If it would have at least some kind of plot, but I also dislike mangas like yotsuba etc.

I even prefer Punpun and I dislike Punpun.

Come Spring 1-49.5 (manhwa) (END)
Tsk. If this had been more competently handled, it could've been a very touching story about a jaded schoolboy and a mysterious girl affixed to his dead mother's 'grave'. As it was, it was deathly dull in places, and I ended up skimming significant parts of it. The endgame twist was rather brilliant, but it would've had a much greater impact if everything before it had been on the same level.

Pot, kettle, fucking black.

Seriously, what the hell?! BB's demise was expected, but you can't freakin' turn childhood friend into cat food just like that. The princess and her kitty just upped their assholery factor by 1000. What happened to the good ol' days of ping pong and casual molestation?

Well yotsuba is sweet but well, I have a daughter myself I don't need to read the stuff a little girl does, it is just I'm not interested to read it further.

Punpun is just annoying, I can't believe any tennager is as dumb as this guy, Aknu no hana is a fantastic manga about a loser protag.
Punpun just tries too hard and we see a kid going fully mental eventhough his life wasn't THAT bad

I...

I disagree with everything you just said. Well, except the part about your daughter, since I adore my little nephews.

Green Blood END

Luke suddenly turning Rambo was kinda weird but I liked that he didn't draw it out any longer. Perfect length basically. And the art was so amazing from beginning to end.

Slam Dunk (Vol. 25-31;End)
Epic, relationship developing high five!

I actually didn't want it to end. I could have read Slam Dunk for twice the length to see where all their lives end up. I think there was still much development to be had, and the ending seemed pretty sudden to me. The last game was also really dragged out. Minor complaints from an overall enjoyable experience.

This is the first long-running sports manga that I've finished!
Now I can get back to Eyeshield!

Hellstar Remina 1-6 (END)

Life's Lessons #3031 - If you're going to name a newly discovered star after your daughter, do make reasonable checks to ensure that the star isn't a malevolent cosmic entity intent on consuming the planet you inhabit.

I've only read a couple of Junji Ito's works, but this was the most enjoyable so far. The first few chapters were basically an exercise in making an innocent young girl suffer as much as possible, meaning I found them hugely enjoyable. Unfortunately, in the second half the absurdity went beyond my tolerance levels and my interest plummeted like a space shuttle entering a planet's atmosphere. Still had fun with it overall, but it didn't live up to my initial expectations.

Urahara showing up with the pills is word for word the definition you just quoted. Are you illiterate?

Urahara was already working on a solution in HM, and that was clearly stated. How can an explained solution to a problem, and coming up with the a temporary solution be a deus ex machina? Urahara is a known character that invents all kind of stuff. Urahara has analysed Yammy´s bala and negated in seconds. Urahara has a precedent for inventing stuff all the time. Yeah, the timing is very convenient, but that does not mean that Urahara has no history of showing up at last moment with the solution to problems. Plot device =/= deus ex machina.

I do not agree, which is the foundation of where we differ here. The shinigami, in an astonishing display of ignorance and short-sightedness, all unleashed their bankai at the same time, knowing full well that the enemy had some method of suppressing them. "We'll only find out by using them, der!" And then they were gone. It was a huge tactical error, and they were soundly thrashed because of it.

How do they redeem themselves for this blunder? They perfect other skills, thinking they can compensate. The other skills are not good enough, and they are defeated anyway. Their best effort simply was not good enough. They have earned defeat, fair and square.

Then Urahara shows up, undoes their initial blunder for them, and now they get to fight at full power again. Great work, Shinigami, you have learned nothing, because you were bailed out by Urahara at the last second. Your seemingly unsolvable problem was suddenly and abruptly resolved by the contrived an unexpected intervention of some new event, character, ability, or object.
That´s a different argument all together, and i agree with a lot of what you said, but that does not mean the shinigami should again to regain their bankai. They already did that the first time.

The Gamer 5
I think this needs more a bit more action. Discovering about the world is starting to get boring
Pupa
I didn't find this particularly scary. It's just gory and sad. However, the themes of betrayal and unity are interesting and the plot is still mysterious but interesting

The last game was crazy brah.
But I guess if it wasn't the last game, Inoue probably wouldn't have let it go on for so long. I'm still bummed about SD's ending that I have yet to properly pick up Real. That and the irregular schedule.

Beelzebub
Still pretty good and Hilda's back.

I've read all of Ito's stuff, and I think you have much more to look forward to. I recommend Frankenstein and Lovesick Dead.

The best part about Remina was the short story at the end.

