I thought for sure there would be a bonus unlock for tibetan subtitles. Disappointed that there's not .
Apparently the Tenzin voice is Robin Atkin-downs, who I didn't even know if he spoke Tibetan...

How would a person such as myself go about becoming a decent player?

Play deathmatch until you get good. If you're having trouble, go to objective based modes where kills dont matter as much. If you still have trouble, do coop modes on easy.

I found Uncharted 2's stealth play more fun and less convoluted.

I like that U2's stealth attacks are very automated, but only because I think of U2 as an action shooter that includes stealth play as an added bonus to Drake's arsenal just to add a little variety for the player. To have it be as complex as MGS's would be a distraction that could even slow down the pace of the game. But for MGS, a game that wants the player to be methodical about their actions and be stealthy about it, their style works for me.

that's fine, but it doesn't make the stealth in MGS bad. I thought the stealth in UC1 and 2 was ok but largely unnecessary. By that I mean that I never once felt like I HAD to stealth people, I knew I could take cover and drop the whole room of guys. In MGS, I really needed to stealth kill a third of the room at least, well mostly because the enemies spawned like mosquitoes if you screwed up..

omg, in my head I just made some cereal parody with fruit loops and Sully... Follow you hose!

The difference is MGS is a stealth series, and PUNISHES you if you don't use stealth properly by flooding the level with enemies, Uncharted 2 is an action game and REWARDS you if you manage to pull off stealth by taking down every enemy in a level. Uncharted 2's execution of action stealth is relatively easy to do, that it keeps the gameplay brisk and enjoyable.

I can get a lot of kills, but I die a lot as well. Is there any way to combat this for a close range fighter? I usually Uzi and then melee.

I just finished a marathon session, playing most of the game in about 8 hours or so, only taking a break to breathe out and grab a bite. It just doesn't let go.

I really, really doubt that even ND can make Uncharted 3 look better without starting to cut some corners, but another ridiculously detailed game like this will be just fine.

There's only one problem. After playing this, I hesitate to go back to Dragon Age (preview copy) right away. It's a beautiful game but it's gonna look like Pong in comparison...

Neat how they thank a bunch of Sony studios in the credits... along with Bungie and Infinity Ward.

Also, Naughty Dog should totally go out of business and seed their people to other studios to create awesomeness everywhere.

Ran across these today from Comic Con panel. No spoilers, really. Just a great interview with NG and the VA's from UC2. If I ever saw Nolan North or Elena's VA around LA, I'd stop by and say hello in a heartbeat :lol Same goes for NG Dev's. After watching all the special unlock videos at the end of the game, I'll keep my eye open when walking around Santa Monica for NG doods.

Thanks for the links! Interesting panel. :lol

but ever so delicious
I think i'm upto chapter 21 or 22? I know i'm now
riding trucks after the village / tank shootout
. I haven't been this annoyed, frustrated, angry at a game in a long long time. A few of the sections have pissed me right off, i would put it down to my shit aiming but it's still frustrating :lol .

Awesome looking game though. When i got to the part before my spoiler above, i was just in awe.

Its saturdyay, sunny as all fuck and I should be at the beach but I'm going to go grab a bite and come back and play this. :D

I have to say, playing SP, really refreshes in your head the weapons in this game for multiplayer to come. I can't wait to get into MP and mix that up with my crushing playthrough.

omg, this is some silly shit, but I had to get it out of my system after I thought of it.

Just finished.

So... epic. Loved the finale.

I also loved the little things and details ND put into the game... like Drake's journal.

He actually updated it, which was really cool. Drake's also a pretty good artist, he seems to have drawn a lot of stuff from memory and he drew Tenzin's daughter, which made me feel a little warm inside :lol The journal on a whole was a great detail. The many moods of Sully.

Also, the dialogue is so great... "You brought a hooker to church?" "Sure why not." The delivery is hilarious.

The ending was a heck of a twist. I actually thought they were real yetis until Lazerovich pulled off the mask. Shambala looked amazing, despite having pretty much fallen apart.

So for the next game... I'd love more Sully.

Just finished, 9 1/2 hours exactly. Absolutely the definition of "AAA". Only a few minor complaints overall. That this was done in 2 years amazes me. ND should be extremely proud of themselves.

I didn't get a single freeze, MGS4 bundle 80gb PS3 here. Some texture pop-in though, similar to U3 engine games. Happened when opening the journal mostly, and a few cutscenes.

The water effects, lighting and textures combined with the meticulous animation are so pleasing to the eyes. The sound effects and music are reference quality. The most overall polished game I've played this gen.

This is the best looking game I've seen mainly because of the attention to detail. Even the most inconsequential rooms look like they've been meticulously hand-crafted by a team of 100. It's like they made the whole game without using a cut-and-paste function.

Man this game is so much fun. Straight up balls to the walls action. I had three friends over last night and we were supposed to chill for a bit and then go bowling. Well that never happened as they just insisted in watching me play this game for 2 hours straight.

They got to see the entire
Train part and the flashback to the beginning of the game. That was really well done too. Loved how they used different camera angles and cut out parts to speed through it. It was so much fun having 3 people rooting for you as you kick ass and barely survive. The last fight of the train was so much fun too. I really like how smooth the fighting feels this time. Sure it is easy but it really is fun.

Yeah, let's kill the golden goose, grind up the meat and add it to the feed.

It doesn't work that way, the reason why Naughty Dog can make great games is they have a collection of talented people working in a studio with a collaborative environment without a lot of bureaucracy, and with full first-party publisher support, most studios simply don't have that, seeding Naughty Dog people in those studios won't make them better.

23.
6 hours in. Playing on Hard first time around.

Fuuuuuuuuck.

You're already there at 6 hours on your first run? My end game runtime was about 12:30... but I did spend a lot of time trying to find those damn treasures.

Elimination and Objective modes will teach you to be more careful with your life, if that's your problem. But if you prefer close range, I'd say you should hunt for shotguns when you can. Personally I use pistols more than long guns, but that's just my play style.

Also, learn to make good use of blindfire and firing from the hip, especially if you use shotguns. I recommend setting your boosters accordingly.

Well I started playing at my brother's house up to chapter 6 on Hard, started again from the beginning six hours ago back at mine and I've been sitting there for the past 6 hours straight.

So much I want to say but it's like 2am and I have no energy to spoiler tag.

I will say this though, where does Naughty Dog get off making a game so good that everything else is horrid in comparison? Fuck you ND, you ruined gaming for me.

The great thing about the game is that the characters are fleshed out by what they do and what they say and all the little things they do, instead of the usual "you are badass, highly decorated with years in the field, highly intelligent, you went to MIT and have a PhD and an MD, and you're a strong, silent type" bullshit that sets up most videogame leads.

This.

The funny thing about this however is that Kittonwy has just endorsed the console gaming world equivalent of socialism, with the console manufacturer in this case being the government.

It's not a great game's fault for being great when shit games are shit. I'm glad ND made Uncharted 2 and ruin gaming.

Got my copy today after class, can't wait to dig into it tommorow.

Not a fan of the new PS3 box logo. The old sidebar suited the smaller size. But its not a big deal.

That actually happened to me last month. My cousin was visiting me and wanted to buy a pair of shoes so I took him shopping. While he was trying on shoes, I spotted Christophe Balestra, one of ND's co-presidents, standing nearby. I went up and said hi to him. He seemed pretty surprised that I recognized him (although he was wearing an Uncharted 2 shirt at the time).

The goddamned
yetis
are fucking ridiculous.

Naughty Dog fixed almost every other problem from the first game, why couldn't they leave out the
nonhuman enemies
this time? It's seriously obnoxious.
