I'm happy for those that are hyped for him. I just never got into Beast Wars.
Yeah. I grew to love the show, and they did an excellent job with the figure, but I just don't much dig BW designs pre-Transmetal era. Rhinox in particular doesn't do much for me, his head and face are just so... Untransformery in a franchise dominated with helmets and visors and such.

For me that's the reason why his face design is pretty cool.

Shame about the one paint splotch on the front. Even greater shame is how it's already causing people freaking out over QC issues. It's clear already that this thing isn't near as bad as MP Sideswipe. Seems that splotch is the only paint issue on the whole thing otherwise. Now we get to enjoy the giant witch hunt that will be when all the fans scour the surface of their Prowls for minor imperfections so they too can cry "shit qc". Sometimes it's valid, but the community has gone way overboard about it lately.

Other than that, dear god I want that toy now. Have to wait for Streak to come in to save on HLJ's shipping, but man that wait is going to be so much harder with all these photos hitting.

The sculpt is so so sooooooo good. I'll probably always have it in Robot mode.

Saw the new Generations figures that come packed with a comic book. The cover artwork is *so god damn bad.* I mean... Wow. Those faces are the stuff of nightmares. Who approved this, isn't the point of it to be visually appealing to make the product more enticing?

Stealth bomber Megatron is conceptually interesting, though. Is that an homage to the unreleased G2 Megatron/Starscream 2-pack (later repainted for BW2nd and RiD), or was Megatron a bomber at some point that I just can't recall?

The stealth bomber Megatron design was his form during the tail end of the ongoing IDW comic series that preceded MTMTE/RID.

Gimmie that classic/IDW Soundwave! WFC is great, but we need a true classic!

One of the more better designs Megatron had lately. It's a pity it didn't last long, was only in a few issues, probably features as much in the Megatron one shot which is also collected in the Dark Prelude collection of one shots for Orion Pax, Megatron, Bumblebee, Thundercracker, Hoist and Trailcutter.

Of which majority stories were written by James Roberts ;)
Wish the Orion Pax one-shot had better art though, but Trailcutter is hilariously awesome.
When're we gonna get a Whirl Spotlight?

My MP Prowl has been sitting in customs all day today.

Never had a figure sit in customs for more than a day. Grrrrr. As long as I get him by the end of the week, I have zero issues. Still, annoying that he's so close and just waiting for someone to mark him as OK so they can send him the last leg to my door.

Soooooooo. MP-22. Ultra Magnus.

Redeco of MP-10 with an armour trailer?

KIND OF EXCITE

Wait, seriously?

Thank Primus. Been wanting this since the new Prime released.

289$? God DAMN. That is alot of money, but I think I'm going to need to get it. Preordered. That Prime mold will be so sexy in Magnus colors.

It always baffles me how and where BBTS is getting all their info before everyone else. They have preorders up long before any Japanese retailers have them, before the existence of said figure is even acknowledged by Takara in the form of an announcement, concept art, photo, etc. How do they do it?

Sometimes they're just bullshitting. I still don't believe Bumblebee and Wheeljack are coming until we get pictures.

Also, I literally preordered Prowl the same hour they announced him. Still no word from BBTS about it.

They've never been wrong about an MP.

Same. Mine was listed as available this morning.

But, on the other hand, they have never called them out as far ahead as they have with Wheeljack, Bee and Ultra Magnus. I believe that all this will pan out, but there's definitely a higher likelihood that BBTS is just full of crap with these ones.

Should be able to get my hands on my MP Prowl Thursday afternoon. Cannot wait to mess that figure. MP Sideswipe is currently my favorite TF of all time and Prowl has seemed to even top that. Love these small car bots. So much fun and personality, but still durable and playable.

Isn't BBTS the biggest online toy store? I don't think it's unbelievable that they'd have the inside track with Takara and get their info before everyone else.

Between Magnus and Star Saber being in the lead of that Japanese poll my Autobot only Masterpiece rule is getting more and more expensive.

While they haven't been wrong about MPs yet, they have been wrong about releases in the past. Take the recent situation where they announced announced a Fire Convoy reissue only to cancel that a few days later. They'll put up a preorder for anything they get the faintest hint of. I'm not saying they're wrong about this one, but I'm skeptical until we get a Bee or Wheeljack announcement.

