You have to play Crysis 1 again. I was shocked when I saw how terrible the game looks today. Crysis 3 has waaaaaay better lighting, textures and post processing effects.

Wut. Cerny has said need a bit more time before ps4 can be maxed out; more or less the same time of the previous ps3 (but obviously you don't believe to him because is inside sony) . Developers rarely talk to untapped power, there are more the direct producer of the console. .

It's actually a thread with gifs and pictures. It's a little hard to compare like for like cause the game has that dynamic weather and time cycle but i am trying my best. Current version is not terrible or anything compared to the 2012 demo, it's just that like how DF said the current version is missing the subtle distance dof effect, better shadows, more detailed characters, better af (I noticed the e3 demo had low af too) and best of all TXAA. And since the ps4 version is confirmed 1080p it should not look as blurry as it currently does, so it's either using fxaa variant or some other horrible post-aa method. Reminds me of those early ps3 multiplats/exclusive that use quincunx- aa which blurred the whole image. Still trying to add more stuff though.

2nd is from the 2/20 demo running on pc with ps4 approximate specs.
3rd is from the 09/04/13 demo Ubisoft released.

Someone mentioned the leaves being glued, that's in both the e3 2012 and September demo. However the 2012 demo had debris moving around.

Edit: The gifs are just to compare how his coat moves, but the weather is different.

No RSX? ........ a GPU ....... Nothing more.

Cell had some very unique architecture and utilising it took time and it improved PS3 visuals certainly.



For you to say there is nothing left untapped, no new methods to be utilised and that the systems are fully tapped and ll the tricks discovered is total bullshit.

I really hope the game does not look smeared in vaseline, like PS3 games sometimes did/do. I am no graphics expert but why would a dev choose such a terrible method of AA? Its not really a matter of preference either, as who would want a blurry IQ as the final result?

Just a personal preference, but i like his 2012 model better and how it animates His recent model looks just like an average person.

Eyes look much better in the current build. Df said that the 2012 demo was probably using TXAA. The console versions wont use it because it's exclusive to nvidia cards right? So most likely fxaa.

What's the secret sauce you talking about? what piece of electronics on those consoles are there to be unlocked? none.

I'm assumming post means post-aa like fxaa. It costs next to nothing to use which means more processing power for other things. I'm hoping that if nvidia doesn't make txaa available for the consoles then hopefully some Sony dev (ND/SSM) make their own low cost aa method that doesn't look like shit.

I never said there was any secret sauce or electronics to be unlocked, much like there was none last gen.

There is no way, based on maturation of tools and drivers that anyone could drag maximum performance from these machines at this early stage ....... never mind the fact that refs had not had time to figure out the best way to utilise the resources at hand.


Based on that fact alone I am certain we shall see better graphics in a few years time than we see now from consoles ........... time will tell ....... see you in a few years time.

Go build a PC with X360 specs and try to play at X360 quality.

The comparison video I posted earlier (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77M8E3NSEso) has some of it in. Also, when the police car crashes against the bollards, it seems they've reduced the particle effects and opted for some "cheaper" smoke instead.

Damn, I knew the face had less character when I viewed the latest trailer. Such a shame!
So from having a good animated face with nice expressive eyebrow animations, we now have mannequin-034 with micro expressions where his lips hardly move and he looks slightly surprised in every cutscene. Good job ubi!

Why you continue to compare console with pc? Even with the same chip, console not work like pc. Pc are computer, console are games machines. Game machines are always faster to play game, they are projected for this. You think Cerny is an idiot when has designed ps4 putting some piece here & there just hoping to work?

I hate how the dynamic lighting is dramatically turned down in the newer build. Also, if it weren't for those flat textures. Ugh!

Yeah, he's definitely been downgraded. Looks like a last-gen dead-face character now instead of ... well, a human being. In that gif of the earlier version of the guy, I could even read his lips. Now it just looks like his mouth is subtly moving around.

Maybe it's bad footage, I dunno.
 
He looks the same in all three, except the third one has a better effect on the lip. Any difference is due to the e3 video being very dark and crushing the blacks.

I have a Radeon 7850 in my PC, a GPU frequently compared to the Ps4 as being approximately about the same level of power. It can run BF4 on the second highest settings in 1080p and stick pretty close to 60fps.

CPU, only having final kits for a couple months before launch, and the fact that BF4 was one of the biggest rush jobs I've ever encountered all contribute.
