Still curious. Is anyone going to the switch midnight release at Gamestop to pick up BotW for Wii U?
Is there a source for the bolded? I assumed I'd be installing the disc to my Wii U's external HDD. Don't know if I have space on the internal storage since I have an 8GB model.
I am. They told me when I pre-ordered it that they'd be doing a midnight release, and they called me yesterday to remind me about it and invite me to it. I'm only getting the Wii U version of BotW when I go, nothing Switch-related.Still curious.
External HDDs work, but USB sticks don't, if my understanding is correctly.
The NoA page states external drives are okay:
http://www.zelda.com/breath-of-the-wild/buy-now
(bottom of page)
But the Japanese page clearly mentions USB sticks don't work (Japanese only obviously):
https://www.nintendo.co.jp/zelda/products.html
Well typically it's not that USB sticks "don't work", they just recommend not using them.
Right, but this clearly says "they cannot be used."
there's some elements I'd have loved to see that just aren't present
Wow, saying no to Persona 5? I can't do it. I will do it on Horizon though, will get when it drops price.
I have been using a stick for the last 2-3 years. Ive never had any problems...
Some things that could be added later via DLC. So I'm still hopeful somewhat. Sorry for being vague haha. What would those be, if you don't mind sharing?
Well time to clear out my internal drive since all I got is USB sticks
After watching some videos on the WiiU version, I just can't. I'm sensitive to framerates and it legitimately bothers me.
I am sorry I cannot be on WiiU along side you all T_T

Same this and the Indy game announcements pushed me over the edge getting a Switch.
lol
Man can 900p really be that much better than 720. Both seem shitty but one to a lesser extent. Some of y'all got me worried.

It's needs 3GB correct? I thought this was going to be a deal breaker because I use USB, but maybe I can find that much space on a basic.
superior Gamecube version
Whoa what did they announce? Fate of Atlantis?
Yeah, so that's the problem I'm facing too.
Even after moving all of my digital games and saves and patches and whatnot onto a USB stick, I'm still left with only 3.2GB on a basic(!)
Hope that's enough...
do we know if there's a preload?
I think people are worried there will be a shortage of Wii U copies of the game if you don't buy it at or near launch. Why are the choices at launch or never? I have a Wii U, but I'm also building a high end PC very soon that will most likely be able to emulate the game hopefully at very high settings.
I'll wait until then to get the Wii U version.
Pretty sure someone said no. Still trying to decide between retail and digital myself. With retail I could play as soon as I get home on Friday (providing I find a copy, but I'm sure Gamestop at least has it) but I dunno if physical games tend to have longer loading times and whatnot on Wii U. With digital, I'd probably have to wait until Friday evening or so.
My Amazon UK order should ship today in time for arrival Friday.

Why are you talking about resolution when he is talking about framerate?lol

Here's a video comparing the final WiiU build side by side with the Switch version in almost perfect synchrony. They look pretty similar to me. (Very beginning and early areas that have already been shown - so nothing "spoilery.")

And here's a link for approximately an hour of gameplay on the WiiU version (again, nothing beyond the plateau).

I think the WiiU version looks great.
