Rumoured April Playstation Plus (Europe) content

Last E3 they could have said that we wouldn't be getting PS+ games on PS4 for at least a year until the library is big enough. That's what I mean about them not being obligated to give us PS4 games. Right now we're getting 'free' games on the day they release and people are still whining because they're not AAA. It's just ridiculous entitlement.

Oh, stop with that fucking entitlement bullshit.

I'm paying for this. They didn't say "we might not have games" like your supposition states, they said that PS Plus consists of new games on each console free every month. And they are putting the bare minimum effort in on PS4, every month. "Hey, here's your free indie game. Oh, we set the standard for more on the PS3 and the PS4 launch? Unsubscribe then... oh wait, you want to play online? Then take the free indie game, it isn't like we have to secure your purchase".

I wouldn't be paying for this if I could play online without subscribing. That's different to 6 months ago where it provided consistent value on the PS3 and Vita.

Sure, some months are disappointing. But when you consider 12 months of Plus... man alive, it's incredible value. £30-40 a year for Vita, PS3 and PS4 content? Amazing.

So yeah, last month was a little light for me already owning TR, but I look at the value over 12 months and not each month in isolation.

But no matter how "bad" any given month is, it's till oodles of content for £3.33.

I mean, come on... £3.33. Less than the price of a pint.

Already own Hotline Miami and Sly, and have no interest in MotoGP or PES. But I'll check out Mercenary Kings.

People expecting more already on PS4 are delusional

Couldn't agree more. The games this month interest me way more than Infinite and Metro. Shocking news: different people like different games.

not to mention when you give a game away like bioshock infinate there is a damn good chance you've bought it and played it anyway. i prefer when PS+ has good but niche titles. things like catherine.

If you're paying for this, then it means PS+ is worth that value to you.

Been waiting for Sly and Hotline Miami so I'm very pleased.

For the people saying how this is proof that ps+ is getting worse (as they predicted), I just think you should hang your controllers up and just stop.
Fact is we are still getting big games for ps3 and vita (all games are big for vita these days) and then they also now give you ps4 games on top.

How has it got worse?

Oh you mean because they aren't giving AAA games away on ps4 yet? Vita had to wait almost a year before it got any games free, and even then the games given away so far have been fun.

I swear I hate the while entitled gamer label but it's clear there are people who that applies to.

I think it was to be expected, that PSN+ would get worse.

In PS3 world, with free online play, one needed good games to motivate people to actually buy it.
With PS4, you have to buy it if you play online anyway.
Except PS+ games are not there solely to make you buy a PlayStation, or play multiplayer.

Indeed more often than not the games given are not multiplayer titles.

But crucially the games are not given away by Sony just to be nice, they're part of a win-win scenario for both Sony and the publisher. Sony wins because you get 'free' games, and the publisher wins because you might try a game from a franchise you've never thought of trying before, discover you love it and buy the next instalment or play a non-franchised game love it then buy the additional DLC for it after sales for the game have dried up.

So whilst Sony might think OK we've reeled these suckers in now, let's drop the quality (however you would even define that), publishers still want you to get their games just as much as ever for the extra revenue it supplies them. And don't forget if you are buying the accompanying DLC - Sony gets a cut of that.

Toward the end of the year I reckon we'll start getting PS4 launch titles with likely suspects being LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, Thief and Knack.

If you're paying for this, then it means PS+ is worth that value to you.

With the value of the games depreciating, and the price I'm willing to pay to play online increasing, sure. That isn't my argument.

My argument is that they're doing the bare minimum with PS4 PS Plus because they know they have my money anyway.

I'll be very glad to give sly 4 a try !

Don't know about those games, but I'm very curious, so if it's free I'll try it.

That's the goodness of PSN+, all those games I would never buy that I get to discover just because they're given to me for free !

For the games I know I want, I just buy them :P

For the people complaining, think about this. There's 12 months of the subscription, did you get your $30-$50 worth of games from PS3/PS4/Vita that you enjoyed? If not, you still have a few months to do that. Or you can look at how much you saved from PS+ discounts.

I can't expect them to give out the few AAA PS4 games on the market 4 months after launch. Be realistic with your expectations.

EDIT: I'm seeing people talking about the value going down, but theyre putting some high ranked games on there? You guys have to realize there's millions of different gamers with different tastes paying for the service. You won't always like the genre or game but other people might.

They should make a survey for PS+ subscribers where they ask what kind of games they like and what they want to see in future updates. They could ask for favourite genres, favourite companies etc
For example have they ever offered a JRPG?It's like they are completely ignoring the genre.

Only if you stop with your bullshit.

There aren't enough games on PS4 to give away big AAA titles yet. You're CRAZY if you think you're somehow going to get a PS4 launch game for free less than 6 months after release.

How are they putting in no effort when you're getting generally good quality indie games for free on their launch dates? I really cannot see how you can complain about any of this. It's pure entitlement and borderline delusional.

You're just not being realistic as to what your subscription can get you. Yeah, you get AAA games for fee on PS3, MORE THAN A YEAR after their launch. The PS4 hasn't been out long enough to build up a back catalogue.

I'm more than happy with the current PS4 line up - Resogun, Dead Nation, Outlast and Mercenary Kings all amount to around £50 worth of value by themselves.

My argument is that they're doing the bare minimum with PS4 PS Plus because they know they have my money anyway.

Just wondering, what are the PS4 titles you think you are "entitled" to get from Sony each month (or even more so, just a few months after the console release with barely titles out at all)?

I'm happy with these games, to be honest, I don't have Sly, Pro Evo will be nice to try, if Hotline Miami is crossbuy that's great too, plus Mercenary Kings? Good times.

There's a great disparity between expecting, say, Killzone and expecting one indie game per month.

