Whenever I see people moving around, wall running and double jumping, the game looks great. Then I watch people play the game normally and it looks like CoD until the Titans drop. Are those just bad players? I'm really hoping the people who master the movement just wreck everyone's shit, but I'm getting a low skill ceiling feeling from this game ala CoD. Hope I'm wrong.

I have a feeling that in the objective-based games, good movement will win hard. If you can get around to points/flags more efficiently than your opponent, what chance do they have?

I'm not bashing. It really does. I like CoD, I like Respawn, I like mechs, so this game is already preordered. They are not the same, but they are pretty similar. Pretty sure that is what they aimed for.

I'm honestly not sure what people expected. In the same way that Destiny looks like Halo....Of course Titanfall looks like a superior Call of Duty after all it's coming from the people who put COD firmly on the map and established it as one of the biggest games on the planet.

Respawn are the real Infinity Ward (38 of the original 46 team), the studio who provided the blue print that the likes of Treyarch now build their reputation off. To me Respawn have taken their original blue print and both improved and refined it yet people use this to dismiss the game. It's the studios first game as Respawn so honestly who can blame them for sticking to what they are good at?

I agree entirely. People shouldn't dismiss Titanfall because it looks like CoD, since I agree it is both improved and refined. However, you can't really be defensive if some people find the games similar (from afar, anyway), since they really look very similar. I like that they are, since I enjoy CoD.

Has there been any confirmation either way about using kinect for in game voice chat? I am think it can be used party chat.

Thanks.

I'm trying to decide if I should crack open this xbox one or return. I got the console mainly for titanfall but seeing as I have a good PC (670nv card, 8 GB ram, good processor) should I play this on PC? I hate origin and I think the only community will be more robust on Xlive.

For those playing the beta on PC, how's the performance? Is it more enjoyable on X1?

PC performance is great (have the same card). Origin is good (why do you hate it?). Mouse/keyboard best.

Does it not let you buy anymore or something?

Well, I can buy other games using that method, but not Titanfall. I tried buying BF4 and Titanfall at the same time, and it failed. Then I bought BF4 by itself just fine. Then I tried Titanfall a few more times and no go.

My guess is that they have something specific in the code that doesn't allow Titanfall to be purchased that way. Oh well, I think it's worth the money at full price anyhow.

BF4 not crashing on me after today's patch. I could ease down a bit and contemplate spending money on another EA title. Show us some videos about the mp campaign mode please.

I just tried it using proxymexico.com and it's in my cart, ready to go. I just need to decide if I want it or not. Hmm.

Edit: the exchange rate leaves it at around $37. I guess that's a fair price for the game. I went ahead and bit.

I played it on both. My PC is a I5 2500k, 16 gig ram, and a GTX 670, so I ran it on high textures, with a constant 60+ fps, on the same 1080p TV. Honestly, to me I didn't notice a tremendous difference in the game, except for the a little slow down on the X1 version. If Respawn sorts this out by launch, which I expect they will, I personally am going to go with the X1 version. Also, the tearing on PC when vsync was disabled was atrocious.

Did it go through? I could get it all the way to the point where it gets to "your order is processing, please don't hit the back button", but it always fails that final step. This is after you get routed to paypal and everything.

My order is listed as "processing" under my Order History. I've been charged by Paypal already and received a spanish order confirmation via email. I haven't check Origin itself yet to see if the game was added as I'm at work but I'll check it out once I get home.

Huh, yes, please let me know. Very weird. Maybe I'll give it another shot.

To be serious for a second, I've never really understood why people use "it looks like Call of Duty" as if it's some sort of inherent attack.

It really is true that Titanfall's shooting and on-ground movement "feel" is a lot like Call of Duty.

But....why are some using that as an assumed bad thing? I've seen it both from people who like Titanfall - "It's not like Call of Duty!" - and people who don't like Titanfall - "It looks like Call of Duty!"

I didn't think anyone actually has a problem with Call of Duty's shooting or movement. For what it's trying to do, it does it extremely well. It's why so many people who hate Call of Duty today absolutely loved Call of Duty 4. It's not like the shooting and movement mechanics have gotten worse, it's that the rest of the game around those mechanics haven't changed at all.

Now, finally, Titanfall is introducing a massive amount of innovation and change around those shooting and movement mechanics, including a lot of extra mobility. Great! Isn't that what everyone wanted ever since they got bored with the Call of Duty formula? Why are some people acting like the shooting and movement mechanics in Call of Duty are the problem? You shouldn't fix what isn't broken.

In some circles it's cool to hate Call of Duty these days.

I agree that you don't fix what isn't broken, and the guys at Respawn created some of the best analog stick aiming I've ever experienced with Modern Warfare 1/2, and it feels even better in Titanfall.

I absolutely can not wait for it to come out, and I have no problem admitting that the core gun play feels a lot like Call of Duty. Like you, I don't see that as a bad thing. In terms of shooters, Call of Duty routinely has the tightest shooting mechanics.

The major 4 things I've had a problem with in virtually all Call of Duty games are lag/host advantage, short kill times, poor map design, and awful spawn systems.

Titanfall has eliminated all of that (except for maybe the short kill times, but I love games like Gears and Killzone that take a bit to kill the player) while maintaining a lot of the same game play qualities that makes Call of Duty so popular even with the same problems every year.

Mix in the added depth of the wall running, double jump, and the Titans and you've got a spiritual successor to Call of Duty, which IMO, is what they were aiming for. The next evolutionary step to what they originally built with the early Modern Warfare games.

The gunplay and weapons being like Call of Duty isn't a bad thing, but I am personally tired of generic automatic weapons and using ADS (aiming down sights) in modern shooters. ADS slows down movement so much, and that's kind of the antithesis of the fast-paced movement and parkour in Titanfall. Using the pilot weapons in the beta felt fine, but I wish there was a medium range precision weapon that could be fired accurately from the hip. In other words, I want to kill people from a decent range while wallrunning and maintaining my momentum.

The great thing about arena shooters like Quake and Tribes is that your movement doesn't inhibit your ability to fire your weapon accurately. You can fly all over the map, killing people consistently (assuming you're being accurate and leading your shots well). Whereas in Titanfall, if you want to fire your weapon accurately, you need to slow down and use your ironsights, or get really close to your opponent and use a shotgun.

You can't play a fast paced console shooter without ADS (or something similar) because your sensitivity would be too high to aim.

There are some similarities, but that doesn't mean you can say the entire game looks like cod.

Honestly, I feel that that's the primary purpose of the Smart Pistol in Pilot vs. Pilot balance. Next closest thing is the SMG, but yeah, that's more close to medium range.

Then again, I've found the general spread of the weapons to be not that bad. Not using ADS at less than long range may double the kill time, but you're moving around anyway to increase your own survival time.

Watching Bunnyhop's video as well as some of my recordings confirmed to me that a lot of people don't realize you can use your anti titan weapon on dropships. This needs to be in the full game's tutorial.
