Can someone explain #2 in more detail? What bubbles are disappearing and how? What's happening there?

The 'Damage/Armor' upgrade bubbles are disappearing. The new HoW stuff we've seen don't have those bubbles, and have the damage/armor maxed out.

Has there been any update to skill trees or an increase in point allocation?

Nope, not yet. But if the roadmap leaked earlier rings true, then the 'Comet' expansion will have an increase to level 30...now whether they add more skills or not is yet to be seen.

The 5 upgrade Attack/Defense bubbles aren't there on HoW weapons and armor. The perks it has, such as Special Weapon Loader or Headseeker, are the only things you have to get EXP in. The only thing similar to the old upgrade bubbles is Ascend, which will take them from 331 to 365 for a very low cost in comparison to the 32 Weapon Parts/Class Mats, 80 Planet Mats, 18 Ascendant Mats cost of the original bubbles.

The new HoW weapons and armor were shown to come at 36 Light (Armor) or 331 Attack (weapons). Instead of having multiple attack/defense bubbles to reach 42 Light / 365 Attack, they only have "perk" bubbles (more ammo, speed reload, firefly etc) and an Ascend node.

This Ascend node is purchased with Etheric Light. Using Etheric Light to purchase the Ascend bubble will automatically take an armor piece to 42 Light or a weapon to 365 attack.

PoE gear doesn't have an Ascend bubble. They come at 42/365 right off the bat and only require the perks being leveled.
 
But it did. I reached level 32 with 3 characters in one week (2 Crota's End with each character). In the VOG, it took me almost 2 months to reach level 30 with one character. I say this was a major improvement.

You probably got the gear in one week but the materials to level that gear took longer. There is no way you got enough shards to level 3 characters to 32 in one week. Even if you converted energy to shards you would have to be Eris rank 4 to do that and that would certainly take more than a week

Assuming one Exotic at +36, maxing 3 Raid pieces would require 63 Radiant Shards per character. Even by deleting characters to power level and run again, I sincerely doubt it was possible in a week for 3 characters. Even one would be a stretch.

With HoW, reaching level 34 should take maybe two weeks? You'll need at least one Ascended Exotic armor and three Etheric Lights for the remaining armor pieces, whether they be new vendor ones or current Raid sets. I'm assuming Etheric will be a rare drop so it might take a week or two to bring your characters up.

Still sounds way way faster and less annoying than that horrible Radiant grind. I am at once glad the game is changing and annoyed it was this grindy so far to be honest :p

It was a typo. I wanted to say "month" (well, less than a month). Sorry for the confusion.

In any case, the drop rate in Crota's End was much better than the drop rate in Vault of Glass. I was stuck at level 29 for almost two months and using two titans because of some raid boots.
 
Stupid line of sights and you have two of the three capture points inside annoying choke point rooms.

I like the map for using a good scope on my scout rifle back when I last played it but most of the action happens at point B with shotguns and rockets, loads of wasted space around the sides.

yea that's the problem with destiny when it comes to its vehicle maps. there'd have been a lot more action to the sides if there weren't so many snipers and a reason to hop in the vehicles. i've seen it happen in the games i've played and i've enjoyed them, but when it turns into a snipe/shotgun camp fest, it just reminds me of all the wasted potential.

here's to hoping HoW's vehicle map gets it right.

I think for armor/weapons that came from The Dark Below/Vanilla Destiny you'll still have to upgrade the armor/attack values. Not too sure yet. Only the HoW stuff we've seen is missing the armor/damage bubbles.

It looks that way. I don't think footage showing a partial CE weapon being Ascended was showed. It might be that original and CE gear MIGHT need to be maxed out before you can ascend them.
If I was to guess I would say play it safe and unlock the nodes in the weapon now but don't apply any shards and mats to it until the HoW drops. Then see if what I just said is true, unless someone can confirm now or later after we get more info from Bungie.

One thing I've not heard anything about is the Clan system. Has this been addressed?

