Three in November - Race to the Finish

With the next generation of consoles looming on the horizon this month is the last chance and the perfect time to complete those backlogs! Get to playing your favorite games that have been on those shelves this generation.

The challenge is simple, complete three games in November. They can be games you started in October 2013, or December 1997, it doesn't matter, just get them done by December.

Tools:

Backloggery
How Long to Beat
GAF Backlog Blitz Thread

Past Threads:

Three in October - The End is Nigh Edition
Three in September - Backlog Warrior
Four in August - Backlog Declassified
Five in July - The Ultimate Backlog Challenge
Four in June - Can You Handle The Backlog Heat?
Three in May - Backlog Returns 3D
Two in April. Destroyin' Backlogs HD Edition
Three in March. Destroyin' Backlogs One Thread at a Time
Four in February, take a bite out of your backlog

My List:

SMT IV (3DS) - Been working on this one for a little while now and just about to cross the finish line. Its really best to play the game in bursts as the constant battles can get a bit tedious.
Resident Evil: Revelations (PC) - Started this near the end of October, been working my way through the campaign so I can unlock more missions for the multiplayer Raid mode.
Batman: Arkham City (PC) - After the GFWL removal I have been chomping at the bit to jump on this one.

Deadly Premonition Director's Cut PC.
-This games first 45 minutes is really bad... I hope it gets better. Bought on hype from gaf.

ZombiU
-Gonna buy this soon

Sly Cooper Thieves in Time
-Will finish before mario.

Now that the month of trying to force myself to play horror games and then not actually playing them is over, I'll be able to catch up on titles that I really do want to play.

Ace Attorney 5: Finished the first case and started the second. Probably will be the first game I complete 'cause I love the series so damn much and can't really get sidetracked.
Grand Theft Auto V: I think I have fifteen main story missions left, something like that. Only really wanna get through the basics; I'll save 100% for the inevitable PC release. Haven't played since early October, maybe even late September.
Pokemon X: Have beaten up to the sixth gym. Definitely will be beating this month.

Other games I want to complete: Condemned (got through first two chapters in October), Costume Quest (just started last night and it seems neat), System Shock 2 (started way back in like July and just stopped)

My list:

Sonic Lost World on Wii U.
Pokemon X
Super Mario Galaxy 2

I have a feeling Sonic Lost World will be easy. Already finished the 1st world in like an hour.

Deadly Premonition Director's Cut PC.
-This games first 45 minutes is really bad... I hope it gets better. Bought on hype from gaf.

Don't worry, it does. The combat sequences are terrible but the open world stuff is where the game really shines.

Anyway, since I have trouble following a specific list of three games, I'll list eight games and try to get at least three of them done:

Floating Cloud God Saves the Pilgrims in HD
Hotline Miami
ICO - Technically not on my backlog because I finished it a decade ago but I've been intending on finishing it again since I bought the HD Collection.
Persona 4 Golden - Been intending on playing it all year but I've been avoiding it because I know it'll consume my life.
Resident Evil 6
Unit 13
Vanquish
The Witcher 2 - See P4G.

Pokemon Y First pokemon game ever, it was great fun, but the story playthrough was too easy. Took me nearly 50 hours, so it's a long one :o
Papers Please (4 endings, 4 achievements / 13 achievements and 20 endings)
WW HD (@Tower of the Gods)
Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (Holy crap, what a smashing Zelda game. ZELDA GOTF (best since ALTTP)
Typing of the Dead played first mission, it's soooooo goood

Bonus:
Finish Earthbound (@Milky Well)
Super Castlevania IV 4 hours of GODLINESS

I list my active backlog in three parts:

Kind of long games:

Bit Trip Runner (the first one, yeah)
Borderlands (the first one, although I'm almost ending it)
Crysis (freaking on-to-boot DRM makes me want to quit)
Deus Ex Human Revolution (no DC, if I haven't ended it before it goes on sale I might pick it)
Portal 2 (almost in the end, near final battle, but I don't want to end yet)
Pid
Mass Effect (haven't played it in a long time)
Sleeping Dogs (started it a few weeks ago)

Kind of short games:

Anomaly Warzone Earth
Renegade Ops (finally passed chapter 1 after long suffer)
Half Minute Hero (ended Hero 30, starting Evilord 30 on classic graphic, neo graphic sucks balls cause gameplay is different)
Gateways
P.B. Winterbottom
Prey (played it once)

Long ass games

The Witcher 1
Binding of Isaac (ending by reaching the final room, although I would keep playing)
AoE II HD

Short games:

Fairy Bloom Freesia
The Maw (past half way)
Shatter
Sonic CD (only played once)
Thomas was alone
SS Random Encounter

I don't play these on a daily basis, sometimes I say that I'm on mood for that one, other times I let random.org decide.

