You know, LN premises that glorify otaku culture and consumerism are really something else. It goes beyond the snake merely eating its own tail to sucking down its own shit thinking that it tastes amazing. I can't think of another medium that exists solely to validate and laud its readers' warped and self-destructive approach to society and social interaction so that they continue purchasing more in an endless cycle. It's an exploitative industry that consumes its own consumers by enveloping them in the delusion that their lifestyle is actually glamorous. Kirino and Kirito are the anime industry's Joe Camel.

If I'm reading this correctly, on the LN page for Fujimi Shobo, there's a message under the series Saenai Kanojo no Sodatekata that claims it's getting an anime adaptation on noitaminA in January next year.

edit: lol, and of course it's mysteriously vanished by now, but the picture proof is still at the article link.

I was gonna say this makes no sense, but after googling it, I realized I was already reading the manga adaptation, lol.

It's kinda meh. The main character is pretty worthless.

Direct descendant of Salad Dressingmeyer, that Fakir sure is something

The amount of Spousal abuse sure is something, and there's a group of stalkers part of the Salad Dressingmeyer fanclub. Is Lilie not going to have a major role?

Duck, you don't only watch damn it. You dance and not space out

Looks like Aniplex accidentally made that full PV for Ping Pong available for about a minute before they set it back to private. Wonder if anyone managed to grab it.

I know it's fashionable to hate on Tomino (for good reason), but damn if I'm not excited that he's making a new Gundam show. Cannot wait. Also loving how out-there all the mecha designs are. It's not quite Turn-A crazy, but it's close enough.

As for The Origin likely just being an adaptation of the Pre-0079 Char and Sayla stuff, color me super disappointed. The manga adaptation is fantastic and the changes it makes to 0079 really help make that story shine. Love the way they redesign a lot of the key mecha as well. Hope we can still eventually get some kits of The Origin stuff. As tired as I am of the RX-78, I'd kill for a MG and RG version of The Origin's rendition.

Another Ping Pong, this time presenting Dragon: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1ijm6o

Edit2: official link unregion locked link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0FgvRHrxTg why u so late noitamina.

There should be a PV for the series tomorrow if I'm not mistaken.

Everything that I see of the show just makes me more excited to see it. I've probably watched and rewatched this trailer at least a dozen times :
www.youtube.com/watch?v=16GlyUFXtzY

Show is just screaming with a level of style that puts it above most of what's coming out in the Spring. Makes me want to check out Tatami Galaxy to see what else this director's put out there, and I've heard great things about that series as well.

All this plot plot plot in the duck pot pot pot

Rue's suffering moe is apparently going in a different direction, maybe. You know, would it be safe to say that everyone is a NEET here?

Seems like Salad Dressingmeyer might get a taste of Thousand Island dressing as a result, but the first objective would be to make sure it's vegan friendly.

But as long as The Origin is successful, do you really think they'll stop with just that? Chronologically, the Char/Sayla story -is- the starting point of the story for The Origin. It's also self-contained enough that if it's not a huge hit, or if plans change, it won't feel like an incomplete story, and for those interested in the OYW story after that, there would still be the original series. If it's successful though, they could continue with the subsequent parts introducing the start of the war, before they really commit to doing the full OYW story itself. It would still be a huge undertaking because of how long the story is.

The horrible truth revealed

Azusa has joined and finds out that it's more about cake and tea than playing music. Good thing one can trust Miss Yamanaka to help by... bringing costumes and headbands. No help at all then.

Another touching moment towards the end and the amount of comedy in this episode makes this my favorite so far in this dub re-watch. Good stuff.

My favorite Gundam is a Tomino show (Turn A)
and that was a post UC show
so I'm actually kinda pleased with this.

Another thing this has going for it is that, judging by the world state and the colorful animation, is this is going to be the happier Tomino that gave us Turn A rather than depressed Tomino that gave us Victory.

Yeah, I can totally see that. I hope that's how it goes. There are so many small changes that makes The Origin a better story overall. Things like how the Guntank and Guncannon are older mass-production suits makes things like the mechanical history of the OYW make so much more sense. It also paces the story much better. Heck, I could see them even adapting the OYW part of the story as a full series if this OVA series is successful. One can hope.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Brilliant. Even the writers know how we feel. Also the scene with the tsundere alien movie made me laugh.

As to the episode itself it was pretty good. Hakuya and Kobeni seem to have learned more about each other.
I can understand why they left at the end. Maybe the family told them that at this point they're being a bother and are forcing her on the marriage so they should return home. Or maybe they returned home for another reason.Either ways I expect the next episode to be about Kobeni and Benio going to the mountains and getting them back

Right, but Post-UC stuff is either great (Turn-A, Crossbone) or horrible (F91, Victory). That's what I'm getting at.

