Someone check on Kanji to make sure he's okay.

SPEAKING OF.

P4A

As Yu I chose to signal Kanji instead of Yosuke at the end of Yu's story mode. Kanji started to blush. Fucking hilarious.

Yu and Kanji are the official couple in my headcanon.

Unlike what certain Junes warriors would tell you.

Poor Kanji. He just can't catch a break.

Considering most every storyline other than Kanji's acts as if Kanji never realizes that it isn't a dream, yeah. ESPECIALLY Teddie mode.

Yu x IT is the official couple. Because Yu has dat chemistry with every single person.

Persona 1

FUUUUUUUUUUCK. I hope I get
Maki back soon
because I don't have any healing Personas I can equip without her. I fused one, but basically I have fuck all in terms of spell cards too because FUCK DEMON NEGOTIATIONS AKA THE WORST MEGATEN MECHANIC OF THEM ALL. As if that mechanic wasn't shitty enough, current dungeon monsters are ALWAYS too strong so even if by some random chance I succeed in guessing correctly and persuading them to join, the bastards don't because Mark or Nanjo is like, 15 levels weaker than Fred and Reiji.

Fucking HATE demon negotiations.

I feel ya. They aren't that bad in Strange Journey, but it's kinda annoying in P2 where you need to either use a guide or do it through trial & error (which is annoying) to get persona cards.

That reminds me, it's almost 6 months ago since I touched P2:IS.

I love Rise's baka-super around 40 seconds into that trailer. Rise looks like so much fun to play as, I am EXCITE! Thanks for the subtitles :)

You know what, it just came to my head (an explode) that Rise's voice actress is the same as the voice I always use for the boss in SR3 and SRIV.
Holy shit! She has an amazing range of voice.

If that blows your mind, I don't wanna see what happens when you see her official list of credits -- and that's not even all of it either!

So Ground Zeroes is kinda bad.

I only hope you didn't pay full price for that trumped up demo. I'm all for more Metal Gear, but I'd never pay full price for that game.

At this point what sucks is that I still have to recruit enough demons to fuse the Ultimate Personas. But basically, aside from those and Narukami, I have neither need nor interest in more demon negotiations. What's even worse, though, is the lack of a Persona Compendium.

About how long will it take to get max courage and knowledge? I'm at the beginning of September and have both at level 4 (just reached that level for knowledge at the end of summer break, courage I've probably been there for a while). Asking because I plan to max Naoto's S. Link but don't want to waste time raising stats when I could be hanging with Nanako/Dojima/Kanji/Rise.

Even though Naoto's link starts late it was pretty easy to max. She's available early in the week for three days straight. It's less awkward than say, Rise, who was available only at the end of the week. I wouldn't prioritize stat building if you have other links to do.

P3FES: The Answer

....Does Junpei learn Agidyne in the Journey? I don't know if it's me but he seems like a better character in the Answer.

Yes, demon negotiation system in P1 is antiquated garbage.

Some of the arguments that support are hilarious; You're just under-leveled! You haven't "gotten" it yet! Ugh.

Heck no. They've clearly got an older/younger brother thing going on...

Everything, I think? The ending was okay, I guess.

Most things were disappointing. Voice acting was surprisingly bad. Robin Atkin Downes was good, and that's about it.

I thought the gameplay and presentation were pretty cool, but the story, pacing and voice acting definitely needs some work. Still, that said, I'm pretty excited for Phantom Pain considering how grand the game looks. Time will tell if my excitement is warranted, or as illusory as the titular sensation.

You don't give chocolates to your brother for Valentines day!

I give chocolates and Valentines cards to all of my closest friends of Valentine's Day, regardless of their gender. I even gave them "You da man!" Junpei cards this year!

BTW why is General Grievance your avatar

It's Kanji.

He's the type that would blush over anything that makes him mildly uncomfortable. Plus, by his own admission he looks up to Yu as an older brother.

From personal experience, that sort of companionship and romantic affection aren't mutually exclusive. I've had a friendship in real life with a very similar dynamic (someone extremely open and compassionate that I felt admiration and love for that was unrequited and couldn't really be expressed to any significant degree.)

What you posted makes a strong case for it possibly being a simple friendship, but other things he does muddle it and make me think of it being a mixture of both.

What's to get? It's randomized bullshit.

What!? Yu would never lie to Nanako and he DEFINITELY TOLD HER IT'S GIVE YOUR BROTHER CHOCOLATE DAY.

Early negotiations in any megaten game were all random bullshit. Played through SMT1, was the same way.

You eventually keep doing dialogue options til you get lucky and then they ask you what they want, then it's even more random elements just to see how much you have to fork over just to get it. Sometimes you lose 10k macca, sometimes it joins right away after 1 life stone, there's no rhyme nor reason to it. At least in SMT1 you could alter your luck with it somewhat with the INT stat, which seemingly did little else but(you can only have 40 before a stat is "maxed", by level 25 I had it at 25 and left it there the rest of the game to save my sanity). :p

Persona 2: IS is at least not random once you figure out how to manipulate that specific demon(or you look online for a list that tells you exactly what you want to do with each).

All I'm saying is that if catching a Pokemon was as hard as persuading a demon Pokemon would be a lot less successful a video game series.

I don't mind how IS did it, I just hate random sometimes.

It's not a deal-breaker, just an annoyance. I mean, I went through SMT1 doing nothing but choosing to answer "friendly" when starting a convo, because it genuinely doesn't mean shit if you start threatening or being friendly, the result is the same: Pure chaos. :p

I don't mind the negotiations ,except in the P2s ugh, and the one game that I really liked it in was Soul Hackers.

Somehow most of the correct responses felt logical in that game and even when you failed, the dialogue you got from the demons was hilarious.

We lose demon negotiation, we lose SJ, 4, and Soul Hackers hijinx like these.

THINK OF THE CHILDREN.

Today I finally met the only other person in Alabama who knows what "purse-owner" is.......... and he was a Japanophile. *sigh*

edit: He also didn't like it and called it baby's first jrpg.

you anti negotiation people are poops. having the option is really nice, but I agree it shouldn't be forced on you like P1/2.

Yeah, the main issue lies in the fact that those games force you to use negotiation (and it's arguably at strictest in P1 due to the group level requirement). For instance, I got by SMTIV/Soul Hackers with very little demon recruitment.

That's a fair point.

I wouldn't even say they have a simple friendship; it's pretty intimate.
