Gran Turismo 6 |OT| Moon Rover The Castle

Best scenario right now would be to just accept that GT6 was a failure in many aspects and move on to GT7 and PS4.

Give people who bought GT6 some sort of compensation, free content for GT7 or something like it.

Part of me just wants to scream i told you so because GT6 on PS3 was a horrible idea that many of us here could see it coming.

And that was something we thought based on the idea that the game was finished. "Well, it´s going to have better online mode, new driving model, GPS course maker, Senna content, so i´m OK with this".

Except the game has none of those features and the only one that made it (driving model) is hit and miss and seems half baked at best.

Trying to reignite the fire on PS3 it´s just dumb, the game will never be fully completed like the PR bullet points and it´s just too much effort for little reward.

I´m still waiting on the online functionality to jump back in the game, but it seems like they will only do something once they turn off the GT5 servers.

I´m just sad at the direction they´ve taken lately. I mean, you´re supposed to learn from your mistakes right? I´m hoping that GT7 can light up the fire again, but i´m afraid by the time they arrive PROPERLY on PS4 (not demos upspecs or prologues) i´m gonna be all over Pcars, AC and others.

I would really like to see GT6 sales figures... cant help but think they were disappointing.

<1 million units.

GT6 should have been a Spec III update + new DLC packs for GT5. Sony with this cut down muck tried to screw over the fanbase and it backfired. I hope the franchise never recovers from this disaster.

While I hope they do sell bugger all of GT6 and I think it was a stupid way to go and Sony should be ashamed for letting Kaz fuck it up so bad, I in no way want the franchise to die. Why would anyone want that?

Getting a bit over-the-top in here now, is it not? Wanting the GT franchise to effectively die?

GT6 is not a failure or a disaster - it's simply not lived up to the potential that we all think it could reach due to the lack of improvements to some fundamental game design issues.

It still works perfectly well as a game and is a damn sight better than a lot of other racing games out there, it's just not as good as we all know it could be. It's nothing more dramatic or terrible than that.

I think Sony is trying to treat the PS3 like the PS2 and assume it will still remain a primary gaming system choice for a huge amount of people over the first few years of the new generation.

They probably never felt that releasing GT6 when they did was 'late'. And just figured that they could take their time with the support.

Nothing is wrong with me, the problems are Polyphony and Yoshida, if nothing happens the death of GT is inevitable.

The PS4 won't do anything but enable them to gloss a turd with a new shiny coat, Polyphony need removing ASAP.

How do you know this? Sony tends to never release PR details for GT sales, even after they've crossed 1 or 2 million.

Even if they're only tracking 1/5th of the sales that they've had globally, as per previous reports, that's still over 1 million, because GT5 sold 6~ million in 4 months.

Okey Wax, you are officially went mental: lol:

GT6 probably sold over 2M ATM and maybe even more. Not close to 4+ or 5, but over 2M absolutely. We will get numbers very soon this way or another.

Absolutely agree. Besides, the game is still under development - weather someone wants to admit it or not - and once the compete package is out we would have a better idea about its true scope.

Exactly. GT6 is planned as an "long leg" title for their most important franchise, especially for their emerging markets (Brazil and Latin America being one of the greatest) for PS3. The idea is to have a foundation to build for DLC and upgrades for 24 months and allow new owners to accommodate to the platform and game.

What the fuck is wrong with you, seriously? Why the fuck would you hope that?

Vanilla in affect :D :D

Yuck, this thread. Worst fanbase ever? It's definitely up there. As bad as you may think GT6 is, it's much better than some of you deserve.

Go to GTP and see for yourself. Yes, I would agree how GT "fans" are among the worst overall.

Nothing is wrong with me, the problems are Polyphony and Yoshida, if nothing happens the death of GT is inevitable. The PS4 won't do anything but enable them to gloss a turd with a new shiny coat, Polyphony need removing ASAP.

Who would you "remove" exactly? And why? And please, explain in context of objectivity, not subjective wishes.

GT6 has been the fastest my interest has ever died out for a GT game by significant factor. Every GT game, even Prologue took me clean through the first year of playing it several times a week if not once a day. I haven't turned on GT6 or even had the mildest desire to play it in over a month. There is nothing there, there is Bathurst, but hot lapping cars against shit AI and a lack luster online competition made actual racing in GT6 no different than GT5. If I want to actually race a car, I am firing up iRacing where I know I am straight into an organized race and not a bumper car cluster fuck.

GT6 is barely even a half finished game. Releasing it on PS4 would have been an awful idea. They changed nothing, they simply undid a few horrible ideas from GT5 but by no means have they made any progress (outside of gfx and minor physics improvements) to making GT a better game or bucking a ton of long standing problems. If GT6 was their first effort on PS4, it probably would have sold a few more copies up front, but it also would have been the last GT game most people would have ever bought. It is good that GT6 got lost in the PS4 hype, it is awful and the same pathetic excuses from PD. Their word is so meaningless. All just bullshit after bullshit statements. They didn't turn it around between GT4 and 5. They are even worse between GT5 and 6. I don't see why there should be any sign of hope things are magically going to get better with 7 now that they have to do it on entirely new hardware and are already months behind on GT6 content and haven't even released all the fucking "back of the box" features promised for GT6! It is crazy. They haven't finished a game since GT4.

