PS+ version of Driveclub will have 5 tracks (1 country) and 10 cars.

We were told that it wasn't used for new content.

Or is people selecting when companies lies and when they say the truth to support their arguments?

This is from the blog update:

Cars & Tracks – More time means more staggeringly detailed cars and exciting tracks too. If you haven’t already, check out the Ferrari in the video released yesterday. There are loads more exciting cars for us to reveal in the coming months.

For the one comment that I never heard before this thread that there would only be a few cars/ tracks missing there are several more that imply the + version would be a cut-down version in terms of content or have a selection of cars and tracks from the full game.

The point of the + version is to ensure their is a large community and to entice players to upgrade to the full game. I think people are missing the point, and really latched on to that quote and ignored all of the previous info we knew about the + version since it was announced. Why would they give most of the game away for free, unless you loved it you wouldn't bother upgrading.

At the very least everyone should agree that this was always what the + version was going to be and the dev fucked up that quote on the plus version because everything else points to what we are going to get.

Yet.
Again, a whole team does not work on menus. There are always people who solely create tracks/cars/whatever, and they were surely not twiddling their thumbs for a whole year.

As Rushy stated, there will be lots of news/videos etc. coming in the next weeks/months until launch.

Maybe it wasn't on menus, maybe the game was broken in a gameplay level and had to be reworked but still no new content was added?

I don't know, you neither. Is speculation...

It's not about the money. I'm buying an Oculus rift dev kit MK2 for $370 just to get it about a year earlier than the consumer version. It's insulting to assume this is about money, and not a dev going back on their word.

great, so then we can listen to you complain about how Oculus lied by adding features you didnt get a year earlier...

wow, keep up the good fight man.

tell me im wrong in what i just said...

youre bent out of shape because Driveclub PS+ isnt a complete AAA title for free...so now you would be willing to go play on what? XBL? for $10 more per year (fact)...to get inferior multiplats (fact) and no free games for subscribers (fact)...

how does that make ANY sense?...unless your an entitled, spoiled brat...

It's not speculation.

In the update today they said that added new cars and tracks due to the delay.

Hey, they didn't lie like Evolution/Sony did. So kudos to Oculus VR for actually fulfilling their promises unlike the companies you buy stuff from.

It is but I think a lot of the arguing has been on what they said vs what's there now as if what's there now isn't pretty damn stacked on top of the discount Plus members will get for the upgrade to full.

It's one thing to argue on principle but the deep end posts filled with hyperbole on top of drive by concern trolls are what really make reading this irritating. I would hate to see if this was actually bad news but honestly, from the great visuals and content I see very little to be offended about but we have a huge thread on the damn 30fps and now this. It's a free version with part of the content which will have a discount vs a 60 dollar full out buy. For all this is doing right on top of how good it looks and how it seems to play I find these kinds of threads which blow up and have the tone of this thread to be damaging to a game which has a lot going for it.

Is that confirmed or just not mentioned?'btw I did cover what you said when I said "if it's not feature full like Stu's suggesting then Evo & Sony are fair game!"

Unless I'm missing something, I've not seen that confirmed, if it is confirmed I'll gladly stand corrected.

This is such a non-issue for me. If you purchased PS+ solely on the promise of a more fully realized DriveClub, then I don't have the ability to comprehend the thought process.

Clearly plans changed from when the original release was planned, and I can accept that without a problem. I wish Evolution Studios well on hopefully producing a wonderful game.

Eh, it was definitely a bait and switch but free is free and I'll take what I can get. I'll be more mad if the glorified demo is considered the free PS4 game of the month though.

no, occulus just took people's money as a "startup" and then sold out to facebook and pocketed $2bil that the investors that got them off the ground will never see a dime of...

So better audio, better graphics, more cars and tracks.

What else do you want?

Dosn't sound like they adding a lot more cars or tracks to make for the huge difference from the supossed year earlier release, of we go by the theory of "plans change".

I reiterate, five countries were planned and in development in November at the time the comment was made.

