Given that the jump from PS2 to PS3 was bigger than PS3 to PS4 (in terms of subjective perception, at least) I have to disagree, but maybe once I'm playing it I'll be convinced.
Thanks for the comparison man. I fail to see how the ps4 is using the superior cutscene character models when they look exactly the same?

I'd speculate maybe there was only ever one model for Joels daughter, since those scenes have less stuff going on and are more scripted, the PS3 could probably handle a better looking model

Lol. There are no absolutes, even if one has played and beaten the game. I am getting it again so that I can play it on the PS4 with the upgrades, have a chance to play multiplayer with all DLC and renewed player interest, and so that I can see how Naughty Dog works with the new hardware. This thread is full of shenanigans.

It's funny that people can't stop screaming "We want 1080p and 60fps before anything else!", but as soon as that's prioritized over extra graphical detail, everyone is dumbfounded at how it doesn't look like a fucking breakthrough in graphical fidelity. It's a PS3 game with better IQ and improved performance (framerate), what did you expect?

I knew it. People not satisfied, people expecting "more", more of what? Who knows, probably a remake. Since the day this was announced, it was a huge shitstorm and it's not going to stop.

Why did you expect more though? After the trailer they released for it, it looked exactly the same (discounting the 60fps).
It hasn't been that long in development and probably just a small team at ND have been working on it to get it to run at 1080p/60fps on the PS4. They never promised UC4 quality of graphics. Then you'd be waiting a whole lot longer for it.

I stand by what I said. If these shots aren't indicative of the real thing and it gets pooped on because of that. That's all on Sony/ ND marketing plan to show us shit all.
I am not saying it shouldn't sell or anything. I hope it will do another 7mil+ on PS4, because it's a fucking awesome game. But imo they shouldn't have let it come to this.

Maybe it's a credit to how good they got it to look on PS3 that there isn't really a significant upgrade

Wouldn't say that the prologue house was one of the worst looking parts.
Didn't mean it like that. I just always thought it felt like a dramatic improvement in visuals a couple hours in and, for comparison's sake, would have more character models that would have higher quality cutscene versions and more assets that were created in higher fidelity that were added to this version. Maybe they haven't played it before.
I think it's a "problem" with my capture card config, I have set colour range on standard (16-235) instead of expanded (0-255)

Pretty Bad? you're mad my friend, Remember this is a PS3 game that they've uprez'ed. I'ts not like the jump from PS2 to PS3 with the HD jump. I think this looks very good considering. The better textures give a real sense of weight & place. I think it was a great looking game and now is AMAZING
The PS4 screens are not mine, taken from the first post, I tried to reproduce same situation on PS3 game.

Looks like it's a jump from a console to a PC port when comparing the screens. IQ is better and the improved AA stands out the most. It's exactly what I was expecting. Not sure why people were expecting the game to look like UC4. The game looked fantastic as it was on the PS3.