Clans were useless apart from a couple of Trophies from what I remember. Have Bungie hinted on fixing this? Maybe inputting something of similarity to Warframes "Clan Dojo"?

We might find something out during the next community live-stream as it is PVP focused, but nothing has been mentioned thus far (and neither for PVE related topics for clans).
 
I have an unused commendation in my inventory. What's gonna happen to it if I don't use it?

It'll turn into reputation come HoW. 250 Reputation at that(Unknown if Nightfall exp bonus affects it). So it's great for people who've kept the grind up for reputation and have stockpiled alot of marks.

Doubt this will be fixed until Destiny 2, last gen holding us back

Yup, do high level activites(Rumor has it that Raids will drop etheric lights, as well as Nightfalls/possibly rare drop from PvP), and you can upgrade your Vanilla gear to the max light level. So even if you got vanguard gear from Destiny, you can upgrade that to level 34 and start doing those high end activities.

They actually precisely said where lights drop.

Not in Raids unfortunately.

  • Send It upgrade (which was redundant) replaced by Speed Reload
Red Death​
  • Rate of Fire increased slightly, but Burst Damage reduced to compensate
Plan C​
  • Weapon Handling speed increased
  • Player Speed increased while Plan C is in hand
Pocket Infinity​
  • Speed Reload upgrade replaced by Extended Clip which allows the option to increase magazine size (5 bursts)
Vex Mythoclast​
  • Attack Power increased to 323 (from 300)
  • Base Damage increased, fixing bug we introduced in previous patch
  • Enhanced Battery upgrade by Extended Mag (this change still allows for a significant upgrade to Magazine Size, but less than before)
Invective​
  • Reload Speed increased significantly, auto fires slightly slower
Ice Breaker​
  • Send It upgrade replaced by Lightweight (which was redundant as Icebreaker already had maximum range)
  • New effects for enemies killed by Ice Breaker upgrade
Patience and Time​
  • Snapshot upgrade replaced by Custom Optics (provides a lower zoom option)

Raid​
  • Fixed an issue we introduced in a previous patch, in which Atheon did not correctly send 3 players through the time gates

  • Destination Materials now drop from completing the Daily Heroic
Bounties​
  • Removed the ‘Relic Hunter’ Bounty
  • Destination Materials now drop from completing the Daily Patrol Bounty

Vendors
  • Reduced Cryptarch reputation gain from Engrams, but reputation reward packages now have an increased chance for Legendary Engrams
  • Players will now be able to use Vanguard Marks and Crucible Marks to purchase Spinmetal, Relic Iron, Spirit Bloom, and Helium Filaments from the Vanguard and Crucible Quartermasters in the Tower
  • Xur now sells a new material, Exotic Shards, to upgrade the final node of Exotics for 7 Strange Coins
  • Faction Class Items (ex: FWC Cloak, Dead Orbit Mark, etc.) are now replaced by Faction Emblems in the rank-up reward packages from Faction Vendors

Technical
  • Networking fixes, which should reduce the instance of the Bee family of KTOs
  • Fixed an issue in which using Xbox One party chat induced a slower frame rate
 
How can they expect you to play only on one map all the time?

wouldn't be surprising with the way the playlist rotations are set up.

but of they're going to be streaming live trials matches later today, they'll probably be playing it on the new maps.

burning shrine is one of the last maps that ought to be in a competitive playlist. i hope the new maps have some strong sightlines and power positions and ease up on the endless corners and hallway.

"Let me try to set expectations for the stream tomorrow. I don't want for tripleWRECK to be put in a bad spot here - or any member of our community for that matter (winks at Goth).

This show will be less inquisition and more competitive event. Our aim is to showcase the special breed of action and suspense that Trials of Osiris delivers. TripleWRECK is on hand to kick some ass, like he does. He'll be seated next to his teammates, and the only question he should be asking is "Do you have my back?"

That said, I will personally address the issues specific to Trials when we talk to Derek Carroll between matches. Our goal is to introduce you to this new activity and let you know how it will change your game. Should be fun."

I can tell you they are very much aware of the multitude of complaints and frustrations we have.