True, but part of the reasoning was not releasing any GT game in 2013, but rather having GT6 for PS4 in the holidays of this year. That´s all gone now, but it was just the better idea if they could have executed.

PD has done all sorts of side projects after GT4, and coincidently that has something to do with the lack of focus seen in this last generation. They´ve done things like GTR´s digital panel, FT86 telemetry GPS thing, Red Bull make believe cars, Vision GT, real racing in Nurb and off course GT Academy.

The only one that fits the game and could bring in some benefits for the series is GT Academy, all the others are just a major waste of time considering their small staff.

GT6 is going to have short legs, something that´s a first in the series, so it would be better to be frontloaded. I really can´t understand the surprise, i think only a handfull of our buddies here + PD thought the timing was good for the game. PS3 userbase and blablabla was just a huge misinterpretation of the market.

Okey Wax, you are officially went mental: lol:

Yes, Wax is crazy. Every disappointed fan wants them to return to their GT1-GT4 form, to the glory days. But getting their heads of the sand is showing to be a difficult process because they still haven´t accepted they are doing some things wrong.

The big hope that everybody thought was that with more community feedback, GT Academy and Kaz going to twitter and stuff they would finally listen to what the fans were hoping for... which is why we believed for a few years that some long time problems would be adressed.

I understand the game is still under development, but i´m calling things again, it´s never going to have all the features they promissed, pressure will be too high and they will eventually focus on PS4 if they hope to ship a game by 2015.

Thinking that GT6 is a "long leg" product that´s gonna be supported for 24 months is a terrible idea, one that only PD would think is viable. It´s already a ghost town online, and no amount of DLC is going to change this.

Where´s the GAF SuperGT league? Where´s the weekly races? Exactly, the game is fresh but it seems like nobody cares anymore. (myself included, still grinding carrear mode).

THAT is the problem with GT amar.. its always under development.

2+ million with a userbase of 80+ million is a failure no matter how you look at it for a game like GT.

While I don't agree with your reasons, I do agree with the sentiment. My interest also died out very quickly. I honestly don't know why, but I don't think it has anything to do with AI or online or the game being only partly finished. All of those issues have followed the series for a long time.

If I had to guess, it's the lack of a truly challenging "arc" to the game. There are very few long-term goals. What made the prior games so compelling was the sense that I was continually improving and learning tiny nuances and details about the cars and courses. But this one gives you none of that long-term appeal. Challenges are too easy to complete. It's a game that I felt like I completely mastered in a matter of a couple of weeks--compared to GT4, GT5 (even prologue and HD and whatnot) that kept me continually coming back periodically to give a challenge another shot, to "train" on a particular course for a while to get some incredibly difficult gold. Anything.

It's a shame, really. I think GT6 is the best the series has ever felt or looked, but it's also the least engaging or challenging the series has ever been.

Any news for the engine sounds? It really bothers me sometimes.

I'm new to Sony consoles and the GranTurismo series (in terms of hands-on play). I purchased a PS3 on Boxing Day just to be able to play GT6. I figured GT6, being the swan song for the series on the outgoing platform, would be a reasonable place to start.

My PS3 sits beside my Xbox 360. I have Forza Motorsport, FM2, FM3 and FM4 in my 360 library among many other racing games (Blur, PGR3 and PGR4, BP, DIRT, GRID, GRID2, F1 2012, Daytona USA, Crazy Taxi and OutRun). As well, my original Xbox serves up PGR2, RSC2, TOCA and CMR when I feel a little old school.

That's not meant as a boast. I just want to put my next sentence into persepective.

That Kaz and Polyphony Digital released GT6 with engine sound effects 'as is' is discouraging. The only exception is the Junior Redbull car which does sound like a properly fettled, combustion engine.

There's no reason why all the console racing games I listed above, excluding OR and perhaps CT, have better engine sound effects than the sixth release of the "Real Driving Simulator". I'd go so far to say it's embarrassing.

PD got several things right with GT6, but the SFX are not one of them. I'd be impressed if a Spec 2.0 update addressed the issue.

Doubt it, the new track shown (info should be soon) uses the same play area the course creator uses. I doubt they will abandon a feature they have been working on for a long time.

I think people are jumping the gun as to what the future holds for GT6. The game is only two months old. A new track will be very soon & we know the Senna DLC is due around May. On top of that we have over 20 vision GT cars yet unreleased. Its pretty much a gimmie that other content will hit the game.

If anything, it shows how fickle gamers are. If a developer releases day one DLC, they are cash grabbing little shits, if nothing within two months, they have abandoned the game (even though 4 cars have been released free).

Difficult to win...

I think you mean, if a dev delivers an unfinshed game and 2 months later has not made any meaningful updates. Yeah, fickle :/

Anyone else here legitimately love this game? Even when I get pissed off at the FUCKING GT-86 I can still come back to the game and have some fun ripping around a track like a maniac in an Audi R8.

