Transgaf: 'cause boys will be girls (and vice versa)

Why not throw my hat in the ring as well? I've lurked this thread for a long time, but felt it wasn't quite right to post yet.

Well... A crippling wave of dysphoria over Christmas followed by finally seeing a gender therapist and a whirlwind of a month I'm out to a few people and on a very low dose of HRT. Can't even consider presenting female for a few more months because of home circumstances, among other things.

Regardless, its great to finally be working on getting myself sorted out and have a (good, but vague) plan for my next few years together. Graduate, find work in my field as male, transition in closet/get voice where I want it, get legal documents changed, hope to god current workplace isn't full of bigots and keeps me on when I come out, and then never look back.

So yeah, I'm Selene here's to a good year for all of us.

Welcome to the thread!

Feel free to ask any questions you may have. We also have a small discord group if you rather talk in real time instead of post by post.

Anyone have any experience with Dr. Zukowski? My girlfriend is weighing in on her options and he's come up a few times and was hoping anyone here might have more input on him. :)

Depends on whether or not she wants major forehead work done. Zukowski doesn't do type III forehead reconstruction.

For the nose, jaw, and chin he does better work than Spiegel for about half the price.

Given how down and even angry I got on T (questioning AMAB diagnosed with low T for those who don't know) I think I'm done with it. Only way I'd give that a chance again is with a more stable daily usage and it doesn't seem like insurance wants to cover patches or gel. Still, I think that at least gave me something of an answer, that at best it doesn't do much for me and at worst just makes me volatile and angry.

Should probably find some local support groups to see how that works out, and anyone mind firing a discord invite? Thanks.

Thanks. :) Did you go through him? (If that's alright to ask?)

She doesn't want much, so already passes well enough, just a little refinement.

I saw he also does Breast Augmentation and more as well not sure if he's as well known for those too, or if it's better to find a specialist for each?

I'd say get a specialist.

I'd say get a specialist.

That's what I was thinking. Dr. Z just comes very highly recommended from what I've seen elsewhere.

Didn't know if like a discount was a thing if you also got BA with him too something.

considering a few days ago Alucard was having doubts about doing hrt .... i would have guessed that it is a no xD

Ahh, well thanks, I haven't exactly been following the thread all that closely.

Today I went to buy my first swimsuit, and... Damn. Everything is too short. And I still don't feel comfortable with bikinis. Specially since I have gained even more weight. Not being able to work out sucks.

Halfway through recovery.

Had my HRT consultation today. They drew my blood (something that wasn't supposed to happen until the 2nd appointment) and the Doc said that she would send out the prescription as soon as I have my therapist fax her the letter.

Will probably be starting 3-4 months earlier than I anticipated, which is kind of scary.

Good development. Congratulations

Any tips for a transgirl trying to learn makeup and dress more feminine occasionally? I never have a chance and with hormones not being an option anytime soon I'm getting anxious. I tend to imagine myself in a white top and red skirt, with red lipstick and some eyeshadow. Almost a 50s aesthetic. I have no idea where to start. And really, and tips would be great. Thanks!

It should have said Pics, because I can't adjust their size.

Damn I was way to busy when I typed that.

I do think you where the one to do it for me last time actually. Thanks for the offer Shidoshi.

This is the pic I need resized.

I'll download that IrfanView for next time, unless its easy to learn.

Sorry to pop in here like this, but this avatar has been bugging me. It's not the correct aspect ratio and it's blurry as hell. I thought I'd do it justice...

So last week, I finally got around to getting my social security card and birth certificate updated. I still have a bunch of other stuff to update (driver's license, voter registration, etc.) but the two big ones are out of the way.

Having a bit of a legal mess because the insurance company has decided that SRS is an aesthetic procedure for self improvement and not motivated by a medical condition. Meaning not getting my paid sick leave. I can still get paid due to an arrangement with my employeer, but I really don't want to try my luck with it.

Theoretically I would be fit to work in 5 days, but due to the still hellish dilation schedule (3 a day until I hit the three months mark I would need them to give me reduced working hours (and 50% salary) for a month. I will have to discuss it with the company on monday, but... Aesthetic surgery my fucking ass.

Bit late to answer this, but I wouldn't go to Zukowski. I've heard too many bad stories, with one woman I met in particular suffering a decade (and counting) of pain, emotional turmoil, and attempted repair surgeries with other surgeons after a botched "Dr. Z" FFS.

Just about every surgeon has bad outcome stories if you look hard enough, but for me Zukowksi hit a critical mass where I would not feel comfortable playing the odds. FWIW.

I'll give my two cents for this. When you're out in public, observe how other women dress. That's your goal. If you dress normally (instead of like, you're going out on the town) you'll blend in just fine. You just have to have confidence in yourself.

