I highly recommend "Seeds of Anxiety" (Fuan No Tane) aswell, by some dude calld Nakayama Masaaki (I think).

It's a series of really short, short-stories, and most often without any sort of explenation or proper ending. It's amazing and everyone should check it out.

The only version of this that I found contain's a "Translator's Note" that essentially says, "I don't know what the fuck I'm doing, I just sat down with a dictionary and made this". Is there a more reliable translation floating around the internets?

Junji Ito is indeed awesome. I love his realistic artwork and unnerving stories. I've never read Amigara Fault before, but I highly enjoyed it. I try to pace myself on his stuff though, because I don't want to read too much and then find out there's none left.

Sorry to bump this thread, but I didn't read this until today.

What surprised me more than the ending was when I figured out that the main character (Owaki) was male. I thought he was a girl for most of it. :lol

I didn't realize it was a guy until the the kiss... but even then, I still initially assumed they were lesbians before considering that he was a dude.

I first saw this when someone posted this on the /x/ (Paranormal) board on 4chan (which is definitely the best board they have in my humble opinion) and yeah, it's fucked up. I don't quite get what those who were dissatisfied with the ending were expecting, though.

I was going to post "the main guy looks like a chick because the manga is kind of old and this style was en vogue when it was drawn" but apparently it came out in 2002, well, what do you know?

didnt yet read OP's link, but...i take it was the only one who wanted to be freaked out by Uzumaki and wasnt? i mean, the contortion shit is creepy, but it just kinda drags as i went on. "he loved spirals SO HE MADE HISSELF INTO A SPIRAL" "these two were inseparable and people wanted to separate them SO THEY MERGED" etc. hard to get freaked out when it felt formulaic at times, no?

im down to read more by this guy, gonna bookmark a few recommended here. in a similar american vein, i was told to check out Black Hole, as well.