Since my last rage-quit because of the GT-86, I completed the rest of the seasonal events, and I even beat the Lambo license test that I was stuck on ages ago. Still can't beat the Veyron one. It's so hard for me to wrap my head around that car because not only does it understeer really bad, you can't throw it into corners. It's just glued to the ground, and it takes so much effort to get it to move.

I will say, doing the G37 Seasonal made me much better at the game. It especially helped me on the Lambo test. Before I'd throw the Lambo around corners, but the G37 seasonal made me much more mindful of my speed around corners. Really made a world of difference.

Yeah, fuck those of us who stopped drinking the kaz-aid after GT5. The franchise is slipping with each release. It is natural for people who consider GT to be their favorite franchise to be disappointed with GT6 or at the very least frustrated. It is forgettable and doesn't inspire confidence for 7. I think Amar is still in denial about a lot of things that GT isn't delivering and likely never will. Lord Kaz is a false profit and his promises are just becoming sad and delusional at this point. My opinion, but I just don't know how you can be a die hard fan of GT and not be concerned. How's that January 1st content going? There is a difference between bitching for the sake of bitching and taking PD to task for the same problems game after game.

GT5 threads here where the same, constant no sense whine. Now it has become the holy grail.

It's impossibile to have a decent discussion about the problems of Gt6 or Gt as a series, people look like they buy these games not to have fun, you guys look bored of gaming, you look as if they buy them only to point out the problems of them on a forum, just to look as "experts" around here.

It's a sad yet somehow entertaining view.

It is impossible to have a discussion about the problems, because so many people want to act like there are none. And the reason people get pissed off is because they buy the games to have fun, and then don't when the product is not good enough.

Anyway, anyone who doesn't think GT7 will be more of the same is deluding themselves. To me it's fairly obvious Kaz is a guy who thinks Gran Turismo is just perfect the way it is, in no way at all does he think it is dated, old-fashioned and just fucking tired. He doesn't even have any goddamn standards. Fucking PS2 cars and lawnmower sound effects up in this bitch. If anything people should bitch harder.

The worst thing is that they openly shout out that they don´t play other racing games, that reality is the only thing they´re chasing.

They should be playing, and with a few nice little ideas the game could improve a lot.

I´ll never understand the people defending corporations like it´s their father or something. This really pisses me off. If you don´t have anything positive to say in order to make the game better, please be quiet.

Making fun of the fans that do care is probably the worst thing one gamer can do.

The overlap in my "complaints list" after playing GT4 (Yes GT4, not 5) for 200+ hours and playing GT6 for a few dozen is significant. That is my main problem with PD. The shit they have been doing wrong, has been going on a long time. The problems from GT5 to GT6 only further confirm they are in their own little echo chamber of delusion. I still want my GPS track creator I paid for, before they bin the GT6 servers.

I havent played this in ages either. I think its too much. Its clearly too much for polyphony to make, but it lacks focus. Its a random bunch of stuff thrown together that looks like a game. It needs a proper career mode like the Grid games but better. Some silly narrative where your a race driver who's gotta win races in ordinary cars and become the world champion in ordinary car racing.

I need to feel like what I'm doing means something, not just that there's a challenge, but some goal that doesnt take years to complete.

This is my problem. They know these problems exist and they are legitimate problems. Even worse, most of them are in direct conflict with Kaz's own prescribed vision/values. Attention to detail, but incorrect car specifications. Near perfect car models, but poor audio samples. Amazing track suspension relationship, but horrible collisions. And on and on.

I only got to meet Kaz for a fleeting moment at the Jalopnik film festival. My impression was one of a person with incredible intellect. I would say almost a savant persona. I assume, based on this statement and what we know in the public realm, that Kaz is the commander at PD. GT is developed under his vision, and his vision alone. Sure they may make a change here and a change there, but the structure of the end product is his own vision, for better or for worse.

I think I may actually end up passing on GT7 unless I see some major improvements in the series' weakest areas. There's things I definitely don't like in GT6, and some things that have just never really been up to par (i.e. the engine sounds).

I'm not sure that I buy that "we don't play any other games" line, because it's just so common sense in this day and age... you have to know what your competition is doing if you want to stand any chance against them. It's business suicide otherwise. But on the flip side, the complete lack of addressing any of the major complaints about the series (that are there primarily because all the other games have addressed these issues already and PD is still running the same old, same old) appear to indicate that they really don't know what their competition is doing and why the fans keep complaining about the same things over and over again.

One of the biggest examples, IMO, is the oft-called-for livery editor. Yeah, the GT fanboys immediately shout out about not wanting to see penises all over the cars (for the record, I've never actually seen a penis on any car, in any game). But from my experience, the only ones who repeatedly say "GT doesn't need a livery editor" are people who have never used one. I've played Forza, and I know what that one little feature is capable of, and I think I'm about done with games that don't have it. I want my car to be MY car and not just a blue one. Even adding a little pinstripe can be enough. That's actually one of my biggest questions about DriveClub.. what does it have for customization?