However, if you have a certain vision for yourself, by all means, you be you. There are toooons of makeup tutorials on YouTube. Try to get the basics down such as putting on foundation, eyeliner/shadow/mascara. Makeup works like dressing up: less is more.

Also congrats, Alucard. I've been watching you for a long time and I'm happy you're taking steps to be happy in your own skin. You're going to feel fantastic soon, babe!

(Also I had a successful consult and my SRS'll be May of next year, woo!)

While I have 'retired' from GAF, I thought I should probably update considering recent events. I'll be passing my two year anniversary for starting HRT early next week after a successful meeting with the surgeon carrying out my GRS.

The surgeon has requested I have a small course of pre-GRS electrolysis on the surgery site, but is happy to go ahead four weeks after I complete electrolysis (safeguard against infection). This does mean I was able to meet my weight loss goal as they made no mention of needing to lose any more weight during the physical assessment. I'm still trying to sort the electrolysis out and I don't know how long it'll take, but given the very low amount of hair that needs to be removed, I could be going back to the surgeon in as little as two months.

I've already been in discussion with my workplace for over a year about how this is going to work for my workshifts, and we've provisionally agreed one month of sick leave plus two months of light work from home.

Exciting times ahead?

This is amazing, congratulations!

On my own end Valentines day went amazingly well. I got my gitlfriend the cutest pair of cat ear headphones and cat ear headband that I could find and I gave her a Pusheen plushie she's been cuddling every night since :3

Almost 6 months later, the strogen situation has not been solved. There is still no way of buying estradiol valerate in 2 mg pills, and the replacements either come in tiny boxes with only enough pills for 10 days (at 4 mg daily), or are not covered by healthcare (case of progynova 1mg since my official dosage is 5 mg). I paid 17€ for a box of 20 pills when I can order 84 for 15€.

And the decision of the government to import drugs, although approved, will take months until it actually happens. In the end, the MTF population in spain has to survive with non pure E mixtures, patches, or like me, import them. I'm probably going to order enough E to last me for a year, just to be on the safe side.

There's been a shortage of the estrodial injections as well. I was lucky and got a high-concentration generic that should last me through most of this year. It cost $130 -- worth it, but still a pretty big gouge when other transitioning expenses are there.

I went to the consignment shoppe and got some more free clothes from the owner like I do every three months. I got a nice jacket, a top, and some more leggings.

I posted this in the LGBTQIA+ thread and Vazra referred me here so reposting it.

I don't know if this is the right place to post but I would very grateful if I could get a trans perspective on something I'm developing. (I'm cis.) I doubt whether I'm going to release it or that anyone other than myself would be even remotely interested in it but I'd still like to make it as respectful as possible and not based on ignorance (if nothing else, maybe I'll learn something). Maybe it's better to take it over PM so I don't spam the thread with irrelevant stuff.

I had a girl in my car the other day bragging about how good of a person she was because she dated a "trans woman" (actually a trans man) and how good she was for not judging/ putting up with them.

I have a question about Genders Dysphoria and assume that someone here has significant knowledge on the subject?

I am trying to understand the difference between Gender Dysphoria and Race Identity Disorder (general consensus is that there IS a difference).

Is this thread an appropriate place to discuss this or would this be better done over PM?

I appreciate that it is potentially a sensitive subject and do not want to offend anyone with my ignorance. I am open minded and just trying to get a better understanding.

Terrorblot, you look gorgeous! And, you pass just fine!

Interesting situation with the bus and anti-trans weirdness. I'm a firm believer that responding to something ignorant and hateful with ignorance and hate will not solve any issue. This doesn't just encompass anything against a particular subculture, just in general.

Represent who you are as a person and educate people if they will listen.

Some great advice here if you can be like this.

Granted I won't lie I am not this kinda person and I take EXTREME satisfaction in pushing it in peoples faces and really making them uncomfortable and ensuring they know exactly what I am and I am very happy to make them uncomfortable so, meeting them with tolerance and understanding doesn't work for everyone.

The Rachel Dolezal thread was pretty good.

Long story short : Gender Dysphoria is something that exists while Race Identity Disorder is something that does not because gender is something that exists and race identity is something that does not.

That seems to be the general consensus and having discussed the issue in that thread I certainly feel more enlightened and have had a long think about my own views on the matter - thats gotta be a good thing, right?

Im certainly sorry for causing offence initially with my questions in that thread but the internet is full of conflicting information on the subject and I believe that discussion and debate is a useful.

Don't be sorry for asking questions. Some people will come down on you for doing so, but don't give them too much though. Wanting to expand your knowledge or decrease your ignorance on any particular topic should never be a thing you're scorned for.
