Titanfall 360 version delayed to April 8th (US), 11 (EU)

With all the conspiracy theories, I would like to try!

Maybe they are delaying the 360 version into April so that gives them 2 months of better Titanfall Sales Numbers PR. They report the Xbox One sales in March, then the Xbox* sales in April.

For example: "Titanfall, the most anticipated game of this generation, sold XXX,000 copies in the month of March, making it the fastest selling game in Xbox One history. But you cannot keep a Titan down, as Titanfall, "the most incredible creation by any human being" according to @mikeyxbox, increased sales in April to a blistering XXX,000 copies, making it the quickest selling game on Xbox* "

I was going to make a post quoting all the conspiracy theories from the first page or so. I then decided that was a bad idea considering how many of them there are, it would just be a wall of wasted space.

This has every appearance of a normal development delay for optimizations. People acting like a few weeks can't make a difference are off-base. You can simply look at the history of games delayed by roughly that same amount of time as evidence. Based on the performance range on the PC and XB1 versions, people assuming for some reason that the 360 version will look the same or run at 60 fps are likely to be disappointed. That matches up with our insider information as well.

For how frequently people criticize publishers for pushing a title half-baked out the door, I'm inclined to give some credit here for a developer/publisher giving an already technically demanding port some extra polish. Mind you, it could still end up rubbish, but they're at least giving it a chance.

Are you for real? Now MS delaying games is going to be like this for some of you? Wow. It's not possible at all that the 360 version is having troubles so like Drive Club, like Watchdogs, like Kinect Sports and many other games.. it's getting delayed to make it better.

This is hilarious. People bitch about games coming out unfinished these days and they patch to make them work, and here's a game that is delaying to make it better and it's about MS "fucking their userbase"

Get over the MS hate. If you're not part of the userbase, why even worry about such a phantom thing. I just got civilzation for free on my 360. Far from fucked over from MS on my 360. I guess it's cute to see people worry about 360 users though now. I know nobody is caring about Wii or PS3 people.

I try best to censor myself, but with you - whom I've seen post frequently - it's nearly impossible.

Why wasn't the Xbone version delayed as well to "make it better"? There are framerate issues and the devs are already talking about bumping the res. You'd have a stronger case if the Xbone version did not ship on time and with issues.

There's a difference between tweaking a released game that maintains 50-60fps with random drops in the 30-40fps range and releasing a last gen version that may be struggling in the 15-30fps range.

X1 version is fully playable and patch-able. The 360 version may be a slideshow that needs more work.

You know no more than I do. The only thing we do know is that it needs patching on the new console and PC....so one can assume it's an even bigger deal getting it to run on lesser hardware. That makes complete sense.

Sadly I doubt we'll ever truly know why the game was delayed for certain

The second delay actually makes me think strongly that it was in fact due for optimizations and not anything XB1 related

I could believe the first delay was to perhaps boost XB1 unit sales but EA wants the 360 version to sell. I highly doubt they'd be ok with delaying it to help MS sell XB1's. Although it is curious that they didn't just launch this version broken like another recent game

Wow, I've never heard of delaying a game so last minute. Hope it comes out alright!

If it's that bad, I doubt two weeks would be enough. It's pretty clear to see what MS is trying to do here.

I want to find a pattern here, it would be interesting to know how many of the ones saying this is a conspiracy what consoles they have, the same for the ones saying this is not a conspiracy.

It was supposed to come out in 6 days.

If there were technical problems, wouldn't they have delayed it sooner than 6 days before release?

I was planning on picking this up next week, but with the delay I may just wait and pick it up at the first price drop. I'm tired of waiting for it. I wouldn't doubt this is Microsoft's doing more so than anything else. They probably want to get more people to transition to the XOne. I'll probably just go ahead and pick up Infamous Second Son this Friday and dive into that instead.

Are there really no screen shots or vids of this version yet? I didn't follow it. If that's the case, then yes, there's something suspicious going on here. There must be something majorly wrong here for EA to halt it's release, after all, they put out SimCity and BF4 and those games were unplayable. Or, game looks too similar to it's counterpart, and they don't want to look foolish just yet.

I imagine Respawn had a large part in its delay? Maybe Bluepoint themselves weren't happy with it and asked for the delay?

I also imagine that Bluepoint will move onto other games after this so they want as good as product out the door at the beginning rather than having to do a lot of post release work on patching various issues.

I think it more of it just failed certification. Now they have to delayed it since it just not enough time to fix whatever the problem was.

My guess discs are pressed. This is day 1 update work

Agreed. At the very least, the disks and packaging are being mass produced as we type. Unless they delay it again, which would start to look comical.

I don't agree with the conspiracy theories at all since the game is readily available on PC and playable* on mid-range systems. For the conspiracy theories to hold any kind of water, Microsoft would have paid EA a nice sum to delay the PC version too.

2 weeks??
What can they possibly fix in 2 weeks?
The game should have gone gold by now.
A day 1 patch will take more than 2 weeks to approve right? Unless it's already in the approval process?

Hmmm, think this was done to push the XB1 version more.

Did you see any screens or vids of the Xbox One version of Thief before it came out last month? Because if you didn't something is majorly wrong here.

The discs are probably sitting in warehouses right now. Because this is an online only game they know each and every user is going to connect to their servers, and thus they really don't have to "finish" the game until the day of release, because that day one patch will be downloaded by everyone who wants to play the game.

If they found a serious problem/bug yesterday, a lot can be fixed in 2 weeks.

yeah this is pretty fishy.

We still know nothing about the game too. This is reminding me a lot of what Nintendo did with Twilight Princess.

