This is sort of crazy. Thankfully I'm never trying to play when this happens but eventually I will be and I won't be happy.
PSN is a piece of shit.
You can't defend this crap,
It's becoming a weekly thing. Is PSN getting attacked again, or is there something wrong on Sony's side?
How does this keep happening? Xbox Live and Steam never have these sort of issues, at least not this regularly
I seem to be immune to this downtime you all get. Currently racing online in Driveclub fine.

I find it hard to believe it's an attack thing this time, since it went down just as the store was updated with a ton of new content and sales.
Pretty sure it's server load.
Their networks are probably better equipped, but Shuhei also said a while back that PSN is attacked every single day, to varying degrees. Maybe XBL and Steam aren't targeted as much?

Lord help us all come November with Black Ops 3, Battlefront, and an influx of players from Black Friday.
If its sale related i do hope you've seen what happens during Steam Summer Sales and whatnot. #RIPSteamServers
However PSN seems to work fine here. Logged in and could launch games fine in MP.
I moved all my TV apps to X1 last week. Kept trying to watch Silicon Valley on HBO, got denied one time too many.
It's a bad network. It's just bad. It's the summer of PS4 for Arkham Knight and the summer of X1 for TV apps.
Now I'm even thinking of buying a Kinect.

It was down for 10-15 minutes, so you probably missed it.
I don't think the TV apps go through the network at all. They always work the same when PSN is down.

Only 10-15 min, that is all it took for some of these posts in here? And most saying it was just the store, they were still gaming online? Oh man, lol. Keep is "real" gamers.
As someone who uses their xbox for TV, while using the kinect frequently and successfully. Dont, unless you can get one cheap.

Where are y'all located? There was just a sporadic internet outage in my area (Texas). Google and Amazon hosted sites wouldn't load, Dropbox was down, etc.
Seems to be all good now though. Probably 20 minutes?

I had a much better experience back on PS3. So far on PS4 it has been absolutely terrible. I will not be renewing PS+
PSN is a failure on every front. Terrible download speeds, frequent unexpected downtime, consistently down on high load days, terrible customer service, and no protections for customers like refunds or even cancellable pre-orders. It's a goddamn embarrassment and by far the weakest link in Sony's gaming ecosystem.

This holiday is going to be shit for everyone. Halo, COD, Battlefront influx of new console owners and the dreaded Lizard Squad.
Either Sony is getting DDOS'ed constantly or the way they have designed their network is garbage. I have no idea why when the US is having issues it affects my main JP account. Surely they can't possibly be contacting the same datacenter.
Definitely needs more investment. Especially their CDNs, I downloaded batman off steam (30GB) in under an hour. You can forget doing that on PSN.
It's certainly possible for me.
Some of the people in here are also known xbox fans.It does seem to be far too easy for people to cry foul against PSN, when you get angry posts over a 10-15 store downtime.
PSN does need to have less unexpected downtime, but stuff like this is a non-issue.

Hasn't the store always gone down for maintenance to update sales and products?