I'm sure, plenty of additional content and tracks have been added since the delay, but that doesn't change the fact that he very clearly said only a few tracks will be missing and we are only getting one of the five planned countries to sample.

Or this.

If they said that then shame but the way some are going overboard is as crazy as those who are absolutely fine with what's being offered in this FREE to Plus members version which will have a discount to upgrade to the full version.

Frankly, without a detailed breakdown of everything from the devs it's more speculation but what we have in the provided cars/tracks/features is damn good even if missing what makes the full version just that, the full version. I'd put this above a demo if all the functions of the full game are there minus all the content.

That's kind of what I was saying.

People are acting as if this is out and we can "Rage" out over this.

Without seeing a detailed breakdown I can't see why this is a huge deal but what's more annoying is the drive by posts and hyperbole and bashing of the devs. Evolution made some great games and it's as if that pedigree is forgotten on how some have talked in this and the 30fps thread.

The level of outrage in this thread is ridiculous. You would think that they announced at E3 that the final game would have 100 tracks and now they're saying it will only have 20. That's in the final game, mind you.

But no, this is about the trial version. Yes Rushy misspoke. But who is the victim here? Most people here already have Plus so this seems like complaining about "the principle" which strikes me as pointless.

I'm disappointed that the Plus version won't have more content (or the content that the devs mentioned). But that "promise" was ultimately unrealistic and this will still serve as a nice taste of the final game. For free to subscribers with the option to pay for more if you want.

When you contribute to a Kickstarter you are agreeing to receive the reward applicable for your tier of contribution. Nothing else. You are not buying a share in the company's future. If Oculus failed to deliver what they claimed they would for each tier, then this point would make sense.

Can this please never be brought up again?

Just the game's director. But let's pretend he's a random employee if that makes you feel better.

A single employee? You mean the Game Director of Drive Club? You know, the one person who would be in the best position to tell us about the game?

You're not an investor when you give money to a kickstarter, just a consumer buying an Oculus Rift/making a donation.

people are complaining about this? :/

it's the core game for free, day and date with the retail release ... retail games don't usually hit PS+ till 4+ mths later

it'd be like if EA gave away BF4 for free and only charged for plat pass access

I don't know why you are downplaying this, it was constantly reiterated that we would have full single-player content.

I mean, you can be disappointed about things without being "entitled" and "baseless" right? I mean I'm disappointed we are getting 80% of countries locked out and that the company went back on their word without making an official announcement, but I'm not feeling some sense of being entitled a full game.

"that's 5 countries at least unless they announce more, the PS Plus version is getting 1. that is not slighlty less content which the quote below suggests."

From the OP. So we're getting 1 country's tracks. Thats around 20%. As well as only "10 cars", so unless the game has only 50 cars, We're getting less than 20% of the full game.

DYs3CjL.png

I don't see how the definition of few jives with more than 50% of the content in total for the game.
Few doesn't refer to a percentage or shares. Few is a magnitude, commonly its 2-4. Given the small totals involved, a few can be a large percentage, but it's still a few. In any case, it's people using semantics to justify faux outrage. PEACE.

He's been the director since February. Just so we're fair to him.

For a free to Plus members version of a huge multi million dollar project which you will receive a discount at release? Maybe entitlement or faux rage as Pimprex noted are more true with some. Notice I'm not painting a broad stroke and saying it's everyone because it's clear there are concern trolls and some who are not really giving the facts a full thought since what we know isn't what I would even consider bad news.

5 Countries were planned and in the works before the year delay in November. We are getting 1 country in the PS Plus version.

So no... Just no.

it is kind of weird people mentioning number of countries in a racing game...

as to people calling it a demo - can you point out similar examples of a demos? i would not mind checking some more racing games for my ps3, especially if they have all modes, 10 cars and 5 tracks.

also, these games dont have 1000 vehicles... it is all about supercars.

Is that the guy who is no longer with the company?

edit: oh, so he is the new director. And he wasn't the director when he made the comments.