Hope I end some of these ;_;

Hmmm...

Lets go with:

Pokemon X
Tales of Graces f
Zone of the Enders : The 2nd Runner HD

I'm feeling risky today...I'm going to add in Sonic Lost World for WiiU only because I think it's going to be a pretty short game.

I'm going to mention four because I'm almost done with all of them.

Pokémon X
Kingdom Hearts 1 (From the HD collection)
Grand Theft Auto V
Wind Waker HD

Will hopefully finish before Super Mario 3D World.

GTAV
Splinter Cell Blacklist
Ryse
Battlefield 4
Crimson Dragon

Although, I'll probably end up playing a ton of GTAV and not much else.

My 3 backlog games for November:

Proteus (100%)
Limbo (100%) - Still have the "No Point in Dying" trophy left :\
Spec Ops: The Line (Platinum)

Still committed to platting the following
XCOM:EU -- Need that Ironman run, son!
Vanquish -- Two more tactical challenges to go.
Dead Space 2 -- Only the Hard Core mode trophy left.

I've also got a frontlog (?) next-gen games that I'm committed to 100%/Platting before the month is out:

Knack (Platinum)
Contrast (100%/Plat)

PS4 stuff aside, I'm looking forward to finally playing Spec Ops this month as I've heard nothing but good things about it.

Getting Platinum on all these games probably kills backlog progress.

I only get difficult achievements on games I really love. Plus getting 100% of the achievements on mediocre games just makes me hate gaming in general.
Spec Ops the Line is a great experience, but the actual gameplay is mediocre.

Well, if you don't finish, there is always December!

I really feel like playing Arkham Origins, but I'm holding off for now since it seems to be a bug/glitch ridden mess.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Mass Effect 3
Rain or The Unfinished Swan. Want to give one of these a try

I want to platinum Remember Me first though

Getting Platinum on all these games probably kills backlog progress.

One of my marathon-not-a-sprint gaming goals is to have a 90%+ completion rate. I don't feel the need to plat everything I have, but if I feel that it is doable-- and particularly if it's doable but requires me to play the game in a way I wouldn't have normally (e.g. DS2 Hard Core Mode, XCOM Ironman run, all endings on Lone Survivor, etc..), then I take that as a challenge and, once completed, usually gives me a greater appreciation for the game.

I guess it does slow things down a bit but it also hasn't stopped me from meeting my backlog goals (in terms of just straight-up finishing a game) these past several months. I'm not going to lie though, PS+ has been murder on my backlog
for which I am extremely grateful.

Aaand I just finished Portal 2. Awesome experience. Boss battle was easier than the first Portal one.
SPAAAAAAAAAACE Awesome ending, I knew about it but not much.
SPAAAAAAAAAACE

Ok, let's do this. I'll try to finish:

-The last of us
-DmC
-100% Motorstorm RC

Still have to start playing TLOU and DmC actually.

You should play the co-op part as well with a friend. It's really really good :)

And the first Bit Trip is not a long game btw

Well, I'll try to set it to a more manageable trifecta for this month, as it looks like many of the previous titles are going to take quite some time to get through (ex. Witcher 2)

  • Batman: Arkham City: Finally picked this up and enjoying it so far. Hard mode is a bit tedious brawling wise in the beginning, but hopefully that changes with gadgets/upgrades. The open world design also feels a little odd at first, but again I hope that progression will solve some of the issues with that.
  • Deadlight: Not a big platform person, but I picked this up during the last Steam Holiday sale. So far it's very enjoyable in-game, and having to run from enemies is a nice surprising thrill. The only thing I dislike thus far are the silent cutscenes.
  • Pokemon X: Still have quite a ways to go, as I get distracted by a lot of the side content in the game.

Still have these ahead of me:

  • The Witcher 2 (to complete)
  • Metro 2033
  • Metro: Last Light
  • Portal 2
  • FTL
  • XCOM: Enemy Unknown
  • Dark Souls (to complete)
  • NSMBU (to complete)
  • Red Dead Redemption (to complete)
  • GTA V (to complete)
  • Amnesia: The Dark Descent
  • Persona 4 Golden, Gravity Rush, Rayman Origins, and Hotline Miami for Vita

Plus several titles to platinum/100%.

