Sony Pictures making "Console Wars" movie featuring Nintendo and Sega

The movie will end with a physical war between the 2 companies, everything in ashes, as far as the eye can see and a single gold PS2 console sitting in the wake of it all, glowing bright

expecting Sony to troll the shit out of this

I think they're going overboard on the whole Sega thing, but Sega definitely have their place and came up with some amazing technology for their consoles. They kept Nintendo honest too.

Hmm, interesting concept but I'm not assured that it won't be biased towards Playstation.
If this reaches into the 32-bit generation it might be hard to come off as not being that way. It's just a matter of how bad the curbstomp is.

EDIT: Though even within the 16-bit generation they can make both companies look like idiots with turning down Sony deals. Which at least Sega was in hindsight, though Nintendo's greyer.

Sony finally defeats the evil Nintendo empire in the sequel.

In Console Wars episode IV, Xbox ONE gets the shit kicked out of them, with PlayStation 4 returning as the dominant race and Nintendo Wiiu facing extinction. In the after credits we see the Amazonian approaching Earth.

I thought that Sega existed as a game company before Nintendo and didn't do anything well when Nintendo came into the industry except the Genesis, and even then was crushed by Nintendo sales-wise.

No, Nintendo was in the (home) video game console market longer than SEGA was. Nintendo is also older as a company, having been founded in 1889 whereas Service Games was founded in 1940. Given that Nintendo was making (Hanafuda) playing cards at the time, you could also make the case that Nintendo is the older "game" company as well.

No. At least in real life.

Yes thanks to movie magic.

Because the directors do dude-bro comedies and Hollywood tends to make everybody white in these types of scenarios; for example, in 21 the real version had almost all the main characters Asian but in the movie they were almost all changed to be white.

Yeah, hiring Rogen and Dudebro pretty much says what type of atmosphere they are going for. Now, yeah, video games are vijeo gaems, but that doesn't mean that it is not a business like, say, Apple.

Sony making a movie about Sega, and they make it sound like Nintendo's the bad guy?

I... don't know what to think.

Maybe why Sony picked it up, especially if it ends with Nintendo screwing over Sony with their CD add on. It could paint Nintendo as evil as some people in the industry felt they really were during the 80's/early 90's despite their success.

50/50 was a Goldberg/Rogen film, as well.

But this is less about the actual movie and more about seeing who can get off the forum equivalent of twitter turds about Seth Rogen :)

I also like the idea that they can't cast asian-american actors. Because they can. They probably will. It'd be pretty hard not to.

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE
Ending leaked:

"I dunno, man. Nintendo's just too strong. We had a hell of a run, though, didn't we?"

"Yeah, man. Hell of a run."

(shot of two buds sitting on a porch watching the sun set)

"Hey, you think anybody's ever gonna beat 'em?"

"Nah, who could ever compete with those guys?"

Zoom out as the music builds, all the way out to orbit, Earth spins, zoom into Japan

Down to street level, violins speeding up now, the camera zooms past the shops and people into a warehouse, through the window, down to the first Sony Playstations (tm) rolling down the assembly line.

Benedict Cuberbatch as Kaz
Michael Fassbender as Iwata
Idris Elba as Miyamoto
Gary Oldman as Sonic
Christian Bale as PS One

that sounds like a dream cast

This actually could be really cool with the right writers, director, cinematographers and actors. There was a lot of crazy Mad Men type shit going on at that time.

Instead it looks like everything here is wrong, being directed by two stoner comedy directors, it makes out like Sega was this innovative underdog when they just jumped onto the bandwagon when Nintendo started making fat stacks and tried to wrestle control away from them with bullshit like BLAST PROCESSING and violent games.

I have very little hope for this, please surprise me, Rogen.

Gary Oldman as Tom Kalinske

Tommy Lee Jones as Howard Lincoln

It all happened in the Americas. Who cares about the companies being based in Japan

Their last movie, This is The End has a 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. Why are people upset about this news? For real. They make good movies.
