The Squids will not change back to Kids anytime soon. Wonder if Wii U will go back to sub 10K for this week post Obon. Can the Squids hold it at bay, or will the Kraken sink it back down into the abyss?

Oh, and PS4 is shattering expectations! :p

Oh, interesting! Never heard of the Silver Week before. Have to admit, they sure have a lot of holidays in Japan. Then again, I believe companies give way less vacations compared to Western companies (might be saying crap though, unlike that infamous GAF member, I am NOT an expert ;)).

Any impact on sales for that Silver Week (other than the usual slight boost for regular holidays)?

If it can sell ~15.000 - 20.000/week on average until the end of the year, then (including digital) it's there. Certainly not impossible.

Not sure if posted already, but new New Nintendo 3DS bundle coming out next month in Japan. Comes with new cover plates, also sold separately. AC Adapter included.

Also... Amazon will be at the TGS this year? Seems random, but I guess it's for their mobile games.

Do we know if Famitsu will count Bloodborne vouchers (w/PS4 purchase) as digital downloads? I suppose they are codes that once redeemed they allow the user to buy the same digital version SKU on the store just at 0Y price. Should appear in the next set of digital estimates if so, right?

Talking about MHX, looks like the first batch of pre-orders is quite small if that blogger is to be believed and/or I didn't read that wrong.

Of course, there'll be many more in the upcoming weeks, but still interesting. Pre-orders off to a good start it seems.

Colourful Star's faceplate is pretty good. Pattern designs has always been superior and doesn't look tacky as shit.

Then simply post raw data without a comparison?

For MHX, you say? Usually, I follow a specific rule, i.e. starting posting stats / comparisons about games in their final month, since that's when specific trends become clearer. Since there seems to be interest about MHX Comgnet's datas, though, I could make an exception.

Famitsu Digital Sales PlayStation Store July 2015 (Jun 22 - Jul 26)

no bloodborne
Well, that's a shame, guess we can only put a max ceiling of ~93.5k vouchers given away till last week since its introduction in July 16 (not for the entire week though). Also I can't seem to find if its every single sale or just in participating retailers but with most of the big ones being included anyway. Thanks hiska.

EDIT: Yeah, participating retailers:

Splatoon = Surprise of this gen.

Honestly I expected it to do good. Never thought it would sell as low as W101, because the trailers of splatoon had been far more appealing than platinums game with its boring art style.

After played Splatoon for the first time it was clear that this game will sell good. It is addicting and fresh and easy to get into. But this sales are stunning and unexpected nonetheless.

For MHX, you say? Usually, I follow a specific rule, i.e. starting posting stats / comparisons about games in their final month, since that's when specific trends become clearer. Since there seems to be interest about MHX Comgnet's datas, though, I could make an exception.

I understand the "rule" for comparison, but I think you can post regular pre-order points for major releases... not going to ask you to post everything, ha ha. That'd be nice to have some data from time to time :)

So unless sales drop sharply after Obon, Splatoon should overcome Mario Kart 8 before the bundle for MK8 (came out on November 13th, 2014).

For the holidays, MK8 was bundled, so I'm not sure if Splatoon will manage to outsell it. Really looking forward to see how it unfolds.

Port Splatoon DX, Mario Kart 8 DX, and Super Smash Bros. DX. Right??

Wiiii. Man, late reply here but also a huge question i had been keep having here that i wanted to ask most MC folks here.^_^

What do u guys think if Nintendo actually released certain of their Wii U title like Mario Kart, Smash Bros, and Splatoon for NX but only updated them like with extra content rather than total overhaul and actually uses those devs to develop new IP likes Splatoon which had heavy focus on online interactivity? Would it allow NX to do better? Or it will be as bad as Wii U?

As we have kinda see that Nintendo simply could not survive only with their own classic properties. They need new things like Splatoon to energize and attract their fans.