I was stuck on 1-9 I think it was for a long time, I say it's long because according to HL2B is 10h long (maybe 100%, dunno)

Finished four games in October:
Timesplitters: Future Perfect
Ratchet: Gladiator
Ratchet: QForce
GTA V

Don't think I'll finish three this month, but I'm at least hoping to complete Wind Waker HD and Assassin's Creed 4.

I've used my day off wisely, having totally ignored my to-do list for the house and :

- Completed XCom EU (been savoring it over a 2 month period).
- Started and completed Spec Ops : The Line (both PS3).

I generally don't replay titles but I'll definitely be returning to XCom and getting the DLC when I have some spare cash. The story in Spec Ops carried me through some fairly run of the mill shooter gameplay, an enjoyable palette cleanser after XCom.

Next up :

- Castle of Illusion (remake) - about halfway through, thoroughly enjoying it so far.
- Killzone Mercenary, in preparation for Shadow Fall at the end of the month.

My current priorities:

The Typing of the Dead: Overkill
The Wonderful 101
Borderlands 2

Of games I've already started, I might also finish:

Resident Evil: Revelations
Thief Gold
Eldritch
Megabyte Punch

All right, lets go November:

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Resogun or Killzone: Shadow Fall

I'm going to end up playing both Resogun and Killzone but i'm not sure what one I am going to tackle first.

I'm juggling way too many games at the moment to pick three but Splinter Cell: Blacklist is definitely at the top of my list for now.

Hit 2 out of 3 in October - Lets see how November shapes up

List

Batman Arkham Origins
Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney
Killzone 3
Resident Evil 6
Battlefield 4 Campaign
Call of Duty Ghost Campaign

Finished Last of Us

Fantastic game. I was surprised that it was one thing a lot of reviewers failed to mention: fun. The dark and foreboding atmosphere did nothing to hamper the enjoyment out of beating the shit out of mushroom zombies with a wooden plank or stabbing them in the fucking face with a shiv.

One down, two to go.

Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition (PS3)
F.E.A.R. (PC)

Pokemon Y
-Just got to Victory Road, so almost done with this one.

God of War Ascension
-Amazon $15 sale this week, already at my house

Bayonetta
-Consistently on my shortlist, but I never manage to actually select it

Fire Emblem: Awakening
Bioshock Infinite
GTA V

I've started them all and got various lengths through. Should be possible to at least finish 2/3 this month.

Arkham Origins - beat the story the other day but wanna finish side quests/start new game +

Deus Ex HR DC - bought it this morning and I think i can get through it this month

Borderlands 2 Tiny Tina dlc - ever since getting a PC I've ignored my 360 for the most part but I plan on actually beating it this month

This time:

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance - A little bit into the game
The Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask - A little bit into the game
Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

If all 3 are done, previous months games not beaten:

Pandora's Tower - Started
Blazing Souls: Accelate - Just started
Riveria - A little bit into the game
Growlanser : Wayfarer of Time - A little bit into the game
Final Fantasy : The 4 Heroes of Light - A fair bit into the game
Ragnarok Odyssey - A fair bit into the game
Persona 2: Innocent Sin - A fair bit into the game
Advance Wars: Dark Conflict - A little into the game
Last Remant - A little bit into the game
Lunar Genesis - A little bit into the game
Mugen Souls - A little bit into the game
Agarest Generations of War: 2 - A little bit into the game
Atelier Rorona Plat - 30%
Tales of Graces F - Somewhat into the game

My list for November:

1. Super Castlevania IV
2. Okami HD
3. Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu

Finally managed to pick three games for this month! As a huge Fire Emblem fan, I decided to give the fan translation of Seisen no Keifu a try! I'm enjoying it a lot. This could definitely end up as one of my favourite Fire Emblem games. I'm particularly fond of the large maps and the surprisingly detailed back-story.

Well I'm working on Dark Souls at the moment, and I'm probably going to fit Beyond: Two Souls in there too. If I had to try for a third I'd guess it'll be the new Ace Attorney.

Dark Souls is crushing me though, so I dunno if I'm going to get to anything else this month...

I'll try to finish Arkham Origins, Volgarr the Viking and a replay of Max Payne 1.

I'll probably be able to play more than that, but I think I'll start a new game + of Arkham Origins as soon as I finish it so I may not even be able to beat Volgarr (not because of free time though)

I forgot I have Volgarr the Viking to finish as well!