It can be, and I hope that it is, but Post-UC stuff is sort of kind of hit and miss.

F-91, Victory and Crossbone are still UC. Just very, very late UC. Distinction without much difference, but the Gundam nerd in me had to correct.

I still like Victory

Yeah, looks like we're probably safe there. Unless a time travelling Uso shows up :p.

Wait, I thought Unicorn took place UC91, didn't it? All of these shows take place after the date rolls over past UC100, doesn't it? So technically it isn't the Universal Century anymore, right?

Even if it is, that just further compounds what a mess the timeline is after Unicorn.

I'll probably be jumping off the Gundam boat for a while once I finish X, G, Wing, and Build Fighters.

This UC continuity stuff seems a little too confusing for me, although I'm sure it can't be as confusing as the Kingdom Hearts continuity.

UC Continuity is actually way easier to piece together if you're just going by shows.

Not like fucking Macross where nowhere on the internet did I read "Macross II is non-canon bullshit" until I was 5/9ths of the way through it.

It's a school life comedy spin-off which starts some time before Soul Eater did.

Not entirely. That suggests there's minimal to no action, when there's actually quite a few fights, or at least there were before it stopped getting translated.

Soul Eater Not has a bit of an identity crisis, trying to do both the school life thing and the standard battle shounen thing.

UC is a calendar, not a literal century. It's like how we use the Gregorian calendar. Just the name. It's a dumb name, but everything post UC 100 is still UC. Unicorn is UC 0096, F91 is UC 0123, Crossbone is UC 0133 and Victory is UC 0153. Turn A is on a whole different calendar, Correct Century.

Thinking about this, that means that F-91 is less than 30 years after Unicorn. Given the different world states, that makes almost zero sense. So, yeah, anything post Unicorn might as well not be UC.

Pretty sure people told you before watching Macross II that it was bad and was written out of canon/alternate universe.

What are people's opinions about Silver Spoon? Good show? Reading the synopsis gives me Non Non Biyori vibes, does it contain some healing as well?

Samurai Flamenco 21

The same thing that guides Harry Potter and Marty McFly alike, what Masayoshi needs to save the world is the
power of love.
A bit surprised that's being introduced now. If Haiji can
kidnap Goto
, he's almost certainly real to some extent. I'm not sure how this is going to wrap up. Samurai Flamenco will have one final battle where he wins with
power of love
, but even in one episode, nothing is certain for this show.

Weird. I always treat it like it's a different thing, though. I know UC characters show up in it, like the old dude in Crossbone who is a OYW vet and Judau in the Crossbone sequel, but I mean, F91 on is just sorta different and wonky. I mean, Cosmo Babylonia suddenly rises to power and then vanishes. The Jupiter Empire rises to power and then vanishes. The Zanscare Empire just rises and vanishes. The Earth Federation is like, the one constant.

I hope that because they've discarded the UC moniker G-Reco will be more like Turn A, though. Piecing it together with Turn-A is going to be a nightmare, I bet, but then, that's half the point of Turn-A.

Pretty sure people told you before watching Macross II that it was bad and was written out of canon/alternate universe.

People told me it was bad, but I don't remember being told it wasn't canon.

Silver Spoon is amazing. As somebody who has only read the manga but plans to get on the show if a third season is announced, it is absolutely brilliant. It's a coming-of-age story where our protagonist comes in all negatively not sure what to do with his life and slowly learns about this brand new world as he grows as a person.

It also has an amazing cast of side characters. Which isn't surprising considering it's from the author of Fullmetal Alchemist. Everybody is likable and has their own defining look and traits. There's also great comedy and it's very informative. I can't emphasize how informative it is. The author did her research since she lived through this and it's a very endearing part of her life. You'll learn about farm life, proper way to kill animals, how cheese is made, bacon, etc... it's absolutely amazing if you're an information hog like myself. There's also a very slight romance story in it. But about the same as FMA where it's in the background and very secondary to just about everything in the show.

In short it's slice of life done completely right. One of the better ones out there. I can't recommend it enough. Like I said I'd watch the anime but I'm waiting for a third season to be announced which would start adapting the later chapters in the manga.

Not 100% sure about this, but I think that CC has been put off in its own timeline now. It's no longer technically part of the UC. It's weird, but there's also no reason that Reco will have to incorporate Turn-A.
