'Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare' trailer (PC/XB1/PS4/360/PS3, Nov 4th) [Up: Info]

SargerusBR

I love Pokken!
I think it's set in the same universe?
The Modern Warfare story arch finished with MW3.
So now the new storyline is Advanced Warfare.

I don't know for sure, but the similar names make me think it's the same universe, just set a long time apart and the names were changed to signify a new plot line.

Wasn't there a rumor last year that the next CoD would feature Captain Price?

Nah...makes more sense for Sledge to just start a new universe being this is their first solo run at a title...

Possibly. I dunno, perhaps I'm just attached to the old characters :p
We'll see soon enough though. The trailer looks like a lot of fun anyway. After MW3, I weren't so sure about Sledgehammer but it looks like they've really stepped it up for this, I can't wait to see more.
I'd like the same universe, but I can see why they might choose to start afresh.

I like the characters too...but what good are they gonna be 40 years in the future? You likely wouldn't be playing as them at all considering what their ages would be...

This honestly shocks me. I have played every CoD campaign dating back to MoH: Allied Assault, and the only character that I can even name is Price.

Yeah, all of the characters would be too old at this point. I rather if it took place in the same universe as Black Ops (considering the technology gives off similar vibes), since there are characters in BO2 that wouldn't be tooo old by the time this game rolls.

Then again it's still 2054 vs 2025. 29 year difference.... David Mason from BO2 would be 75 years old... :(

Which is why a completely new universe and trilogy is most appropriate...you will get Black Ops 3 next year from Treyarch...

Price was in WWII and the MW conflict.

Price is forever.

So I guess one of the game that will be demoed at the MS press conference will be this.

Hearing and seeing ads for this in pandora now. Says the "ultimate experience" is on xbone. :]

Can't wait for the digital foundry thread. I can already see all the "lolololol all that marketing money from MS and still have the inferior version" comment.
I'm buying the PS4 version for sure

I really hope that they fix the multiplayer in this one to be more like Black Ops II and COD4 (I've heard many people consider BO2 to be as close to the COD4 experience as any COD since 4, I consider it that as well).

It needs a longer time-to-kill, not the even instant-ier death than normal in Ghosts and it needs a loadout and perk system more similar to BO2's Pick 10 system instead of the weird point system in Ghosts.

Of course the maps need to be good as well. Not sniper havens like Ghosts (that castle map...). I think the gamemodes should be cut down as well. Stick to Team Deathmatch, SnD, Free-for-All, Domination, CTF, and Demolition (along with Mercenary Moshpit). They don't need Gun Game or Kill Confirmed or any of the other derivative modes that divide the playerbase.

I'm optimistic about this game but I think this will be the biggest question mark it faces. Respawn/Old IW's exit left a giant mark on the maps for MW3/Ghosts. Those were some horrifically designed maps.

But if they take it out, fans will complain and people will point and say, look they're taking out stuff!! (even though we should know that you don't take out stuff, you just don't spend time developing it)

Those are the best modes. Not a big fan of TDM with CoD's mechanics.

I really like drop zone, it's more fun to play than TDM, in Ghost at least...

Damn this looks great first COD I'm hyped for since MW2. All my friends moved to PS4 now so finally well all have a game to play that's current gen.

Wii U version already in source code of activision website.

So my plan to get Wii U version.

Nintendo should pay for the DLC to be free on the eShop and the community will grow... Nintendo needs a strong reason as to why people should buy it in their console. I love off TV play though so that's the reason I'll get it on Wii U.

Advertise free online play as well.

-- Chemical-propellant firearms have been at a technological plateau for nearly a century. Cost is a factor because the improvements with most new propellants and projectile design are extremely small.

-- COD: AW stuff looks straight-up superscience, so arguing how "advanced" it is sort of misses the forest for the trees.
CODAW takes place in the 2050s right? BO2 took place in the 2020s I think. I hope that Treyarch, assuming they do another near-future game (that seems to be the trend now) they stick in the same universe that they started with World at War. I hope that Sledgehammer starts a new continuity for their games like IF did with Ghosts.

Those are the best modes. Not a big fan of TDM with CoD's mechanics.
Honestly, if they do Gun Game again it shouldn't be its own dedicated playlist, it should be part of a party list like it was in BO1 and 2. I really enjoyed the Wager Matches from BO1.

As for Kill Confirmed, I think that it should just outright replace TDM with the stipulation that kills only add to your KDR when you pick up the tags yourself. You'll get points for actually killing, but only a quarter of what you'd get if you picked up the tags. Other players picking up your tags will earn you an assist and a few more points, you picking up other's tags earns you an assist as well.

It would make the game less likely to be camp-happy.

Might just be me but there does seem to be more of a positive reaction and larger interest to this unveiling than Ghosts.

Did the Ghosts reveal thread even get this much talk?

The Ghosts reveal thread was mostly people laughing at fish AI and that gif of someone opening Riley's mouth. That and people criticizing them for saying that it was a new engine and then backtracking on it. And that's not even an exaggeration.

Yeah, Nintendo really should talk up things like this... free online play, the option of off-TV play and two player mode in which each player can have their own screen, the option of fully remappable pointer controls. And this may be anecdotal, but a whole hell of a lot less immature cursing, berating, and whining on the mic than I've heard on Live or PSN.

Good to see Sledgehammer is carrying on the CoD tradition of ham-handed politics and moustache-twirling villains. I was afraid they might inject the series with some subtlety.

Also, why show footage of the Xbox One version, when it'll likely be the least impressive (graphically speaking) current gen version? And no, I'm not shitting on Xbone. I play my Xbone far more than my PS4. I'm just curious.

I hope the fucking player health is not like Ghosts.

Make it more like Blops2.

I'm not a big CoD fan. What was the difference?

Wait, seriously?

That doesn't make good business sense to just not announce it (no matter how poor series sales have been on WiiU), unless they cancelled the WiiU version late in development and just haven't removed the code from the website.

is there supposed to be an event today? or was it just supposed to be the trailer release that got leaked so they just put it out early?

I guess if they decide to cancel it between now and then, they won't get any flack.

Yeah, I was thinking that's a possibility. There were rumors on gaf (I think, or maybe gonintendo) last year that they didn't announce right away and were waiting for some sort of deal with Nintendo of some kind (no clue of what nature) before announcing.

It's a small Treyarch team that knows what they're doing, a lot of groundwork is probably laid from the last couple years; they can probably give them the green light a few months beforehand and they can bang something out. And announce it at that point. Or decide to scrap it. We'll find out. After several more weeks probably.

is there supposed to be an event today? or was it just supposed to be the trailer release that got leaked so they just put it out early?

I think this is correct.

It must make sense to them for some reason. They do it every year.
