You see, this is why I don't play Free-to-play shooters, because when one that looks interesting comes along, I'm not burnt out.

Well, at least the visual style is interesting. I'm not sure we needed to use such creativity in another FPS, but why not after all. The rhythm-related controls described in the arstechnica article seem ok, but it's a bit disappointing to apply them to conventional gameplay (sniper, engineer, ...).

Wow like just yesterday I was thinking about how I really wish Harmonix would start making PC games.. Rockband is one of the only things I miss about my 360.

Then this pops up.. and it says fast paced PC shooter. Whaaaattt this sound like some dream come true.

Hopefully we get a PC version of Rockband on the horizon as well.

Below you'll find our recommended PC specs for playing Chroma during Alpha. Please note that gameplay has not yet been optimized for most PCs.

OS: Windows 7 64 bit
Memory: 4GB RAM
Processor: Intel 3.0 GHz, AMD 3.0 GHz
Graphics card: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 670 / ATI Radeon HD 6800

My processor is just under the mark, but fuck it, I'm in.

It's nice to see Harmonix doing something other than plastic instruments and iffy dance games again. I really liked them back in the PS2 era.

I like the concept, but that teaser is just not very good. Being F2P though, I'll definitely give it a shot.

Yeah, that's the most exciting part to me, Harmonix being on PC.

Insomniac should be next. ^^

It looks interesting, but PC only? F2P? Eh...

"fast-paced PC shooter action"

If they are actually going to do a fast paced arena shooter it needs to be keyboard mouse focused first and foremost.

Thats part thats getting me hyped. If it was announced for multiplatform I wouldn't take the fast paces arena shooter talk seriously.

Can't really be hyped if there's not at least a few gameplay footage, PC only and what seems to be the lack of iron sight are major plus though.

The dubstep gun was sadly funny in the Saints Row way.

But mostly I'm a bit worried about the mechanics. You get bonuses for doing things in time with the music, but I can imagine people getting good enough to just ignore that. Like, it becomes better to just take a shot at someone than waiting for a beat to the take the shot.

Such a beautiful trailer ruined by dub step. Why is that still a thing, they should be hipper than this!

I'll most definitely try this. I hope it is in fact a departure from the classic FPS formula because I don't want Harmonix to be just another FPS developer.

Few things:

1. Dub-step-y music in the trailer, but the game will actually have a range of music. The current builds have both electronic music and rock.

2. Fantasia is still in development. It's really, really awesome. I'm biased, so don't take my word for it. But it's really unique. More on that again soon.

3. Rock Band isn't dead. We own and love that IP. Just kind of busy doing new stuff for the moment!

I think that's it for now. Glad to see you're all excited about this crazy weird thing we're making over here. Hope when you play it you dig it. We're looking forward to hearing feedback from players!

So... will this use our music as a weapon? I mean, I choose the path to link the game to my music folder and then, booom! You got killed by "Roundabout" by "Yes". Something like that? And the most complex the music is, the more damage it deals? Just making this..

Rez might be my favorite game ever, but I'm hoping this lives up to the idea of a music-driven shooter, which Rez was sold as. In the end, Rez was a (fantastic) on-rails shooter with great music...but not musically-driven.

In development.

Rock Band is dead.

Why though? If Ubisoft can have a game with real guitar/bass and has singing as well, the only thing missing from it being the true evolution of Rock Band is a drum chart and the ability to connect an electronic drum set.

It's amazing to me that Ubisoft got there and Harmonix didn't. Was a really poor decision on Harmonix part to make the real guitar parts require the proprietary Squier on RB3. Because they were poised to steal Rocksmith's thunder if they had made it open to all guitars.

This is something I've been wanting for a long time (and even sketched up some design stuff).

This is already my most anticipated game. Looks phenomenal.

Harmonix had their reasons for the Squier, and the tradeoff was not any guitar would work. Ubisoft went for all-guitar compatibility with a loss of accuracy and no hand position feedback. Different approaches.

There's various reasons why Rock Band is sleeping right now, and it's too much to cover in a single GAF post.

This sounds really interesting. Signed up for the Alpha.

Just read the Ars article, matching inputs to the beat sounds super crazy for a shooter. And the levels are supposed to constantly change too. I bet this game is intense.

looks cool and, honestly, after Rock band died, I'm just happy Harmonix is working on something new. (Wasn't a fan of DC.)

Saint's Row's Dubstep Gun: The Game

Could be cool though, I'd give it a shot if the F2P aspects aren't too intrusive.