There's quite the middle ground, actually.

Delusional.

Go look at the release dates for the games that you thought were awesome value to be receiving as part of PS+ on the PS3, then look at when they gave it away on PS+.

Quite a long time between the two for pretty much all of them right? Exactly.

Same situation here, the content will come once due time has elapsed.

In fact count yourself lucky you're even getting content.

Given PS+ is required for multiplayer, subs will have likely increased dramatically, meaning even more people are going to get the content for free, and so to give away your game on it's launch on the face of it is a bonkers idea, one that the major publishers of AAA titles are not even going to entertain.

What's wrong with expecting Resogun & DriveClub at release, Knack the month after, Killzone: Shadow Fall next, Assassin's Creed IV next, Battlefield 4 after that, etc?

Mercenary Kings and Sly????

FUCK YES!!!!!!!!!!!
What's wrong with expecting Resogun & DriveClub at release, Knack the month after, Killzone: Shadow Fall next, Assassin's Creed IV next, Battlefield 4 after that, etc?

People would not buy games with that precedent. I would think that developers would not be happy about that.

Lucky?

And your last point is exactly what I'm saying! What are you arguing against?

They did a survey on exactly that a fair few months back. EU, at least anyway.

I think the Vita has had a couple of JRPGs. But, they're not really that aligned I don't think with who they're trying to grab with PS+.

And what is the middle ground? Battlefield? Cod? PS4 simply doesn't have games that aren't either indie or AAA not even 6 month old games. Give it time. By november I'm sure they'll be giving away AC4 for frree.

Hotline Miami!! Now's my chance to see what it's all about. Love the soundtrack!!
It sounds a lot better when you're hearing it as you throw a gun at a guy to knock him out, snap his neck, burst through a door to knock out his friend, steal his crowbar, bash him to death with it, pick up an Uzi and shoot the guy over the side of the room...

The game turns you into a psycho, you're gonna love it!

I would be happy with that lineup...

Mercenary Kings- looks fun

Sly - bought Day 1
PES 2014 - haven't played a soccer game since Fifa 09

Miami Hotline - bought Day 1
Moto GP 13 - considered buying it on sale but never did, super keen for this as it's something different

If anyone was actually expecting alot of PS4 PS+ content in the beginning of it's lifespan is stupid. The console has only been out for 4 months and not that many games in general have been released for PS4 or Xbox One (not counting indies). Don't expect and really good months for PS4 PS+ months until 2015 imo.

Also, I think Sony are starting to run out of things to give for PS+ me thinks which is why PS3/Vita months have been so bad lately. Just my opinion on the matter though.

NBA Live 14, LEGO Marvel, Putty Squad.

Ooh, I was thinking of getting Hotline Miami for the Vita (already own it on Mac, but heard the controls on the Vita are really good). Now I'll just wait :-)

I'm happy with any free game that I don't already own. But I'm not expecting any bigger games until maybe this Summer. I could see Knack being free in June/July.

Mercenary Kings is a great choice. I would probably never play it if it wouldn't be part of PS+.

What's wrong with expecting Resogun & DriveClub at release, Knack the month after, Killzone: Shadow Fall next, Assassin's Creed IV next, Battlefield 4 after that, etc?
There are not that many PS4 games released so the sales for those games are still fairly strong.

There's a great disparity between expecting, say, Killzone and expecting one indie game per month.

Please list at least 5 games that are out on PS4, which you think should have been included in PS+ for you to be satisfied, since I just don't understand what you are expecting. Please list these middle ground games for which you realistically think should be offered.

Edit: Already asked. :p

Lucky?

And your last point is exactly what I'm saying! What are you arguing against?
No it isn't. It is exactly the opposite.

You are suggesting that we receive AAA titles from the major publishers a mere couple of months, if not sooner, after release.

I am suggesting to you that no publisher is going to entertain this idea because it will not make them money, especially with a likely increased subscriber percentage as it leaves a smaller base of players who would therefore have to pay top rate for your title to purchase it outright.

Time needs to pass. Once the sales drop off, they can then offer it for 'free' on PS+ and receive an extra hit of revenue.

How it benefits an indie game is that sales projections will be a hell of a lot lower. This means it is easier to cover the costs by whatever Sony dishes out to secure the title. So in other words what you are suggesting is that Sony digs into it's pockets to secure newly released AAA titles and covers the funds the major publishers would require.

All at no additional cost to the consumer.

Not. Going. To. Happen.

Are there people who actually play all six games every single month?

I'm actually happy to just play one game a month with the backlog I have. With one game a month that's $7 Austalian dollars but still I think I'm getting great value.... there's no way id be able to buy Pro Evo 2014 or Sly or Tomb Raider or Metro Last Light for $7.

Also I'd like them to include a JRPG or even a RPG... what about Nier, Tales of Xillia or even an old RPG from PSone/PSP era.

I want them to change the yearly games too, Uncharted 3 was so silly to include as a yearly game in my opinion. Most people would have purchased it anyway, and at 38GB, its a waste of HD space and downloading time.
I have no problem with Sony including The Last of Us in PS Plus though :)

Well, what title did you want for PS4 from PS+ in April?

That was way too long ago and i wasn't a subscriber back then. They should have a system that automatically sends the survey once someone subscribes to PS+.

And since October (when my subscription started) i haven't seen not even one fucking JRPG for PS3 or Vita.Which ones they offered previously?

There are so many niche JRPGs that they could have offered for PS3...Ar Tonelico,Rune Factory Oceans,Neptunia and many many more.Or older ones like Folklore or 3D Dot Heroes.

In fact now that i'm thinking about it with the exception of MGSRising and Binary Domain how many other Japanese PS3 games have they offered?