Drive Club is definitely the reason I signed up for PS+. I was finished with Resogun before the free month was up. I continued with the service because I thought Drive Club was right around the corner. Now It's a year late and the PS+ version doesn't sound anything like what we were lead to believe. The game better be damn good if Sony wants me to renew my subscription. I'm fine doing all of my multiplayer gaming on other consoles if not.
You signed up to PS+ for 50$, to get a portion of the game when you could just buy the full game outright for just 10$ more? Does not compute.

youre bent out of shape because Driveclub PS+ isnt a complete AAA title for free...so now you would be willing to go play on what? XBL? for $10 more per year (fact)...to get inferior multiplats (fact) and no free games for subscribers (fact)...

You sound like the one really bent out of shape. You really seem upset that, between the two online services I'm paying for right now, PS+ might be the service I drop. Sorry, I guess...

Yeah, I would be willing to do that. I do most of my multiplayer gaming on XBL already. It's where my friends are and those "inferior" games you speak of are just as much fun as their PS4 counterparts. Resolution isn't everything. Drive Club and Resogun were literally my main reason for signing up for PS+ and I'm done with Resogun (great game).

All this over one person's definition of the adjective "few".

5 unique tracks/11 varieties, 10 cars and access to all play modes is a big as GT5 Prologue (pre-patches).

few was obviously the wrong word to use because to most people it means 3, and there was no way they were going to release DC with a few less tracks for free.

It seems that each country has 5 tracks.

We know there are 5 countries reveal so far.

he was NOT the game directer when he made those comments

So was he a janitor? Was he there with a mop and broom when Yosp decended from heaven and said, "You shall lead this studio!"

He was a significant person to get that position after the last guy left.

To be fair I'm ok with this, I got to play Driveclub at the UK launch party and it was ok but very rough around the edges. The extra year pretty much they are putting into the game will have cost them a lot of money so I would rather them do what they have done than release a half baked product which if they decide to turn into a franchise could do a lot of damage to the brand.

We still get the glorified demo and if it turns out to be a good racer then I would be happy to stump up the extra cash and pay for the rest of the game, if it's not so great then I just won't buy the rest of the game, easy as that really.

And for Resogun. Also, if I just bought it on disc how am I going to play multiplayer? Oh yeah, sign up for PS+... So yeah, I signed up for PS+ expecting access to Drive Club soon. Everyone makes mistakes.

Drive-by shit posting. The only reason to use "a few" in the context by your definition of few is to inflate the perceived amount of content in the Driveclub PS+ Demo. PEACE.

"most of the singleplayer" "a small percentage of the singleplayer" are these things the same? No. Now go away, you clearly have no interest in this game or you would be very disappointed, so stop feeling so "entitled" to tell other people off for things that don't concern you.

i would be DISAPPOINTED if i INVESTED money into their company and they turned around and sold out...oh, wait you mean someone can only call out a company if you agree??

you ARE getting the full offline and online game...just minus tracks and cars...the COMPANY did not go back on their word...Evolution NEVER ONCE released a statement saying how many cars/tracks we were getting....PERIOD...there was no word to go back on

actually i have a metric shit ton of interest in this game...my only concern about it is that i dont get involved with online racing in Forza or GT so im concerned about how i will like the social focus...so i absolutely cant wait to try out the PS+ version to see how much i like it...

Thus entire thread feels strangely familiar. It feels like we did this exact same thing not even a couple of months ago... Killzone Resolution. We're still discussing semantics but the only difference is that it's about content instead of resolution. I think this stopped being about the game about 2 pages ago and now we're discussing PR. I don't miss the other half of the Driveclub discussion though.
EDIT:
Dammit. Top of the page.
I don't know what some people expected. I personally never expected anything more than 2 cars and 3 tracks. The more intimate discussion we should be having is whether PS+ Edition is going to become a more common entity. You bet Sony is watching the reactions from this and what is expected from PS+. As a launch game, this content would have been fine. But with the delay, I think people will end up expecting more than what they got when this drops on PSN in October.
