The messenger app has a report for spam option
But sony insist its not against the code of conduct
You can turn off messages from people not on your friend list by going to Settings > PlayStation Network/Account Management > Privacy Settings. My little brother got one of these yesterday, luckily I was there and blocked it before anything weird happened. How can I prevent this?

Ya twice now on PSN one on my main & one on my sub accSo I just received a random "hi xox" message from a random person on PSN. Naturally curious I answered and a semblance of a normal conversation followed. Until it dawned on me that I was talking to a bot.
How did I know it was a bot? The conversation didn't evolve correctly once I showed signs of pushback. Like I said, the conversation started normally, until the bot started mentioning that it does private cam shows. I said I don't like watching camgirls, but the bot just prattles on and even giving me a link (didn't click on it obviously).
I made screens of the conversation so I can prove this really happened, but honestly the last place I would expect to find these kinds of chatbots was on PSN.
UPDATE:
Screenshots of how you can recognize a bot profile, it's real easy!
Screenshots on how a typical bot conversation would go (obviously links have been censored).
Anyone else had this kind of "experience" on PSN, Xbox Live, Steam, etc.?
Hey that's how I met my wife.
My best mate i met on PS2 on V8Supercars/TOCA 2 online we still play to this day lolCool I met my fiancé on PlayStation home way back in 2009.
Yeah, have been receiving this kind of messages for days... Pretty annoying.
I wonder where they're getting the PSN ID's. I was playing on a "test" account some time ago (it's been active for a few months) - 0 friends, 0 groups/followed etc., no PS+, not tracked by psnprofiles or any of that stuff and still got a message from a chatbot.
On my primary account disabling messages from strangers worked really well. I still can add people if they send a friend invitation and avoid spam altogether.
I got a similar message a while back and was pretty sure it was a bot. I asked "what's the link?" and it sent it right away without having to go through the whole speech. Might be an easy way to immediately tell if the person messaging you is real.
It never gets old.God damn this is hilarious
