Ichigo's year in America keeps getting additional layers added to it - such as that time she spent at boot camp - that I find interesting. Also that she's regularly putting some English into her speech, it's just a part of her character now. The episode was otherwise an Akari-focuser, and now that she has her own character model, she looks a lot more confident. Still stumbling a bit, but the signs of growth are there. The Mizuki subplot and the Akari subplot have to overlap at some point, maybe next week. Good episode.

And because I have issues as is to even consider it.

I will do it. I will gladly make a Precure OP for yall. Put my name all over it and take all the criticism from normalgaf.
But you have to help me make it.

Fucking god damn Mai-Hime!

Not an anime, but the manga Gunsmith Cats Burst can go be thrown in a fire after THAT ending.

Hahahahah. that show had the worst ass pull ending of all time.

Millennium Actress

Boring as hell. Didn't find Chiyoko's story compelling at all and the director was damn annoying. Of the 3 Kon works I've seen, this is by far the weakest. Really not my kind of movie.

Soundtrack was pretty good though.

I have never once in the countless times rewatching this movie EVER gotten bored with it. the pacing is excellent. It never stays in one place too long. Satoshi Kon kept it moving from one setpiece to another flawlessly. I say this as perhaps one of the most ADD people on this forum who can barely finish a single anime episode without pausing it.

...aaaaand Crunchyroll's down for maintenance. Hopefully things work better when they get back.

This is why I still buy blurays. When internet craps out you have nothing to watch otherwise.

I will always remember Elfen Lied as my first bad anime ending. It's actually all I remember about it. Oh and that it had nudity.

Elfen Lied ending didnt bother me because it basically pulled the Noir ending.
Now theres a show I should watch again. Loved Noir so much.

There are many that I didn't like or where just plain bad. And there are those, where I wanted to beat up the directors who did that.
My-Hime was a damn finde anime, until it came to the last episode. And well the Manga of Usagi Drop kicked my guts. Oh and True Tears, fucking True Tears. I can't forgive them for doing that to poor Noe!

My Hime was actually really great and then that ending comes from nowhere and just punches you right in the face and calls you a bitch. It was mean.

I know nothing of the adaptation, but whats here does feel more like Scrapped Princess and Im enjoying it quite a bit as such. Then they just added fuel to the fire.

Speaking of Scrapped Princess, I would love for that to get a re-release someday. Would love to have a chance to rewatch it.

And having never seen it, I am definitely in for Cardcaptor Sakura. NISA has done a consistently great job with the quality of their releases and I expect this to be no different.

Maturity, bitches.

Well I haven't seen Noir so I can't really comment on that comparison, but the reason EL ending angered me was because the protagonist was stupid and I hate stupid characters.

Engage Eyeball: Kiss Dum - Episode 7

Shu's awkward chats with his invisible women are creeping out his visible women a lot more than usual now. Luckily there's this mirror out there that makes them visible and one of the characters from before Episode 4 has it!

The good news is now the invisible women are now visible and the already visible women can see that he wasn't talking to himself the entire time. Shame Shu's a lot weaker now because of it.

Have I mentioned before that I hate the ED to this? That high pitched scream at the beginning of it is not headphone friendly at all.

LOL that ED is horrible. Its so unfitting but does settle out into a decent song. but my god its as awkward as the show itself. Part of the charm really.

Nice set! Though obviously to save money they left out the soundtrack and drama CDs and some other packaging thing. but for a straightforward collection that doesnt look bad, they got it right.

Damn. I really need to get myself a Region B player...

2 discs for 13 episodes seems a bit tight though. Are they BD50s?

Actually, quite a few bluray releases in the US have 7,8,9 episodes per disc so it doesnt seem that weird at all. It seems to work just fine without any huge drop in quality. As to HOW they do it Im guessing BD50s.

Speaking of Scrapped Princess, I would love for that to get a re-release someday. Would love to have a chance to rewatch it.

I absolutely recommend it. Its a true anime classic. The show explores its characters well and makes you care about all of them but keeps everything in the perspective of a young audience. Its really cute and sweet and...and...*bounces

Regarding NISA, they are getting better with quality but still the occasional issue does pop up like bad audio or some blurred frames. They are still relatively new but should be getting the hang of it by now.

HItsugi no chaika - 04
Much intresting episode..

As they say " a cat is fine too " ,
as a party member.

Will be intresting to see how they go from here in term of story

And yeah the scrapped princess similarities are quite high.

Yeah there are several shows Id love to be rereleased like ROD TV and Scrapped Princess. There are shows entirely glossed over by the current anime fandom because they are simply too young to know they existed.

Well I haven't seen Noir so I can't really comment on that comparison, but the reason EL ending angered me was because the protagonist was stupid and I hate stupid characters.

So you hate most anime character D:

But anyway, NOir ended with
Mireille and Kirika walking away and then a shot rings out and you dont know if they are alive or dead. In Elfen Lied you also hear a shot and Lucy's fate is unclear

I suppose what technical issues there still are haven't bothered me much. Their packaging is always top notch, though...that's one reason why I like buying their premium collections.

Definitely worth investing in one for the much cheaper UK stuff. This set is 1 BD 50 with 9 episodes on it and 1 BD 25 with 4 episodes, roughly 4.5GB per episode.

For sure! I'm looking at the Japanese visual guides for each season to make up for the limited extra goodness.

Date A Live Episode 2 (funidub)

Tonomachi texting Shido was perfect, especially with the commentary from the girls that continue to ship them together, hopefully so far making the most progress on a dating relationship in this show.

Origami kind of confirmed herself as being pretty awful, just really bland character in a show of this type and just plain weird (scene with the outfit and photo). Tohka would be better if she wasnt so clueless.
though I hope people are not seriously going to wonder if she is a different person now in plain clothes outfits...

I wonder when Funi will put up the rest, its still fairly interesting.

I think I might actually have to do this. There's been enough UK releases I'd get by now to justify the investment.

Crest of the Stars 3

Also things get somewhere as you say from the next episode even!

Lies.

Also this zoom effect was gross during the scene where they talked about paintings.

Not that this was a bad episode. There were good moments to it. Jint's struggle to fit in with this alien culture is definitely one I can understand, and it's becoming clear what draws him and Lafiel to each other.

But this is a show that's really about the majesty of space (the OP consists of nothing but drawings of space! No characters appear in it!) and its foreign culture. The warp sequence was one of the better visual representations of that. It was a good case of spaceships doing spaceship things and people calling out courses and engine speed and all that good stuff.

Engines firing! An animated UI! This is what sci-fi needs!

Abh society is interesting, but I want to see people start to do things. It seems like all their future-narrator teasing about this upcoming war will lead somewhere next episode, so I guess I'll have to wait until then.

Yeah, thats what I wanted to say. I really don't understand what happened in the process and why would anyone think that the turn was needed.

Maybe it was getting to grimdark and the author got scared of alienating the audience. But...then you got Madoka. I really dont know.

Impressive stuff here. It's amazing how close they got to the orignal opening when they did the side to side comparison. Hope they do OP2 and OP3 eventually.

Im so giddy. you just have no idea. Or maybe you do since Ive been so obviously giddy but oh my god I still cant believe its actually happening! So long Ive waited for blurays!

Well, it would be possible to make a positive ending, without this Deus Ex Machine. Something bittersweet would've been great.
