idea is that you want to put off the "!" mark from appearing for a while because the longer it takes to appear, the best chance of a good catch.

Nope. Good fishes are obtained by using smaller (that you need to catch).

What I did was to basically limit when the "!" can appear and time it to my button mash rate.

You want to do "Cast...wait 5 seconds...hit O before "!" appears...wait 5 seconds...hit O before "!" appears...do this for a minute extending rest time to a minute and then finally let "!" appear and hit O to reel in

Yup, something like this, but you don't "let the '!' appear". Instead, you should be pressing O at a steady rate. The "rest time" is shorter than 5, should be much closer to 1s, I think.

I don't think I've taken longer than 30s to get a catch. If it's reached that point and still no bite, you're probably mashing the button too fast and slow down by a bit.

Just think of the method as playing a whack-a-mole where a mole appears at an interval of 1s, and you keep whacking the same hole until eventually, he comes out at that hole and you hit him.

Ok, just did this and it worked great for round 1. Caught a fish everytime with a 1 second wait tap tap tap tap. But now on round 2 in the sewers I'm using that JPN link above and using the first rod and "mimizu" in the sewer and so far I've gone 3 rounds without catching a single fish using the same technique as round 1. :(

Fishing game is the true boss of this game. Unless you know the trick.
Hasemo is right, there is a perfect way to fish which will allow you to catch fish every single time with 100% probability (I did not miss a single one after I started using it). It relies on button mashing. If you are mashing when "!" sign comes you will catch the fish every time. But after several seconds of mashing the sign will not appear. So what you do is you mash for several seconds, then you take a couple of seconds break, then mash again for several seconds. You repeat this. If after sever cycles the sign does not appear, you lengthen the break to three seconds, then to four, this way you will get to the sweet spot where the break is long enough for the sign to start appearing, but by that point you are mashing again. After you get it right, it will be just a test of your endurance.
And if course you need to know which bait to use, but that's written in all the guides.

So how bad is the
Casino in terms of luck-based mini-game doors? I just unlocked that door and gonna try that after I beat fishing.

Fhoenix

Casino is not hard at all. After you lose once it will ask you if you want to play in easy mode. In easy mode your chances are much better and there is no drawback to it. So after some tries you will get a lucky streak and win.

If you try to play it normally
on the second match
, very bad. It's very rare for him to have a no hand, and pretty common to have 2 pairs.

I'm stubborn so I didn't want to lower the difficulty. After I got fed up, I just went with "ALWAYS RAISE or FOLD" strategy.

If you always raise, you only need to win twice. Fold if you think the cards are not on your side. If you lost even once, it's probably better to give up and restart the poker round.

Honestly, none of this mini-games are as bad as the worst of
Criminal Girls PSP
's minigames. >__>

Yeah, I am not proud and did not see a reason to fight somebody who has artificially high luck.

Speaking of Poker, after years of playing it in all sorts of mini-games, yesterday I played with a real person. Now I finally know how the game actually feels like. I must say, mini-games don't do it justice.

Alright, beat the entire fishing thing. Got lucky on round 3 and even after 15 rounds the opponent only had like 700 points. That was super annoying, hope that was the most frustrating part of clearing the game 100% lol :p

So I finished Ys Foliage Ocean in Celceta. Pretty nice game, but the beginning was pretty boring IMO (esp. the battles). Doesn't make it any better that I dislike Adol. Anyways, I'm not here to talk about Adol or my dislike for him or the Blue Hair Adventurer he's taking a lot of memo/notes for.

How's Nayuta no Kiseki?

Is this really a Kiseki game (hi there, NPCs) with Ys gameplay, or is this an Ys game with a Kiseki-like setting?

I know part of the reason for its development is reaction to "Eiden battles are too slow".

P.S. Frida is sexy.

There shouldn't be a big problem, as long as the download version of SC was fixed so it works properly on the Vita. The PSP version came on two UMDs so you originally had to swap them from time to time.

If possible, the PC version is the best one to play on because of the graphics and all that jazz but playing it on a handheld ain't a bad choice. Just be ready to maybe jump through some hoops later.

It would be easier to read kanji on PC because of higher resolution. But I played the whole trilogy on Vita and there was no problem. You do have to "swap discs" when you play SC but it only happens in one chapter. And as I mentioned earlier psp's the 3rd has a part of one scene missing, so you would have to watch it on youtube.

Can anybody tell me, for Zero no Kiseki Evolution do you need max DP for anything? Or is it okay to lose a couple of points?
I got 39 instead of 41 in Prologue, since apparently you lose DP if the NPCs you are protecting are hurt even a little. But I just can't kill enemies fast enough in that battle for them not to touch NPCs at all and I don't want to replay the whole Prologue.

You get a better bonus if you carry over your save into Ao, same as going from FC to SC. You obviously don't miss out on anything important.

In addition, there's a margin of 22 points between achieving Rank 1 (376) and the maximum amount of DP (398) you can get during your first playthrough. I wrapped up the second chapter last night with 149 DP (instead of max. 162) since I too had the NPCs get hit in the Prologue and missed some hidden quests in Chapter 1. I'm trying to keep up with all the DP by using a FAQ from now on, since Crossbell is just too large to check with each individual at several occasions during each chapter.

Could be just me, but Zero's chapters feel significantly longer than the ones I'm used to from Sora. I hit the 35 hour mark just before completing the second chapter.

The 3rd

Chapter 6 is kind of tedious.
I really like The 3rd, but the whole "let's re-use every dungeon/location from FC/SC instead of making new dungeons" thing is pretty -_-; worst is stuff like at the start of Ch.6 in the black & white school where you have to fight like 15 boring easy enemy fights and it's just a waste of time. I like how in Kiseki games you can normally avoid most normal enemy encounters.

Other random thoughts:

-My team is ridiculously overpowered at this point. Like it's weird because I feel like with still another 2 chapters left, I'm at endgame post-boss lvl.999 type stats with max orbments and stuff. It's like the only way to make challenging bosses at this point is to make them brokenly overpowered as well. Can definitely see why this is the final game in the Sora series; there's no way to have a balanced game from this point.

-I never, ever, ever thought I would end up using Tita; especially not as my MAIN ATTACKER. But wowowow after getting her GIANT MECHA she does insane physical damage, has ridiculously high HP/Def and is really fast on the turn order. She's basically a one-girl team. Between her as physical & Kevin as magic, the other two characters are just overkill.