Well...
there's a person with Frohze's face and the tomb was shown moving in the last panel so chances are she revived in some form

I love how in Toriko's world everything is about food. Literally everything, even religion.

That´s a different argument all together, and i agree with a lot of what you said, but that does not mean the shinigami should again to regain their bankai. They already did that the first time.

I'm going to guess you meant something like "that does not mean the shinigami should have to [do something] to regain their bankai." Let's focus on this, since it's the thrust behind why I think Urahara is kinda deus.

I think the Shinigami should absolutely have to earn their bankai back, since it's their own dumb faults they lost them. You've said a couple times now that since the Shinigami at one point already earned their Bankai, namely when they originally produced it, they shouldn't have to do so ever again. That doesn't really stand to reason with me, since they threw them away so irresponsibly. One negates the other. If it was really just Yhwach showing up, pressing a button, then all bankais were stolen, we might have a different situation here. It was an external third party that would've stolen them with no fault of the Shinigami, so an external third party (Urahara) showing up to restore them with no involvement of the Shinigami would've worked okay. Kind of a private behind-the-scenes battle between Yhwach and Urahara. I still think it woulda been more interesting for the Shinigami to have to work it out during their battles somehow, deduce the mechanic and overcome it, but at least I wouldn't have felt totally cheated.

But that's not what happened. The Shinigami got themselves into that mess (not counting Sasakibe, who literally spent his dying breath to warn them and prevent this kind of thing from happening), and it makes for a much better story if they get themselves out of it. As-is, Sasakibe's effort was for nothing, and the Shinigami who threw their Bankais away all got healed up and given them back for free. No lessons learned, because their actions didn't have personal consequences.

So in this context, I think Urahara is a Deus ex machina because, despite a hint here and there that he was working on the problem, his appearance was during the climax, and his solution required no Shinigami involvement. He literally flipped a switch. Brought pills, teleported them. Shinigami just had to touch them. Now, if he had showed up with a strategy instead, communicated to the Shinigami that the stealing mechanism had a weakness, and then each Shinigami had to find a way in his own battle to exploit that weakness, overcome the Quincy, and retrieve their bankai themselves, then Urahara would've just been a useful nudge, not a cure-all panacea. They would have earned their bankais back, and Urahara would've been a co-conspirator, not a walking talking "problem erased."

Bad ? Yes, bad enough to justify going mental and then being obsessed with killing his childhood friend? NOPE.

I have friends with what I consider a way worse past, but they are totally fine now.

Punoun is a sore loser who never can get his life right because he is super stupid.

The reason Urahara's appearance is a deus ex is because there wasn't a reason to believe he had come up with a solution to the problem, much less invented it in pill form. The mere statement "I'm working on it" doesn't make it better anymore than a guy praying to Zeus to strike down his opponent with lightning bolt in the first act makes Zeus actually doing so less of a DEM.

It's not the captains who haven't "earned it," it's Urahara who didn't earn anything. He just figured out the solution to everyone's problem offscreen.

It seems like I can finally write stuff...

Hi everybody, I'm making my first post here because I read more manga than I play games, so I guess you'll have to put up with me the most. You won't see me here when the talk are Jump's big three because I'm reading them as I buy them and I don't care that much for them either way (I only continue to waste money on them because I have 60/50 volumes already), but except for that I guess I'll be always reading.

First of all, while lurking you I found out about Swagamoto, so I thank you with this:

(If I'm breaking any rule, regarding strict safe-for-work policies or such, just let me know)

This week I mainly read all the translated chapters of Daiya no A (that amount to 15 volumes out of 37 ongoing...) in preparation for the anime series.
I also read the first 24 chapter of Aozora Yell and I'm *really* glad that it was last translated 236 days ago (there are 13 ongoing volumes for this one too...). I don't even know why I bothered starting it (good read, though)

Nana to Kaoru 93-100

Or My BDSM manga can't possibly be this heartwarming and funny

iyVKWfO.jpg

I'm grinning ear-to-ear, I can't believe the author made several chapters dedicated to finding a side-character's specific old video of shemale-on-male porn.

Also, in chapter 100, it looks like Nana finally found out how much trouble Kaoru goes through to make sure the BDSM gear they use is at the best condition it can be. He treats that leather like a pro and doesn't let her know because it would ruin the "cold sadistic master" illusion he has kept.

Though then again, Nana is probably just playing along at this point, since she's heard how many times Kaoru has covered her ass (literally and figuratively) and made himself look like an absolute creep to their classmates in the process.

Even the fights can be good if they're humorous like in this chapter. Also, the demon's have basically become stands now :p
