Titanfall: 15 maps at launch (?), perk lists, game modes, Map Photos, ahoy!

I'm away from the game at the moment so I can't try it out, but thanks!

So if I'm at its feet, I just jump like normal while its moving, and I'll cling?

Best way to approach it would be from above, top of a building for example, and drop down. You're at risk of getting trampled if you're running around its feet.

inb4 8 maps at launch rest DLC

So if the campaign is multiplayer that means every map from the campaign should probably be replayable in MP only mode so 12-16 maps sounds right.

Or just make sure you're running at it from behind and you jump right up to it.

14 maps? That is pretty damn good! Too bad the player count is so low. That kind of hurts it for me.

Yeah definitely sucks. I get absolutely no joy from killing bots so most of the time I'm flying around the map looking for pilots. Another thing that I don't like is how short the matches are. I feel like I'm waiting for a match more than I'm playing

This isn't the tutorial map (right?), similar assets but not the same, so the game possibly has 15 maps!

That definitely looks like an extension of the original area. Interesting.

Lagoon looks great, reminds me of a map from Gears of War 3 that I can't put my mind on but I always loved. Sandbar or something sandy.

Edit: this:

Similar aesthetic at least.

I'm gonna love airbase, I do love a night map - and a night map in titans is even better.

The nuke build up with light up the skys!.

Nice looking map variety, any hope for snow maps?

Map design for this game can be great provided they utilize the pilot maneuverability. It makes discovering maps seem real fun

Disappointing number of game modes, though CTF sounds like it's perfect for this game. I've only really loved CTF in Halo, and maybe this can satisfy the itch... though I feel it would play better without the Titans

So, how will the "campaign" work? Will each of the maps be treated like missions?

My guess is that each map will have a different mission that will play out with various objectives/outcomes, that sort of thing. It's still a MP match but there's story built around the objectives and what not. Not sure how it ties together from game to game? I remember the E3 demo the "lobby" of sorts was them flying in on a drop ship, which is a much longer intro sequence than we have now.

Should be interesting, looking forward to seeing what they do with it.

15 maps is a great number provided none of them are locked away as DLC or anything like that.

I'm curious though, what would be the difference between Attrition and Team Deathmatch? Possible that TDM is either a pilots only or a no AI mode?

So it's 15 maps? Nice!

Still, I like to believe that RazorUK missed a map and there's 16 maps, just like cboat said.

Wasn't that the CBOAT thread that got locked because he was wrong or something? Shaky on all of that but I recall that was when nktrnl or whatever was doing his thing.

6v6 + Titan A.I + Grunty A.I and it does not feel empty. You really cannot relax.

I think the way it's set up is pushing you into playing a certain way cause if you want action with humans you basically have to go fight titans as a pilot. Once 2 or 3 enemy pilots are inside titans then you have only 3-4 pilots in the entire maps which is too few IMO.

CBOAT's thread got locked because he said the alpha textures were the final textures, when they were not.

You have to work harder and crack those juicy Pilots out of their safety tins. :D

I know what you mean though. There is certainly a 6v6 feel going on for a few minutes and then it starts Raining Robots. :D

iirc it was locked because cboat said something not entailing the amount of maps, it might have been the texture resolution of the alpha, but i could be wrong.
respawn then discredited it via a tweet and posts in the thread, causing it to get locked.

Awesome, I have something to add to the Titanfall OT map section. Big thanks, RazorUK!

Could I also get the art for the beta maps, please?

You can relax because the grunts and spectres are idiots. Half the time they'll stand at a hardpoint shooting each other AND MISSING at point blank range. I like the concept a lot, but they really need to make them a threat instead of just a free source of points who look enough like pilots to occasionally confuse you.

I dunno. I don't relax because I see things moving and panic. :D Grunts or not, I need to shoot everything. Just in case.

I imagine you're going to be getting a lot more official assets/art/info in these final three weeks leading up to release... they'll probably really open the floodgates of info once the beta has finished to keep the hype rolling.

This shit needs to stop.

Proximity mines in every online games is a bad idea.

Seriously, I was not happy to see that. Hanging from a hardpoint cap wall cloaked with prox mines around will be the new version of corner camping. 3d corner camping!

edit: However, I give them mad props for nerfing snipers. Headshots only is a blessing, can you imagine what a nightmare 1sk body shot snipers would be with the vertical ease of movement and distances in this game?

I hope so, because I want to fill out open sections:

(Still work in progress for the OT, so be kind).

MW2
18 Campaign missions
23 Spec Ops missions (2 player splitscreen)
16 multiplayer maps (2-4 player splitscreen)

vs

Titanfall
14 multiplayer maps (no splitscreen)

This is definitely a testing ground for what's to come for the rest of the generation. Gutting a big amount of content with subpar production values at full price. Putting it on a online server where the user has no control and where product will eventually be defunct is an interesting take where big publishers sees the outlook of AAA gaming going forward.

5 years from we will look at this practice as an outlier or the norm

Infamous is single player game, with high production value, and no multiplayer. That should be a $50 game, but I will buy it at launch because of a personal bias towards the series.

OOoookay. To me, Infamous should be a $30 game because of no multiplayer, and Titanfall should be $50 because of fun/"replayability" and a personal bias towards this new ip. See how that works? It's all subjective, man.

Edit: For example, I bought Killzone Shadow Fall, and while I haven't finished the first chapter I've put in over 150 hours on the multiplayer. To me that is a multiplayer only game well worth the $60.

I'm not sure if $60 for 14 maps and 3 Mechs is a good value....especially when its MP only

How long do you think you'll be playing the game? That's the real price of value. I imagine getting dozens of hours of playtime on titanfall which makes it well worth the money spent.

This. Since when does value equate to a checklist of stuff to hit like number of maps or titans (because apparently we know what each Titan is worth now...)

If I can put 50+ hours in this game, it's more than fair value to me.

This also needs to stop. I don't see nothing wrong with that like I don't see nothing wrong with Single player only games.
it doesn't though, The single player games have been for the most part worth it for years now. It's not proven that multiplayer only is worth 60 especially since it's been 10 years at least since we have had one. I think it's good to be wary of this because even though they are not an unproven developer but The value of the game is largely unproven as well with so little information out there even if these leaks are true.

I hope the game will be good but we will see and the beta really doesn't help my thoughts on value just like it doesn't hurt it.

Lol? So because it's missing the 4 hour typical CoD/BF campaign you're worried? So much value lost without those 4 hours......

Well when there are so many mechs, it gets hard to get around as it is. I mean, generally people try to roll together and you can't walk through your allies, so you all get bunched up going through a tight spot and nobody can back up unless everyone else does. I think 6 on 6 is good. I think 8 on 8 would probably be the max.

I've paid 60 dollars for Call of Duty and Battlefield all this time.

Without touching any of the single player at all.

I'd say they give me about 100 hours each of game time with only the only.

It has been worth it every penny.

I see no problem with Titanfall or any online only game for that matter.

I'd say that SP only games are not worth it for me at all. (unless they contain 100's of hours like GTA or a Fallout).

Just curious does SP in COD or BF have any replay value in your opinion?