Man, I still remember when BBTS was kind of a rinky dink operation. Glad to see they've done well for themselves over the years.

Hmmm. Got the mail now, but I'm waiting to see if HLJ gets any additional stock of Prowl, since I'm getting a bunch of stuff from them.

Ahead of some of the most popular online retailers actually based in Japan such as AmiAmi, HLJ, and Hobby Search? Ahead of e-HOBBY, the online store actually affiliated with Takara? Seems odd that BBTS would get info ahead of all these stores. We don't have any confirmation or announcement from Takara, a price seemingly pulled out of thin air and next to no details about the figure. I'm not saying they're wrong, but it's certainly weird.

And then you have to wonder, are all the other online stores actually getting this insider info as well, or are they just putting up preorder listings in response to BBTS putting their's up? Are they pretty much forcing these sites to put up competitive pricing without even knowing wholesale prices simply so they don't lose preorder numbers to BBTS? I dunno, it all seems kinda fucked up to me.

HLJ now states that they aren't getting more Prowl, so I paid for mine on BBTS. Overpriced and high shipping, but at least I don't have to worry about getting it.

Seriously, why are these things only made to fill preorders?

I don't think BBTS is BSing because they haven't been wrong about MPs before, and because other stores eventually followed suit and offered up WJ and BB preorders. I can't imagine them ALL putting up orders without knowing for certain they'd be available, at least. One or two, sure. But practically every major outlet?

I imagine BBTS is jumping the gun early on some of these because they have admitted to getting burned before by not being the first out of the gate with putting up preorder pages. They even sent out emails about this regarding Metroplex.

They are pretty significant, and because of the amount of business they tend to do, I imagine they just don't give a shit anymore if they put up orders as early as they do.

I've seen them put up a few bits of reprint info and stuff ahead of actual announcements as well. Considering the original way back concept picture too, it has strong merit. I'm willing to believe.

You have to note that these things are made for Japan, so your experience with import shops is far different than what the average consumer over there experiences. You can definitely walk into a store in Japan and buy these off the shelf if you want. They aren't made to fill preorders. In fact, the reason for the Datsun brother delay we got in the first place was to dramatically increase the production.

The other thing is, Takara has to be really careful about how many of these they make. They're expensive to buy because they're expensive to produce. Over manufacturing could kill a lot of the potential profit from the mold. Each unsold unit is a significant chunk of cash. They also do re-releases of popular MPs every once in a while. Pretty much every modern MP gets at least 1 extra production run within a year of release.

I'd say there's zero likelihood they're full of crap, because they've never been wrong about an MP yet, but they've been the first to break news about them before. They have very good Japanese TF connections. I'm willing to go with "innocent until proven guilty" with this, especially since HasTak hasn't contradicted them on Wheeljack or Bumblebee, despite having plenty of time to have done so at this point.

Yeah, that back kibble is nuts. Not a fan of the bright yellow accessories either.

Bring on the dinobots, they're all I care about.

DotM's only Leader class Primes were retools of the excellent RotF mold. You may be thinking of the godawful Ultimate class toy (Butterfly Prime), which was indeed a complete disaster.

Or "Generations" is a mistake. Seems pretty weird that the Leader class toy of AoE Optimus wouldn't be under the AoE line's banner.

Mike M

Nick N
Wouldn't be the first time a toy was branded as being part of the "wrong" line, though in those cases the figures were released after their proper line had concluded, not before they had started.

Or maybe they want the movie continuity represented in Generations. Who knows.

Oh god, I forgot how ugly that thing was.

In other news: MP Grimlock reissue.

http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TAK11775&mode=retail

Kind of not surprising after the Asian re-issues of late.

Considering the markup this guy usually gets, this...isn't the world's worst price.

I feel lucky I got mine for a good price, I think it was $110 or so, even if I thought it was overpriced at the time.

That right there is a damn good price.

I wish I was into collecting MPs when he first came out, being able to grab the Hasbro release for a decent price would have been great.

Not so much anymore.