I myself believe that it will be a high risk move from Nintendo but can be a very great move if it is done as well as Splatoon here considering how Nintendo had that huge stigma where they only care for Mario and Zelda.

I am really interested to see how Super Mario Maker will sell in Japan, not to mention worldwide. If it can sell like Splatoon has and Nintendo release console bundles for both games, the console may actually have a chance at a solid holiday period like it had in 2013. 2016 is going to be painful even with Zelda though so this holiday period really will be the systems last hurrah in Japan.

The PS4 is gradually increasing its base but it's far from dominating like It does in the rest of the world. Still it looks like it will continue to build on it's momentum and with MGSV around the corner, should pass 1 million systems sold for year, but by how much still remains to be seen. Sony must have a strong 2016 and really capitalise on the declining sales of the 3DS and Wii U! If Nintendo actually somehow released their next console next year, it would not only become a direct competitor to the PS4 but likely arrive before the PS4 even catches the Wii U's total sales!

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
I think it all depends on how far along the games are and what the BC situation looks like. For NX to do well they probably want to have theit biggest IPs playable on the system in the first 18-24 months.

I can see a new Mario Kart being ready in that time frame, so a port might not be likely. No way we will get a new Smash anytime soon - so them porting a complete Smash Edition to NX seems more likely. I think Mario Maker and Splatoon getting NX versions during the launch window is also very likely. Especially for Mario Maker.

That's a good question. Well, porting Wii U games that quickly, maybe not. What Nintendo doesn't need to do, is to send a message like that. I would opt for sequels, and ports or remakes few months after, but not on first day.

Splatoon 2, maybe a Bayonetta 3, and that stuff. Months later would arrive Mario Kart 8 port with that extras you said and so on.

It'd be a great way for Nintendo to recoup more revenue from these games that are sales capped by the low Wii U userbase. Even better if these games are cross-play with the Wii U versions to increase online playerbase.

I think this should only be done for the big online games though, so MK8, Smash, Splatoon and Mario Maker. Maybe Xenoblade X too if Nintendo wants to keep pushing that IP. Other U games like Bayo 2, Hyrule Warriors, NSMBU, 3D World, Pikmin 3, DKCR2 and so on would be better served with sequels. Zelda is obviously being saved for a TP style multiplatform launch though so that's off the hook.

I think that sales wil decline a bit more this year than last during Xmas. But that depends on if sales for this year nearly hold up to last year. I could be wrong though

There are roughly 20 weeks left for this year and 40+ weeks until "next summer". For 3DS to reach 20 million by next summer, it means ZERO holiday boost is expected in late Nov and Dec since 3DS is selling more than 25K+ a week. Also, 3DS sold about 700K last Dec. Even if it declines by 50%, it would still make it 350K in Dec which would put 3DS not too far from 20 million.

Letting people know that Nintendo's Market cap is up 120% from the same time frame last year, due to expansion of the company(amiibos, rides, mobile), surprise hits(splatoon), and profits(nintendo making dat dough).

didn't think it was thread worthy so i decided to post here

edit of course the stock market likes to f with me right now, it goes up and down lol im just gonna say over 100% to be safe lol

[PSV] Reine des Fleurs - 90% but almost every sale was a pre-order

Just realised total sales were up week on week despite the lack of new releases. Still lower than last year, but not too shabby... that's Obon week for ya, I guess :)

What are the expectation for Dragon Quest VIII selling like? Close to DQ VII would be nice I think considering it is not a remake like that was.

Looks like it will open lower than DQ7, but on par for a remake.

It will do less than the recent remakes I think (1.2 - 1.4m). The biggest deterrent is probably the fact that a recent (cheaper) mobile version exists. That has to take some sale sway from the 3DS version.

i think the mc/famitsu hardware difference are overblown, the hardware numbers this generation are far lower than previous generations thats why any difference are more pronounced, as a 5k difference this gen seems alot yet it is negligible in previous generations.
