Oh god not Amiibos vs Gacha again.

Gacha has a hard limit if you just set one for yourself. I mean, Nintendo will keep making Amiibo forever so theoretically it's just as bad as Gacha under Ethan's terms.

Since an extra episode of the podcast was funded by patrons this month, Sewart and I are recording a thing tonight at 9 pm EST. It's a pilot called Review Re-View, and in this episode we'll cover Stewy's 'controversial' review of Square's PS1 RPG Chrono Cross. Also, I just wanted to say that I'm extremely surprised by the announcement of the new show. I really wasn't expecting a bonus show to come from the Patreon (I'm satisfied enough by getting a show per week) but wanted to thank you all for putting it together and living up to the funding tier.

If it's any good I'll up my monthly contribution.



On the other hand, if it stinks, I'm going to do a chargeback for every last damn cent I've ever given you all.

Daaaaaamn! This was actually an idea Greg and I had had a while back, and figured that the Patreon goal was a good excuse to try it. However, since the previous goal was a per episode goal and now it is a monthly goal, we have raised it.

Augh! Well is it "Review Re-View?" Cuz we're totally different and besides they definitely have more viewers than us so it definitely won't conflict.

Player One Podcast hosts I came to post today how much I appreciate you have not mangled your lovely podcast with ads. To that, I have to say thank you and it's very much appreciated.

I used to listen to many podcasts to help pass the boring mundane work blocks or when I go for walks or go to the grocery store and I have a 2 hour commuting time every day.

I have had to cut that down and strip out many of what were my favorite podcasts. Some are tolerable, but others (Retronauts, I'm looking at you here) are begrudgingly difficult at times and I've almost have to stop listening and unsubscribe at this point.

I have subscribed and am I premium Giant Bomb member, gladly. However, I can't and won't be paying for every single podcast no matter how much I love it.

Player One Podcast hosts, you guys are one of the few podcasts left I am still enjoying and look forward more and more each week and appreciate even more with the way other podcasts are going. You are on my shortened (drastically so) list of podcasts I look forward to each week. To that I salute you and award you a spot on the b3b0p list of highly approved podcasts.

Retronauts used to be my favorite podcast and I looked forward to more than anything, but the ads are long and feel often. Often enough I dread now listening. I would listen, re-listen, go back and listen (now that's all I do). The Simpson's Game and Tiny Toons episodes are my favorites :)

Honorable mention to the daily posted Games Daily YouTube by Kinda Funny Games. I put it on when I'm cooking and eating dinner.

Love Generation 16 too. Keep it up.

I usually like to dance around like a goof who got let out of a mental asylum too early sneering at Ethan's protective ways, but I must agree with his wife forbidding unboxing videos. That's straight up advertising and materialistic behavior. Surprised that CJ doesn't mind. Not that it makes him a terrible person. Of course not (actually might be worse than the eternal GAF insult

More than anything I sure hope that YouTube Kids has no actual ads. Especially because kids as old as 5 have a hard time recognizing the difference between what is an ad and what isn't. It gets even worse with product placement or some kind of corporate colab. Something tells me YouTube Kids probably doesn't fight for the kids though as much as it fights for the sponsors. Hopefully I'm wrong. Just the old bleeding heart of a person who studied mass media here is all.

I'm like 15 minutes into the podcast but I had to comment about the intro discussion. Liked it a lot. I'm not a parent so I wasn't aware there was such a thing like YouTube Kids. Then again I still have no idea where YouTube hides its YouTube Gaming channel unless you google it. YouTube is weird in general with how they promote their platforms.Not sure if it's the new update to Desktop Youtube but Kids and Gaming is found in the 3x3 square icon next to the upload button and notifications button.

I haven't listened yet, but the topic of YouTube is a big one for me. As a parent, I don't like it and I wish I'd never exposed my kids to it (with dad being a video game nerd, we're a pretty tech-friendly household).

But 90% of the content my kids watch and enjoy on YouTube (or YouTube kids) is garbage. Lame pranks, lame stunts, whatever lame challenge is going around or unboxing crap and stuff like EvanTube.

I try to limit their consumption of it, but we haven't enacted any sort of broad rule about it.

Watching other kids play with toys in lieu of playing with toys is as baffling to me as watching other people playing video games in lieu of playing video games.

Also, comparing the Uncharted series to a chain of fast-food restaurants ought to be a jailable offense.

My daughter is almost 4 and I like Youtube to watch a lot of classic Disney cartoons that are not available in any other media. Maybe because the old ones has weapons, physical harm and other fun stuff. The original Sailor Moon anime is also very cool and you can find a couple of episodes on Youtube.

About other podcast, 8-4 lost your mojo in the last 2 years. Cant say exactly why. But Back in My Play has amazing episodes. Loved all the original Xbox series. And DLC with Jeff Cannata is worth check.

Whoa, wtf happened there? I will try to track this down this morning. I didn’t catch that when editing last night.

A-ha - so I used a previous episode as a template and even though the tracks were not in the project anymore it was playing old Greg audio during part of the show. Fixed file coming shortly!

EDIT: Now fixed. Delete and redownload in your podcast client to get the new file. And thanks for alerting me to the issue!!

Oh man I need to download the fixed version... it's clear something went wrong but listening to it blind it make Sewart sound like a jerk who just talks over everyone..lawl.

First time in 6+ years... So CJ is human after all.
