Wow Goldeneye did much better than I was expecting. Great game, buy it if you haven't yet. Best single player campaign and it was the game where I learned how to use wii mote controls. 3DS is doing great. If Goldeneye can sell in Japan then why can't Xenoblade sell in America?

GoldenEye for N64 (Famitsu)

What is the next *big* 3DS-title?

Star Fox, I suppose. But that franchise isn't as big as Zelda, or anything. The actual big titles are the likes of Mario Kart, and stuff.

I think Starfox could surprise people. I know it is not a big franchise in Japan but I actually think it is a game that is very well suited for handhelds.

Much better Goldeneye debut than I would have expected. Tales of the Abyss remake a little lower than I expected as well. Also, PS3 hardware bump this week? What caused that?

Read that there may have been a new Torne bundle released this week for PS3. Having a hard time finding anything to corroborate that other than a forum post though.

Does SEGA have any current franchises notable to Japan outside of Yakuza?
Project Diva, Phantasy Star (on PSP), to a lesser extent Puyo Puyo, J-League, Shining, Valkyria, K-on (supposing they'll do more after last year game).

Better than SCEJ and Microsoft, qualifies for entering the hardware business again :P

320GB with Torne (CEJH-10017)
35,980円 (June 30th)

Plus maybe new CECH-3000B entering shops, retailers clearing older SKUs, people deliberately going for older systems before they are gone or SCEJ promoting the new Torne bundle.

There is definitely a major software update for Torne due today, maybe there was a marketing push for it?

Cool, Goldeneye!

Tales of the Abyss is interesting. I played the PS2 one. I'm not sure if I want to double dip but if it's coming out later this year, I might bite just because there's nothing else on the 3DS.

(Kind of regret buying a 3DS but guess I have to make the best of it.)

Looks like 3DS's Tales port released a few months after launch starts up very similarly to PSP's Tales port released a few months after launch.

Wow. Wii Goldeneye finds a region where it can be top Goldeneye. Looks like the PS2 Rogue Agent had a first week under 20K, and was at under 40K a year later.

So, what is wrong with the new model that makes the old preferable, just the fan and the exclusion of LED's?
maybe they do retail sales in Japan? I dunno, but we can't expect this to be a sustainable bump.

Ah, I forgot about the Japan-only franchises like Diva, and such. Though, I consider notable to be 150k+ so a few of those don't meet that requirement (however, this is goal post moving, so don't worry about it, haha). I was just thinking of their international games like Sonic, and Virtua Tennis are so non-existent in their country of origin.

3DS has settled nicely at 30k

It hasn't settled. It received somewhat notable software almost every week for a month. When there isn't anything new out, and it's still selling 30k, then it has settled.

Yeah, there's a long drought coming, and I can't say I'm optimistic about sales holding up.

What a bump for the PS3. Super street fighter effect. 3DS and PSP are neck and neck with each other.
Is there any significant PSP title coming soon in Japan?

I think Goldeneye did well in the US also. I remember somebody from Eurocom saying it crossed a million in sales.

Thanks. I think Gundam, KB1/48 and type 0 that will be big.
It does seem strange that PSP does not have any games in the last 2 months. Even though the Vita is likely to launch in Japan.

It's true, however, that even notable announcements in Japan are made within 3-4 months before release.
However,it's strange.
Also because 3DS will be absolutely unbelievable as software from Fall to this Holiday.

Senran Kagura*
Kid Icarus
Mario Kart
Mario
MGS 3D
Inazuma Eleven
New Love Plus
Rune Factory 4*
Slime Mori Mori DQ3
Cinderella RPG*
Tea Dog*

*These will be much less important than the others, but they can count

And also next year, since the beginning

Luigi's Mansion
Resident Evil Revelations
Animal Crossing
Mario & Sonic

And I think N will announce another Pokèmon spin-off for November...maybe a new Mystery Dungeon/Ranger/something completely new and powerful...

as long as I remember it consistently charted on UK at least, however, it was UK.

Bleach is still hanging in there. Hopefully it did well enough for them to want to do one more PS3 title.

I sort of hoped it sold like crap so I don't have to play another Dynasty Warrior style anime game.

After Naruto UNS2, I'm starting to feel like Anime games should learn towards being fighting games.
