I will be devastated if I don't get the Totoro one. I have the first two of Tim Doyle's The Wire character prints framed but missed the Marlo crew. He said they don't have plans to print more and I don't see any on eBay. Sucks.

Got an exclusive Party Down Mondo poster from the Drafthouse Ultimate Party Down Marathon earlier this year and a poster for the special Young Adult screening that the Drafthouse had last month by some girl from New York. Very sharp.

Same. Anyone have tips for getting notified immediately when they're on sale? I always have Twitter open at work, but oftentimes I'll be "in the zone" while coding and don't notice the icon turning blue to indicate there are new tweets, so I'll miss the sale by like 5-10 minutes.

I have been refreshing since 7:00 am... so mad and saddened right now. I have never successfully gotten a poster from Mondo. This is impossible.
The lag... I got to Paypal with both the posters, then only the regular left... then final payment screen on Paypal won't load... everything sold out.

ARGH! How do you guys do it? What's the secret?

If I miss a future Laputa release I am really going to knock over a magazine rack!

Anyone have a guesstimate of how much the variant of Totoro will fetch for on eBay?
Do these things usually die down after the hype or does the value just keep on going up?
I might still want one if it is not too much of a markup... argh, pretty sad right now.

Same happened to me (caught it on Twitter 2 seconds after it was tweeted, way before I got the auto-txt sent to me), except I managed to snag the regular (variant was sold out).

I think our mistake was using Paypal, actually. I thought since all my payment info was saved, it would be quicker, but the extra clicks and bouncing through Paypal's servers are too slow. Copy/pasting a CC # into Mondo's field and paying them directly I think ends up being quicker.

Also it sounds like you were hitting refresh on the site. Watching twitter is probably quicker, since you may have seen a cached version of the website pre-adding Totoro for a few reloads.

ARGH if I'd known all of this (from prior experience) I could've gotten both! Oh well, for my first try at a Mondo poster, I'm pretty happy to have at least gotten one. If the color change was the only difference I probably wouldn't have cared (the "rarity" doesn't matter so much to me), but the Japanese text...that's what I really liked about it.

Got the Totoro regular version! Yeah, I had my iPad out and reloaded the tweets and freaked when I saw it since I hadn't gotten the text. Had Mondo's page up, reloaded quickly and bam, got to add it to my cart. Never bought a poster from the site so I don't know if the number in the email invoice is their stock number for the item or the number of the print out of 450.

I would have liked the variant but the added cost wasn't worth it IMO.
