Tomb Raider screens

Looks great, liking the proportions of her breasts. Not too much like they usually have. Lara looks incredible as usual.

If they get rid of the QTEs even more than Underworld's slow moments and fix the acrobatic gun combat (or tone down the combat entirely) I'm definitely in day one.

Okay that one looks better. But the lighting seems a bit strong and there's still low res textures Q_Q
I fully feel that the character is early days, there's some dodgy skinning and some of the textures seem inconsistent. It should definitely improve.

Shouldn't be a problem since they are unlikely to be very close to each other, mechanically. If the new TR is centered around a large singular location to work through to complete goals/objectives, this one may automatically be the more interesting title as UC3 is likely to be more of UC2, a very linear thrill ride, setpiece-driven action game, like Gears. I hope the QTE/'press the button you see on-screen NOW' stuff is mostly gone in this new game.

There's something, or many things, that look totally off in these screenshots =\

You're crazy. Of all the busted-ass screenshots GAF sees and comments on, you think these are 'totally off' ?

Graphically, meh. Artistically, I fucking love it. They're doing a great job of making her an expressive, emotive character if these screens are anything to go by.

As a Tomb Raider fan I hope Tomb Raider is nothing like Uncharted other than featuring "exotic locales". I do not want a shooter with some platforming/puzzles. I do not want a "Cinematic Experience". I do not even want story being a big deal other than to provide a reason to move from one location to the next. Sadly I predict it will be all of those things.

Screens look alot better when they're not too big for my monitor... except that fire icon which looks a bit out of place

Horrible textures. Like the new Lara, although she doesn't look that upper class anymore.
She doesn't look like a stripper anymore. If anything, she nails the look of someone born into privilege who really wants to get away from it and then gets in over her head and in terrible danger and is forced to fight to survive for the first time in her life, which is a good archetype to start from.

MMM the screens look a lot better when sized down. :lol

I'm sure they'll continue to improve things up to release. I can't stress enough how awesome this new tone is for the franchise. It's finally trying to look and feel more grounded than the plastic doll look and tone of past games. A grittier, open world, survival horror esque Tomb Raider that stars a Lara Croft with realistic proportions that doesn't look like a stripper? Yes please.

CrushDance said:
What's so SMH about that thought? Are you saying that a sequel that already looks inline with the predecessor is more interesting than a reboot on the level that has been revealed about the new TR? As much as I crave new(er), less mainstream game templates, more interesting doesn't automatically mean better when it comes to the final game experience.

I dunno :/ I been spoiled by Uncharted. It's still too early and I like to see it in motion. I do like Lara's face in the game and that's about it.

NOTE TO EVERYONE: please stop comparing tomb raider to uncharted because they've never had much of anything in common in terms of gameplay, they just both happen to deal with getting treasure from mysterious places, which you also find in fucking resident evil and zelda games. thanks. i'll be buying both.

There's one thing this game won't feature: Nolan North.

And for that, we can all be grateful.
you don't know that for sure :p

Why are some (lots) of those textures so low-res? It really hurts the screenshots :/
Models look great, but please, improve those textures.

it looks like they're trying to break into the torture porn genre by slicing her up anyway they can.

This may be a shock, but I am sure there are people that never liked, or are sick of overly scripted thrill ride games no matter how polished or graphically impressive they are.

It does look like some of the effects are turned off/down in some screens. Also her finger positions are weird and her armpit seems unusually large and flat in that one screen. Looks good otherwise.

This reminded me of a thread with Samus fanart (Samus being injured whatknot) and gaffers going "I like my women desperate" :lol

Why does she have pants on instead of short shorts? Pre-order canceled.

They better have cloth damage in this game.

the color palette is too monochromatic. low res textures add to this muddiness.
the gritty laura model looks excellent, but out of place in these contrived ewok style underground villages.
the environment feels forced and game-y, especially the ritualistic candles and hanging cocoons.
if this is the birth of laura, shouldn't she be surviving on a desert isle ala Lost in Blue.
