Wow, great number for PS2. Thought it was only 90,000. This is even higher.
And games like DQVIII, GT4, and ToR are not even out yet. Crazy.
 
Meh, as soon as I saw those DOA sales I knew something like this was coming, especially with the GC performing so piss-poorly in Japan lately.

Come back in a week and all will be well.

And I wonder why Sony still is sticking with Arc the Lad...it's not a bad series, but the sales are low. They should at least let it rest for a while.
Not too hard to figure out why Xbox numbers are up, but what about those crazy PS2 numbers? Is it because the new model is out?
 
While this will probably NEVER happen again, I think the fact that it occurred at all ought to be a wake-up sign to Nintendo. I mean, really.

Probably that, and the new sony ad that features PStwo prominently next to games like GT4/DQVIII/TOR.

Nope. Although DOAXBV sold 90,000+ the GC sold 9,300 and Xbox sold 6,700 that week. This week's Xbox numbers are undoubtedly thanks to the limited Kasumi-chan Xbox bundle rather than DOA Ultimate.
 
Its a fluke. Nothing but statistical noise.

I know it's a "fluke" and that Nintendo has absolutely nothing to worry about regarding Microsoft in Japan.

But that's not the point. I think the fact that Xbox was EVER -- barring only the launch of the Xbox -- able to outsell GameCube in Japan should be disturbing. It's not a testament to how improved Microsoft has done in Japan, but it is a result of Nintendo's constant general fucking-up.
 
That's incredible, I wonder what the advertising was like, I wonder if there'll be 31,000 Halo 2 units sold :lol

edit: assumed Halo 2 caused the stir, forgot about DOAU
 
The PStwo sales should be interesting for the rest of the year. This is what their lineup is looking like:

Well to be fair then, this interesting occasion was more brought about by GC's abysmal performance than xbox really gaining any steam. I mean even with the Kasumi xbox, it still sold less systems than when DoAXBV came out.

Do you think all four of those games can co-exist and sell as well as their predecessors?
 
Sales of the new model PS2 are fabulous, unless the older model managed to make a dent too. I don't think GBASP even reached those levels.

Didn't Halo 2 come out this week over there as well? Perhaps the hardcore crowd picked up some xboxen for it....
