The title was developed by long-standing Playstation coding house Naughty Dog, of Crash Bandicoot fame. ‘Uncharted 2’ is the sequel to 2007’s ‘Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune’ on PS3 which peaked at No22 on the All Formats Top 40 and got to No1 on the PS3 chart in its second week of release (week 50, 2007). Codemasters’ ‘Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising’ drops from No3 to No2 (-51%) and Nintendo’s ‘Wii Sports Resort’ climbs one place to No4 (+17%). The three other new releases this week are: at No5 Sega’s ‘Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games’ (Wii/DS), at No7 EA’s ‘Brütal Legend’ (360/PS3) and at No10 Bethesda’s ‘Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition’, which includes all 5 download packs (PS3/360/PC). The first 4 download packs were released this year at retail on 360 and PC, but not on PS3, which helps explain why the PS3 version is the lead format with 56% of sales.

Great debut for Mario and Sonic, considering the Olympics are 4 months away and the title will clean up at Christmas just like the summer games edition did.
 
Nom nom Uncharted, deserved sucess, assume it'll do as well here (Ire).
Not too bad for Brutal Legend, shall pick it up when I'm not so busy with projects.

I wouldn't call that a great debut. The first one sold more than a million copies in the UK. I would expect it to be number one. But I agree that this title will show legs but I have my doubts that it will surpass the first one.
 
Whats with the split between Brutal Legend? Was there a good deal on the 360, or is it just an effect of Uncharted?
 
Finally success for Uncharted franchise. It more than deserves it.

Also 1 Year on and LittleBigPlanet still selling and entering the charts sporadically. I'd love to find out it's current lifetime sales.
 
Excellent result for Uncharted 2. I've been unable to put it down all weekend, glad lots of others are having fun. I hope it has legs as it really is something special.

I don't know if this would affect a game with the Mario & Sonic name, but while comparing sales of the two games in the UK I would assume a winter sports game automatically does a little worse than a summer sports game? The UK aren't known for being big winter sports nations after all. Just a guess from a foreigner though, I don't know how these games have been doing historically.
 
I'm actually surprised at Peppa Pig :lol

It dangled for weeks at the bottom of the charts and it's now going up and up...

Do you remember how long it took to get there? People need to not act like Mario and Sonic Summer blasted onto the charts with 1m upfront. It was a long haul of constant sales and advertising

I did not expect it to be #1, the winter games by definition are not as popular (the ratings for the last few Winter games universally are down) and its a title aimed at a specific selling period "Christmas 2009"

I doubt it will match the first one, and nobody should expect it to.
 
So, FIFA10 first week was somewhere between 678k and 734k. Considering it dropped 64% and 54%, this past week it was in the 113k to 122k range. Assuming the PS3:360 split has remained the same (46:48) and knowing Uncharted 2 sold more than the 360 version but less than all FIFA10 versions combined, the Sony franchise opened somewhere between 55k and 122k.

The best I could do. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

All formats is where they combine the sales of multi plat games, bit for Individual formats, Uncharted 2 is number one as it outsold Fifa 10 separately but not combined.

fifa is top on the collective formats chart. on the separate formats uncharted is king.

U2 > fifa 360 > fifa PS3


also IIRC it's only 2 days of sales fo Uncharted 2 and Brütal Legend in Uk

This is true of all releases in the UK. With a few exceptions (mainly on Wii / DS), games still sell significantly less in the second (first full) week of reporting. It's possible that very positive word of mouth among new PS3 owners will keep Uncharted 2 propped up for another week (I'm buying my copy this week, so that's at least 1 sale) but I'd expect sales of Brutal Legend to fall.
 
Really pleased to see U2 No.1 I hoped it would happen but thought it would have been a tall order regardless. Great result.

Bit disappointing to see some websites going with a "Fifa beats Uncharted to Top Spot" type headline when individually (which they should be counting in this day and age) U2 beat Fifa.
 
So the 2007 "Uncharted, plz stay on the chartzzz" mania is back.

IIRC Uncharted 1 wasn't exactly met with a great response in the UK on launch so im not sure using a previous entry in a game series is a good way to judge how popular it will be.

Forza 2 sold over 3 million copies last i heard, that's more than Uncharted.

PS: Uncharted 1 sold 2.6M as of July 09. (source: http://uk.gamespot.com/psp/driving/granturismo/news.html?sid=6210509)

So not too far off Forza 3. ;)

Forza 2 sold more copies than Uncharted, F2 is a platinum title while Uncharted is Gold
 
You've come a long way from that #22 spot, Uncharted.

I love games like this that defy conventional sales-age wisdom. HD games aren't always 'frontload or bust' and new IPs that are quality do deserve sequels even if they weren't chart toppers the first go-round.

forza 3 will be #1, although maybe #2 in the combined chart depending on fifa 10 or if theres another big multi game out? havent looked

uc2 down, but not by much, maybe #4, depending how well the adverts are working

Uncharted was also bundled with the 160GB PS3, and in Europe they were giving 2 of the platinum hits games with a console (of which Uncharted was a choice).