I'm on the conspiracy side here and I only have a Wii-U at the moment. Only had a Wii 'last' gen.

I do plan on getting a PS4 soon though so that probably helps you pin me on your opinion of my opinion for your pattern. I do think TitanFall looks great and wish I could have gotten it but my PC was below the min specs. I have no interest in getting a Xbone.

In an online-only title? Not really. This isn't a situation where the disk-pressings matter so much as the launch title-update. The nature of the delay should *further* discredit a marketing motivation.

This is getting absolutely fucking ridiculous. When will anything be said of this game? When will I actually get to play it?

We've been promised feature parity and that's about it.

Is this version a fiction to taunt people who didn't want an XB1? I don't believe that, but if this shit continues, I might.

Unbelievable. They should be telling us what's going on already. It'd at least make this a hopeful announcement and not another fucking debacle.

Let's try this again:

Logical reasons that a two week delay for TitanFall has nothing to do with pushing Xbox Ones:

(1) EA delayed Garden Warfare very close to its original release and within a shorter time frame (a one week delay, was it?). This suggests EA wants to avoid any mishaps of online play after the BF4 issues. They need to gain goodwill, not continue to lose it.

(2) If Microsoft wanted to push Xbox Ones then they would have originally announced a 4 week delay (until after March) instead of a 2 week delay, and then another 2 week delay. For people who say that this is actually a 4 week delay which would potentially cause people to buy Xbox Ones - this is not the case. They essentially reset the clock by announcing two different two week delays. That doesn't seem as long for people as an original 4 week delay would have been.

(3) Certification issues and/or optimization improvements

(4) I seriously doubt Microsoft has much say on when EA can release the game they (EA) have publishing rights for. Microsoft paid money for Xbox exclusivity. If they were worried that the 360 version would take away from Xbox One sales then why didn't Microsoft just make a deal with EA to make TitanFall a next gen only game?

(5) If Microsoft did not want people to even consider the 360 version until it was released then that version would not be advertised on the 360 dash!

Logical(?) reason(s) that the 2 WEEK delay was to push more One units:

(1) Microsoft is evil and other reasons!

Get this logic out of here.

You're in a thread announcing the answers to basically every question you just asked.

I'm just venting, really. I read through the whole topic and that doesn't change my opinion or what I wanted to say. I'm just getting tired of this bullshit because this has been overhyped and I'm still left totally in the dark.

Also lol @ people saying don't get the game if it's 30fps. From what seen the XB1 version floats around 40-50fps. Only would be a slight downgrade.
Honestly, a stable 30 fps without tearing would feel better than the framerate on Xbox One.

Uuuuuugh. Come on.
I didn't buy an Xbone because I wanted a PC copy.
I didn't buy a PC copy because I have an extra 360 and I can play with my girlfriend with it.
Just sell me the fucking game. -_-

Something "gamebreaking" would not cause a delay this close to release. They would ship and patch it.

Like what? Please enlighten us.

Because any performance fix would require far more than 2 weeks of testing. Anything you do to a games code has the potential to break something else.

Im just not seeing a hot fix for the game made without rigiourus testing and that would mean far more than a 2 week (month total) delay.

Spoken like somebody who hasn't followed the BF4 release.

Perhaps spell it out for those of us who it isn't clear for?

Simple, MS wants to bury the game as much as possible and keep all attention on the X1. Since we've heard no figures, I'd take it the game didn't quite do quite as well as they expected (now that's not saying it didn't do great, just not as good), so they push the 360 back another 2 weeks in order to keep attention on X1.

The big thing is, after Titanfall, MS will fall into irrelevence for a long while. Their next major release would Halo 5 or Quantum Break (though that doesn't really feel like a system seller, it'll definitely get them buzz). Alternatively, a price cut could bring back attention as well. With Sony pushing ahead with VR, having marketing for two of the biggest (if not biggest) games of the year (Destiny and WatchDogts) (not to mention the probability that every multiplat will come with news of the X1 being inferior), and finally opening up about their first party development (hopefully at E3), it's going to be a very tough road.

I'd say I'm a conspiracy nut, except that MS has given us plenty of reason to doubt them, I don't see why it'd be different now. Why anyone still trusts a word they say, I've no clue.

This stinks to high heaven.

If it comes out, and sucks, we'll believe them that bugs needed to be fixed to get it shippable and out the door.

If it comes out and it's great, I'm going to assume the delays were faked. Even if we account for the 'fixes'.

I disagree. I'd take the current performance on XB1 over that any day of the week.

Weren't some people arguing that they'd rather have the more stable and closer to 30FPS performance on Tomb Raider over the higher, but more unstable Framerate on PS4?

Honestly, I don't mind either way. I'd prefer it to be as close to 60 if given the option but a solid 30 is fine too.

Well Fuck now I guess I have to settle for the PC version till April

That really doesn't make any sense. MS gain nothing from burying this version of the game, if anything they would be the ones wanting this out as soon as possible so they can use its figures (along with the X1) to claim that TF is a sales beast on the Xbox platform.

As for falling into irrelevance, I really don't know what to say to that. You're assuming a lot about what MS have planned for the rest of the year and I feel that's not the most sensible thing to do right now.

What makes you think that MS won't have any major releases outside of Halo 5 or QB this year? What makes you think they won't have a good E3 with some surprising announcements?

As for VR, that's great for Sony but it's a bit early to assume they'll have a massive E3 blow-out. Will they mention it? Undoubtedly. Will it feature heavily in their conference? That's somewhat unlikely at the moment...
