i'm really not concerned whether this was downgraded or not - the graphics are just plain underwhelming. [although it is quite clearly nowhere near the level of the initial reveal - unsurprisingly]
it does look somewhat "flat" [for lack of a better word], & victim of classic cross-gen-itis - childplease is correct to say so, and has every right to say so.
if you don't agree, that is absolutely fine.
if you would rather people focused on the game's potential gameplay merits, or pitfalls, that is also absolutely fine.
to be honest, i appreciate that gaffers are beginning to police one another in an attempt to diffuse some of the salem-county-witch-hunt graphics bashing going on so far this generation - but let's not fold the paper too far the other way now, mmk?
i, for one, did not see terribly much difference [if any?] between this video & that recently released containing exclusive PS4 footage - but i'm also viewing this content on a 1440p monitor that doesn't have 1:1 pixel input capabilities, so...
all in all, i'm willing to give this game a bit of a break, as i'm well aware of the difficulties of making such an expansive environment visually stimulating [especially this early into a generation, & especially on a cross-generation engine], but other than some decent textures, [thankfully] improved water tessellation, & decent geometry counts [in select / key places] - the game's just not wowing me visually the way i'd like / hope / wish.
but, are graphics everything? not at all.
but, can we blame people for focusing on them during a generational transition? not at all.
