Used to be that she's molded from clay and given life. Lately she's been a demigod, daughter of Hippolyta and Zeus.
The movie incorporates both, with the clay origin being a lie to protect her.

I need some time to reflect a bit more and see it a few more times. But right now, in this moment, it's my favorite superhero movie bar none.
Cringe on.

I can understand why people consider this their favorite movie. A wonderful superhero film. About a superhero that wants to help people. That's actually pretty rare.
Yeah, not sure, it's probably just the editing or something, there were a few scenes that didn't quite flow right to me. Nothing catastrophic though.Yeah. I think the boat was going down, and so was Steve's plane. They saw it get hit and the downward trajectory, and then disappear. They bail out into the lifeboats and keep looking for the wreckage, since they saw it going down.
Dunno. It's an odd sequence. If the warship doesn't sink, then the writers have boxed themselves into a corner since the Germans would just bomb the shit out of the island. So they just sink it. It was either already sinking, or started right when it came through the barrier due to the barrier or the reef or something. I thought it looked like it was going down from the onset on my second viewing, and I can't think of a reason for so many of the crew to be in lifeboats otherwise. That's my guess but I could be totally wrong, just trying to make sense of it.
Why would they change it lol??
I still maintain they didn't. Unless I missed a reveal somewhere.
Hippolyita asked for the child. Zues gave life to a daughter out of clay. Father / Mother.
The comics have one origin story where there's an affair, but there's nothing suggesting that here.

Cringe on.
Oh my god, this tweet brings me such joy.

"My producer just sent me this... ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! This makes every hard day worth it. Thank you to whomever wrote it!!"
Well that is downright fantastic. I can read these stories for hours.I'm reposting this for the new page. Everyone should see this.
Great movie, just one question: why did Steve blow up the plane at the end? Why not just land it?

The gas on the plane was on a timer they couldn't defuse, it would have gone off and killed everyone around where they were had he not flown it.Great movie, just one question: why did Steve blow up the plane at the end? Why not just land it?
Which was actually a pretty clever use of both origin stories.Used to be that she's molded from clay and given life. Lately she's been a demigod, daughter of Hippolyta and Zeus.

Yeah, I liked that touch. Also liked the end when she was taking out Ares she says goobye brother.Which was actually a pretty clever use of both origin stories.

Wait so if the bombs were on a timer, and the plane was headed for London, wouldn't that give Steve enough time to drop the gas in the ocean?
It's her/his opinion...
But I definitely don't agree, Lol. This movie played it safe AF, which isn't a bad thing. But it ultimately (like most Superhero movies) left me pretty bored as the third act approached. Gal Gadot is serviceable as Wonder Woman, I'm sure by the 3rd or 4th film she'll have 10,000 more hrs of acting lessons and will have mastered acting. Chris Pine was funny as Cpt. Kirk. The Villians sucked. And yeah, hope the next film is even better.
Why cringe?Cringe

Yeah, I like that this has an impact. I'm a little confused why people think jump to it being fake though. What do you guys think kindergarden kids do all day?
Why cringe?
volunteered at preschool day cares several times over high school and college and all they DO is talk about movies they've seen and pretend to be the characters. 'Fact, remember us on the playground at 6 years old? We were Anakin Skywalker. We were Spider-Man. We were any one of the hundreds of male heroes onscreen for us to emulate. It's not too much of a stretch at all to think that this ONE movie with a kickass woman in that role for once is having a profound affect on the super-young among us.
Saw it tonight. It was an alright film, my first watch in the DCverse. The best stuff was in the first half.
Loved the goofy moments and interactions between Diana, Steve, the secretary. The fight between the amazons and the Nazis on the beach was great. Lots of good stuff up to and including the bar. I liked the supporting cast as well.
Thought the romance was super unneeded (is this part of the traditional comic origin?). I prefer more fantastical settings and villains so the war setting didn't do much for me. Ares didn't feel like a good twist, wish there had been some more build-up to him. The generic force control he used for half of the fight was lame too.
Just FYI, there were no nazis in this film.
No.
And playing it safe? I can't even. We JUST had three films trying to be different to the norm that Gaf bitched about, and now being just a good film is bad?
Brilliant.
Hah, I volunteered too and one kid could NOT get over being Iron Man. So much palm shenanigans.Veelk, since that thread you made got closed:

In principle, you're right. In practice, the last time Steve took off in a plane it crashed unexpected and prematurely. The same thing could happen again. If the bombs were on a timer, and timer was to give a pre WW2 prop time to get from Belgium to London, he could have ditched it in the North Sea. It's roughly 341km from belgium to London, more than enough to get it beyond the Netherlands.

My only real complaints were about the dialogue. The main characters were fine, the secondary characters though...
The part where Wonder Woman is a girl and she sees the Amazonian women training. The dialogue between the general and her assistant. Only a second the whole thing. It was so poor, it felt like a parody. That was the worst of it and during the rest of the movie it was better. There were still bad moments, just not as bad as the first.
One thing about ares, I knew something was up with killing him ending all war, especially seeing as how World War II had yet to happen in this world. I seriously didn't think they'd up and say "hitler never happened in this world." Kind of a big foreshadow there that I haven't seen mentioned.
