Xbox One X Preorder Thread

Amazon/Xbox pre-orders typically don't charge you until they ship, right?

I feel like there will be some big deals on this thing around the holidays when it inevitably bombs in the UK tho.

It's relative though isn't it? If they only produce X consoles then pre-orders of X+1 means they have sold all they have.

They need to have a surplus of consoles to demand to justify a reduction in price and that might not be there.

There's always holiday deals though - games, controllers or retailers cards etc.

Are all your Xbox saves in the cloud? I'm selling my old Xbox One to a friend but I don't know if I should wait so I can transfer saves over with the hard drive.

All in the cloud. I would certainly transfer all your games over to an external so you want have to redownload them all.

Anyone have any experiences on trading in a console for a new iteration? But specifically when it's a limited one? Do these net more or they simply tell you to suck it up.

If I can get a premium for turning it in, I might consider it.

Such a shame that they aren't releasing it alongside Shadow of War.

Same, feel like I need alerts or something.

I'll go Amazon first but then if I can get somewhere I can pick up on the morning or Midnight I'll switch.

Same, except I think I'll stick with Amazon as their returns is fantastic, I think I went through 3 Xbox One S due to the grinding fan noise, nightmare!

Anyone from Spain that can provide info about todoconsolas.com? They're taking reservations, but I'd like to know if they're any good and when they charge?

Never heard of them. I know that tutiendadevideojuegos.com is cool, Xtralife.es is awesome and GAME as usual.

I'm waiting for Xtralife personally, but will place a preorder in any of the others if and when they open them.

Thanks for the info, I'll check out Xtralife.

Can't you preorder at the internal employee store?

(a friend who used to work at MS used to send me and my friends pics of the Xbox 360 deals back then D: )

The company employee store is often the LAST place to get units after launch, because all stock is directed to retail. You'd be pissed if you thought your hard to find thing had been snatched up by a disinterested Uncle who works in Microsoft Office. Besides we get debug kits so we can play regardless.

We also get discounts proportional to the real retail cost, so back in the day, no discount, nowadays a pretty small one if any, which is often the cost of postage. Bundles and games and controllers etc are cheaper tho. I have more keyboard thingies than anyone has any right to...

Hope the MS store does a trade-in program as they did for the 360 and XBO.

My white Sunset Overdrive model has been collecting dust since FH3 came out.

Okay. What makes it poor? Picture quality?

It's poor, because it's a cheap UHD drive. I don't find any difference in picture quality vs a standalone, and you would find a lot of reviews saying the same.

Something to consider is that the One S may not receive an update to support Dolby Vision. I think if you are in the market now, you should consider a player with it.

For the value, it's a fine player otherwise.

My One S stutters on just about every 4k movie I throw at it which is really, really annoying since it's the real reason I upgraded to a One S. Hoping the One X has a better drive since I don't want a standalone player.

If the OT for this thing isn't Xbox One X |OT| X Gonna Give It To Ya I will burn this place to the ground
Amazing first post, as usual.

Sounds faulty to me. You should get it replaced if it's in warranty.

I've had absolutely no issue playing UHD disks.

Do they do trade in also?

Nope. That's why I made sure I can cancel it whenever I want because two stores here Game Mania and Nedgame possibly will have trade ins.

I went to these stores yesterday and they told me if I were to trade in my Xbox One now I would get 125 euros for it and I have the fat 500gb Xbox One. But there was no telling how much I would get for it closer to release date of the X.

I'm in the US but that's my strategy as well. No harm in pre-ordering from Amazon, but I'd like to get in a Gamestop pre-order. Hoping I can trade my 1TB One S for $200 towards it.

Is this a widespread issue? I've never had this occur, or at least I haven't noticed it.

I'm hoping to see a higher price point version of the Xbox One X that includes an Elite controller, bigger HDD, or Vertical stand. Maybe we'll see something that's limited edition at launch.

MS marketing guy mentioned that they'd be announcing special editions when pre orders go up officially.

Maybe we'll see an elite controller day one edition.

And about pre-orders? We know the FCC thing of course, but here is Albert Penello's take on things:

https://embed.radio.com/clip/620473...io/gamertag-radio/&rollup_ga_id=UA-2438645-53

We are a long way away from launch. So I think we wanted to have a really strong E3 around talking about the product and talking about the games We are going to do pre-orders closer to launch, I think we are going to have some fun stuff to talk about with pre-orders that we haven’t talked about now.

Make of that what you will. Low expectations? 3 months game pass trial. High expectations? Some kind of Microsoft owned/sponsored non rip off trade up programme.

Creating the PC equivalent of the $500 Xbox One X is trickier than you might guess - PC World

"Final thoughts

For the moment, Microsoft’s created a machine that the DIY PC crowd can’t currently match—not when you try to copy both feature set and the cost at the same time, at least. That might be a first, given how often PC gamers tout the benefits that console fans miss out on."

Interesting, but why are you bumping the pre-order thread getting my hopes up?!?!

Just spoke to the Dutch MS Store and they didn't have any info and had contacted the US branch multiple times but nothing new yet. He expected somewhere in July, so I guess its a waiting game still. No info on different bundles either, though he expects plenty of stock so I wouldn't worry about a sell-out. (especially not in EU hehe)

That's actually a cool article. Deserves it's own thread.

"However, it’s more expensive than an Xbox One X by $152 (or more, if you’re bad about filing mail-in rebates). It lacks support for 4K UHD Blu-Ray discs. It uses a GPU that’s extremely difficult to find right now, so currently you’d have to pay more for a used RX 580 or buy a graphics card with less memory (Nvidia’s 6GB GTX 1060 instead of a 8GB Radeon RX 580). It doesn’t have built-in Wi-Fi support. And it’s not nearly as compact or small."

Dat thread bump... got me all excited.

Waiting on some Amazon vouchers for my birthday to go towards this, as long as the preorders go up after the 27th I'm happy!

(pretty sure Amazon don't allow you to change payment option after preordering or you end up at the back of the queue again)

I hope for some official trade in program. That would be great and that for sure will make more people switch over to X.

Still nothing huh? Really hoping we get them today! I don't know if this will actually sell out, but I want my pre-order in just in case.

Judging from the past, how much do you think retailers will offer for the S? Curious.

I'm thinking we'll see places like Gamestop offer upwards of $200 depending on the memory size. For stuff like this they'll usually offer some kind of "get an extra $50 when you trade towards Xbox One X" program. It's just a matter of when they'll actually do it.

I pre-ordered my Switch the day they were available but IIRC Gamestop didn't offer promotional trades until a week later. If you're pre-ordering at a store like that, the best advice I can give is to just put down the minimum for the pre-order. That still qualifies you for the promotional values.
